I had an undercut , I loved it very much but I’ll never do it again bc of the high maintenance of the cut & time it takes to grow out . It took a whole year just for the hair to grow to the end of my ear and it didn’t blend at all with the rest of my hair . You have to kind of keep cutting it into a bob . Love your videos !!!

I had initially thought my undercut would be low maintenance. But your right. It is high maintenance. I ended up purchasing my own clippers to save money keeping it low. Now I want just the nape (small portion) cut and want my sides back. My hair comes down and covers it all. But the journey to grow it back out is gonna take me a year +. I loved it but wont be shaving down my sides again.
nikki10039 i did the same thing bought some clippers to maintain my cut bc I liked mine really short all around so I had to cut weekly ! It took me a year n a half to be comfortable with the grown out length and still I had to keep cutting my hair into bobs to blend the hair . It’s a pain in the butt girl

Well I have wavy hair and my hair can stretch and o my top lip
1. you can use coconut oil on your hair and massaging your scalp and leaving it in your hair fir 3-5 hours and then rinse it off
2.only shampoo your hair every 3 days and use conditioner every day make sure you leave it on for 5 minutes and really massage the scalp
3. Eat healthy fruits veggies good meat like fish chicken steak
4. Don’t cut your hair
5. And don’t use sketchy hair products

I was growing my hair out. It was going good. I cheated on my barber. Ended up with a hard part comb over. Had to buzz all my hair off and start again 😭
bruh same thing happened almost, barber fucked up my hair was growing the top out for 6 months (5 inches) after buzzing it the first time. how long was ur hair before u buzzed it?
End Me my barber did a comb over and trimmed one side more than the other. But I haven't shaved it off and let it go out

Same. I’m trying to do that now. I got an undercut before lockdown and now the sides and back are about 4” while my top is about 15”. I’m trying to grow my hair long but don’t want it to look like I have a layer of hair sitting on top of my shorter hair. So this vid was helpful. It doesn’t totally give me the answer I needed, but it definitely took care of a piece of the puzzle.
I feel ya the top of my hair is down to my shoulders and my sides are about half an inch long 😭 it’s starting to look weird and I don’t know whether to let the side just grow and when all of my hair is past my shoulders I’ll cut it evenly or just shave the undercut again 😭

This is really helpful. Every 3 months or so, slightly trim your top, and in about 6-7 months, (for my style) all your hair will be grown on all sides of your head.
In my case, I will probably have to wait another 4 years to get my hair to my desired length, since I have shoulder lenght hair that I've been growing since 2019...

I started with an undercut in October and I've been letting it grow out and my long term goal is to grow it out to where it's all the same length and reaches my shoulder blades. Need advice on the best way to do that please.

Let the sides reach the shoulders then cut the top to have it even with the sides
I have a tip on growing out an undercut. If you got and undercut with NO taper, growing out is going to look porcupine-ish. So....when it starts to look porcupiney: If you started out at 1/8", do a skin fade. When that grows a out little, undercut it again WITH a taper.....say, 1/2 " down to 1/8". Next month, drop that taper line down towards the ear. So now you're starting at 1" and taper down to whatever. Keep going like this and it will get to a point where ot blends in with the top part. And you can avoid the bushy sided.
I’ve grown my hair out for about a year now. Startet with a cut like the first example, but actrully longer on top. Trust me its fine. Do not get any cuts. It looks awesome now🤟🏻

🙋♀️ Lady here.. growing out my undercut.. trying to look cute again. I have MAJORLY thick hair and got the undercut to lessen the stress of "doing" my hair every day... Got more stressed about how often I had to get my undercut taken care of. Also, it was getting really expensive going to the salon every few weeks to a month. Google brought me to your video. ❤️
Did you do the Newsted undercut with clean sides or faded sides? The Newsted one is easier to maintain imo, just get shaving machine men use instead of razor and use that (it might not be best idea as you don't see back of your head but it can be done, plus it's safe than regular hair trummer

Guys just let your undercut grow. I grew mine out with the top of my hair, I didn’t get a trim or anything I just lend it grow until it finally blended in with my top hair and now it looks like I never had an undercut.
How long did that take and how long was your hair

Yeah mine the top is really long I can tie it up like a ponytail but I want the sides and back same length so your advices are helpful but I m just gonna let it grow naturally and accept it's gonna break all the mirrors for a while not stressing about it that's key for hair growth! :)

2:46 The biggest issue is that some people's hair grows out straight on the sides of their head(more typical with Asian and Latino hair). So basically you end up with potentially a very unattractive look trying to grow it out it will cause your front facial profile to look weird. Until the hair grows out long enough it won't lay down :(
Yes pretty much but that is what product is for and getting the right cut to help it grow
If you're lucky enough (like me) to a point where you don't attend formal event (like weddings, parties, etc.) often, you could just wear a hat or a cap while the sides grow out, until they're long enough to lay down :)

Getting ready to grow out my undercut that ive had since 2014..i tried once didnt work lol this helps but finding a stylist who can work w my hair is hard.
If your hair is long on the top then I'd just part it to where it covers the sides and back more,then wear a hat or a beanie to keep it in place

I would prefer to be entirely fucking bald then have a bald spot, comb over or a extreme receding hairline.
I had a mess up n a disconnected undercut was the only way to fix it. Learned i dont like it, n im fighting the urge to chop it all off as i want long hair XD
Luckily enough, its the end of the summer right now. I can let the sides grow n hide the shame under hats till its a good length now XD

Awesome advise. Thank you so much. I cut my own hair (don't fret, I did go to cosmetology school) so this is helpful. I have an undercut that I've been growing for about 6 months now, it's maybe around 5in long.... my top, I've been trimming to cover the undercut, but it's at the point now where I can pretty much blend it in. I just don't want to do a lot of layers. I think if I pull the undercut straight out and trim off the top ends that stick out, it should blend decently, yes?
That first mannequin head with the extreme undercut, is there product in that hair? Or does it look that badass just on its own? I’m trying to grow my hair out like this and just want to know what I might be in for
I am wondering the same. I have the exactly hair type when I got out of the shower (like a bit curly), but literally when I wake up next day it isn't that curly, it's more straight and less "badass". What product can I use for have those "curly" look stay for some days?

So umm i have a question...when we do that undercut and grow hair to one side ,should we comb in the direction we always do or the opposite?
I just got an undercut it's like a 2 on the sides and back and it's about an inch below my chin and the top is all the same length I'm letting the top grow past my chest and keeping the undercut...if u want to grow out the sides then go in and cut about half an inch to an inch a month off the top then keep growing the sides so while the sides grow the top stays the same then eventually it will catch up to the top

I rocked an undercut for a long while, usually had my friend do it for me with a #2 on the sides and back and just trim up the tips of the top (about 6-8 inches in length on top). Then I decided I wanted to grow it all out and I just started to let it grow and only had my friend trim up the tips of the long bit. . The top is almost 24 inches in length and its weight keeps it very straight but the sides and back are about 8-10 inches and quite wavy, but just falling onto the shoulders. I am waiting for the sides and back to weigh themselves down to cut it all to one length.

Hi Salon Guy :) I want to try an undercut with very long hair in a bun on top (viking style). At the moment my hair is like 25 Inches and i am wearing a bun almost always. I am 36 years old and the last time i had short hair is more than 15 years ago. I am a little scared because i really dont want to loose the "bun".

Would anyone have recommendations for someone who doesn’t want to cut his top? I’m willing to trim but I have grown it out past my chin. About a half inch past. I haven’t cut my sides in about 5 months.
I use a wig until it grows to 2 inches then I trim the top a bit and use box braids until it grows to 4 inches then hello buns and ponytails with gel… 😊

The best barber in my city is bald. He’s a badass too. You don’t have to consume a trade to have mastered it.
Why do you need to grow the sides out? Why can’t you just grow the top and get regular trims on the sides?

I'm not a professional, but you may need to ask the stylist if they could possibly turn the music down when you go? if not, you can always buy earplugs ☺️

My hair is almost the length of the 3rd head. I like my hair combed back but it's hard since it kinda does a weird curl to the left at this length and then I have a cow-lick going to the right. It just looks awkward. I feel like I'm almost there but this awkward look makes me want to just cut it short again
