I was growing my hair out. It was going good. I cheated on my barber. Ended up with a hard part comb over. Had to buzz all my hair off and start again 😭
bruh same thing happened almost, barber fucked up my hair was growing the top out for 6 months (5 inches) after buzzing it the first time. how long was ur hair before u buzzed it?
I started with an undercut in October and I've been letting it grow out and my long term goal is to grow it out to where it's all the same length and reaches my shoulder blades. Need advice on the best way to do that please.
Same. I’m trying to do that now. I got an undercut before lockdown and now the sides and back are about 4” while my top is about 15”. I’m trying to grow my hair long but don’t want it to look like I have a layer of hair sitting on top of my shorter hair. So this vid was helpful. It doesn’t totally give me the answer I needed, but it definitely took care of a piece of the puzzle.
I feel ya the top of my hair is down to my shoulders and my sides are about half an inch long 😭 it’s starting to look weird and I don’t know whether to let the side just grow and when all of my hair is past my shoulders I’ll cut it evenly or just shave the undercut again 😭
I have a tip on growing out an undercut. If you got and undercut with NO taper, growing out is going to look porcupine-ish. So....when it starts to look porcupiney: If you started out at 1/8", do a skin fade. When that grows a out little, undercut it again WITH a taper.....say, 1/2 " down to 1/8". Next month, drop that taper line down towards the ear. So now you're starting at 1" and taper down to whatever. Keep going like this and it will get to a point where ot blends in with the top part. And you can avoid the bushy sided.
This is really helpful. Every 3 months or so, slightly trim your top, and in about 6-7 months, (for my style) all your hair will be grown on all sides of your head.
In my case, I will probably have to wait another 4 years to get my hair to my desired length, since I have shoulder lenght hair that I've been growing since 2019...
I’ve grown my hair out for about a year now. Startet with a cut like the first example, but actrully longer on top. Trust me its fine. Do not get any cuts. It looks awesome now🤟🏻
2:46 The biggest issue is that some people's hair grows out straight on the sides of their head(more typical with Asian and Latino hair). So basically you end up with potentially a very unattractive look trying to grow it out it will cause your front facial profile to look weird. Until the hair grows out long enough it won't lay down :(
If you're lucky enough (like me) to a point where you don't attend formal event (like weddings, parties, etc.) often, you could just wear a hat or a cap while the sides grow out, until they're long enough to lay down :)
Man thank you this video is what i needed to hear , im at that awkward uneven phase of my hair, need to grow the sides for sure to blend it right, so right alot of barbers , salons dont take the time to look at your hair and suggest anything. Again awsome video thank you! Definitely subscribed!
Yeah mine the top is really long I can tie it up like a ponytail but I want the sides and back same length so your advices are helpful but I m just gonna let it grow naturally and accept it's gonna break all the mirrors for a while not stressing about it that's key for hair growth! :)
@@jfromstate8581 haha yes couple of days ago went back to a medium length haircut and it's been a blessing since then kinda lost patience with all the care and maintining you need for long hair.
Guys just let your undercut grow. I grew mine out with the top of my hair, I didn’t get a trim or anything I just lend it grow until it finally blended in with my top hair and now it looks like I never had an undercut.

Did you do the Newsted undercut with clean sides or faded sides? The Newsted one is easier to maintain imo, just get shaving machine men use instead of razor and use that (it might not be best idea as you don't see back of your head but it can be done, plus it's safe than regular hair trummer

Awesome advise. Thank you so much. I cut my own hair (don't fret, I did go to cosmetology school) so this is helpful. I have an undercut that I've been growing for about 6 months now, it's maybe around 5in long.... my top, I've been trimming to cover the undercut, but it's at the point now where I can pretty much blend it in. I just don't want to do a lot of layers. I think if I pull the undercut straight out and trim off the top ends that stick out, it should blend decently, yes?
I had a mess up n a disconnected undercut was the only way to fix it. Learned i dont like it, n im fighting the urge to chop it all off as i want long hair XD Luckily enough, its the end of the summer right now. I can let the sides grow n hide the shame under hats till its a good length now XD
I just got an undercut it's like a 2 on the sides and back and it's about an inch below my chin and the top is all the same length I'm letting the top grow past my chest and keeping the undercut...if u want to grow out the sides then go in and cut about half an inch to an inch a month off the top then keep growing the sides so while the sides grow the top stays the same then eventually it will catch up to the top
People keep saying "haha barber bald no hair can't get what they work with" I would prefer to be entirely fucking bald then have a bald spot, comb over or a extreme receding hairline.
I was hoping you could do a haircut that all the side are short and the top is long and also if you decide to do it please tell me the name of the haircut please could you do it
Would anyone have recommendations for someone who doesn’t want to cut his top? I’m willing to trim but I have grown it out past my chin. About a half inch past. I haven’t cut my sides in about 5 months.
I rocked an undercut for a long while, usually had my friend do it for me with a #2 on the sides and back and just trim up the tips of the top (about 6-8 inches in length on top). Then I decided I wanted to grow it all out and I just started to let it grow and only had my friend trim up the tips of the long bit. . The top is almost 24 inches in length and its weight keeps it very straight but the sides and back are about 8-10 inches and quite wavy, but just falling onto the shoulders. I am waiting for the sides and back to weigh themselves down to cut it all to one length.
Hey my hair is pretty similar right now to the first doll but I want my sides to grow so I can have a slick back look. Maybe some hair out the back when I wear a beanie. Will it grow into this from the first doll style?
Hi Salon Guy :) I want to try an undercut with very long hair in a bun on top (viking style). At the moment my hair is like 25 Inches and i am wearing a bun almost always. I am 36 years old and the last time i had short hair is more than 15 years ago. I am a little scared because i really dont want to loose the "bun". So my question is: can i grow back the undercut with bun at top to long hair everywhere without ever having "short" hair? Thanks!
I’m trying to grow my hair out, like long hair, but right now the sides and the back are mushrooming. I thinking about doing a modified undercut to help the top grow out. Anyone know if it will destroy my progress?
I have and undercut. And I really miss my long ass hair, mine hair is still longer then the ones on the models, but can I just let it grow out, back to normal length, or do I ha e to cut it all to get back to where I had it
My hair is nearly to my shoulders and it is undercut sides only , a bit like hawk eye but much longer on top. I was trying to go for NYX hair from final fantasy kingsglaive but now I just struggling with yet another awkward stage. I not sure if I will just keep the side short and eventually do the NYX cut or part it over like Nirvana JJ
Went to a barber told her not to cut the sides. Still used a scissor and cut the sides quit a bit until one side is uneven length than the other. Will this affect my hair growth
I mean it should not because hair is basically dead and the hair follicles present on your scalp are alive and provide growth so if talking about the growth rate, it should be the same on both sides unless you have a bit of a hair loss problem or something (I dunno I am not a barber 😂).
I wanna grow out my undercut but the only issue is that I bleached my hair that was longer for the undercut and I’ve been dying it 🥲 I mean maybe short colored ends are in lol. If all else fails, dark red hair dye
Had a side shave for about 2 years, now letting it grow (i loved it but looking for more styling options with a different cut). What im doing is have a middle part to hide it 😅
I got bored in isolation and tried to do my own undercut. I fucked up. It's a hidden undercut so I can hide it. But I would like it to grown it out quickly 😂😂
Can I have some advice? I’m planning to grow my hair into a 90s mushroom cut/curtains hairstyle a very generalised look based on what Leo had in Titanic and River in Indiana Jones. Also kinda like what BTS have. I got an undercut about a month ago and planning to get a haircut next month so by the time I’d have about two inches of length in the back and sides. What should I tell my barber to do? Or should I just keep growing it out until it becomes really long and then cut it?
Hi. As I’ve mentioned many times, and literally in this video, you need a person who knows how to cut hair to help you grow it out. Show him a pic of your desired look and they should be able to help you. Problem is, not many do this. Try and see what he says. You may want to try a stylist.
What is your hair now like? You can just let your top hair grow now and let it fall down. Just make sure that the front part of your top hair is longer than the back part of your top hair - in order to achieve "the curtains" that makes the curtain cut.
Quick question: where do o find a good barber shop that DOESNT blast music at 100% cause I like to NOT have a sensory overload every time I want a cheap haircut
I'm not a professional, but you may need to ask the stylist if they could possibly turn the music down when you go? if not, you can always buy earplugs ☺️
This video was so helpful. I still have problems with my hair. I have a side shaved since forever, which is getting higher each time by accident. My top hair is suuuuper long, and I don't really want to cut it so short as you suggest in the video. Is there any options? I can't find a decent stylist here in Argentina to analize and help me. Thank you!
Thanks i have a growing out undercut and i wanna cut my hair short again, but i don't wanna shave the undercut again lol..it's gonna take some more time than i thought 🙈
I use a wig until it grows to 2 inches then I trim the top a bit and use box braids until it grows to 4 inches then hello buns and ponytails with gel… 😊

My hair is almost the length of the 3rd head. I like my hair combed back but it's hard since it kinda does a weird curl to the left at this length and then I have a cow-lick going to the right. It just looks awkward. I feel like I'm almost there but this awkward look makes me want to just cut it short again
I got a under cut 3 years ago and as you can tell from my picture it’s way too high all the way around so I have one patch of long hair, I’m so tired of this style and I want to grow it out but I still have to go to school as an 8th grader and people suck so do you have any advice on growing out all of my hair.
What if we’re trying to grow it out to eventually be long enough to braid into the “Viking” styles? Quick Video on that please? Do I keep putting it into a pony tail/manbun and shaving the sides or just let the sides grow and not even bother getting a haircut?
Thank you sir. I recently cut my hair well I had it shaved on the sides and long on top. This is going to be a challenge for me as it has grown out only a little and I want to shave the sides BUT I want it to grow out at the same time ughhh.. Just grow it. That's what I am doing. Just cut your hair a little bit.

And I really miss my long ass hair, mine hair is still longer then the ones on the models, but can I just let it grow out, back to normal length, or do I ha e to cut it all to get back to where I had it
I mean just get some one to trim it to where you want it
What if I have a front line taper ? How do I grow it out
Wait about 1 year of growing it out
My hair is nearly to my shoulders and it is undercut sides only , a bit like hawk eye but much longer on top.
Ken Zheng Idk, but I guess even it out. Then work from there.
I mean it should not because hair is basically dead and the hair follicles present on your scalp are alive and provide growth so if talking about the growth rate, it should be the same on both sides unless you have a bit of a hair loss problem or something (I dunno I am not a barber 😂).
Hi I really want an undercut but my hair is sort of thin and my barbers cant do it
What do I do?
What if I just want to get rid of the undercut man bun and grow the whole head man bun to have long hair all around
Styling suggestions for an undercut shaved on one side
could you do an example with curly hair
I wanna grow out my undercut but the only issue is that I bleached my hair that was longer for the undercut and I’ve been dying it 🥲 I mean maybe short colored ends are in lol. If all else fails, dark red hair dye
The haircut you have shown up on third what is the name of that
This man needs a trophy or something
Had a side shave for about 2 years, now letting it grow (i loved it but looking for more styling options with a different cut). What im doing is have a middle part to hide it 😅
So have an undercut and messed up my bangs portion .. so I have no clue whether to trim my bangs short or let it grow there not even an inch
I got bored in isolation and tried to do my own undercut.
I fucked up.
It's a hidden undercut so I can hide it.
But I would like it to grown it out quickly 😂😂
Very helpful thankyou
I can style myself best my hair for minimal do , for max
Where is your barber shop
I wish this guy could cut my hair...
Loved this video. I love my undercut but keeping it trimmed sucks.
@@TheSalonGuy How do you find stylists that know how to do this???
Why couldn't you just get skin fades while leaving the top then disconnect once you have adequate length on top?
I use a wig until it grows to 2 inches then I trim the top a bit and use box braids until it grows to 4 inches then hello buns and ponytails with gel… 😊
I have my sides shaved all the way to the top like the first mannequin head, but I’ve been growing the hair on top for 2 years. Now I want to grow out my sides but it’s gonna look sooo strange. My barber just left her job so now I don’t have a barber I trust to help me with this :/
ngl i just want that armin arlert season 4 cut
My hair is almost the length of the 3rd head. I like my hair combed back but it's hard since it kinda does a weird curl to the left at this length and then I have a cow-lick going to the right. It just looks awkward. I feel like I'm almost there but this awkward look makes me want to just cut it short again
I got a under cut 3 years ago and as you can tell from my picture it’s way too high all the way around so I have one patch of long hair, I’m so tired of this style and I want to grow it out but I still have to go to school as an 8th grader and people suck so do you have any advice on growing out all of my hair.
I think it looks good on you
hey steve if i wanted the first maniquens haircut but as a fringe and around nose length what would i say (i have wavy/curly hair)
What if we’re trying to grow it out to eventually be long enough to braid into the “Viking” styles? Quick Video on that please? Do I keep putting it into a pony tail/manbun and shaving the sides or just let the sides grow and not even bother getting a haircut?
I wanna geT a combination of messy wolf cut and undercut
What a legend
I'm trying to grow my hair out from a fade on the sides and 3-4 inches on top.
Same it sucks
Did you end up growing it out?
@@nickeastwood8125 same and the left side is shorter than the right side
Thank you sir. I recently cut my hair well I had it shaved on the sides and long on top. This is going to be a challenge for me as it has grown out only a little and I want to shave the sides BUT I want it to grow out at the same time ughhh.. Im letting it grow out this should be interesting.. although I'm pretty sure I can have a bob by spring.. Thank you again sir 🙏💞💯💫💇
Great job steve... 👍👍👍
thank you very much, the advice was raw lol but you got right!
How do I grow my hairs faster and healthier
Why do you need to grow the sides out? Why can’t you just grow the top and get regular trims on the sides?
Where is this guy id love for him to set me up with a non braided bojorn haircut from vikings
Hey, I am hoping you or someone can help me. I have very thick hair and it’s always been notorious for growing fast. I had/have an undercut, the hair on the top of my head cokes down to past my chin and the back of my neck, but the issue I am having is the back and sides don’t seem to be growing AT ALL!! They have grown in a bit about a year ago and stayed about an inch for at the whole time. It’s majorly stressing me out. Any tips or advice or explanation would help a lot as I am majorly stressing about it now! Thanks
