I'm an old guy (almost 70), and I agree with TuberOnTheLoose - I have never seen anything like this. My wife and I started dating in 1966, and this was one of my favorite songs from that period. The scene where the ballerina tosses the snowflakes, and they melt into the soldier's heart - is such a beautiful metaphor for what I felt when we first fell in love... and now, 50 years later. Thank you so much for doing this. It made my day. :-)
If you've never felt this way about a girl, you have missed one of the paramount experiences of your entire life, and I pity you...mine was in college, and she broke my heart to pieces in the sweetest way imaginable...after fifty years, the ache, the loss, is still there...
+Gerald Jensen I too had a somewhat same experience. My high school sweetheart broke mine when I was in Texas serving Sam in 69. But today K.P. and I are as close as a brother and his sister could be.
God love you. Every woman on earth wishes she knew what that experience of being loved so passionately was. I have so many friends to this day ask me if I regret because my first love did not work out: better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all is not a cliche for no reason at all, folks.
the classic rock station played this yesterday, had to email them to get them to tell me what it was, and they just responded, a great melody that brings back happy memories
Written in a combination of Lydian and Mixolydian modes. Hence - the uncommon sound to our ears.! (And beautiful.) With the addition of this Russian Video - this is just a gem of artistry.
Wow! what a trip down memory lane! The first time I got up the courage to ask a girl to a dance, she kissed me on the cheek, and said yes! (I was a highschool sophomore.) This song was in my head all day. (Of course I have no recollection of anything my teachers tried to teach me that day!)
Hello to all the romantics with good taste in music. good luck finding anything as lovely, peaceful, soothing to watch or listen. amazing how someone can create something that touches so many. :- ) thanks for posting
seems like the soldier had to navigate the treacherous waters of war and as he goes down with the ship his thoughts turn to the most joyful part of his life, his time with the pretty ballerina
You did a terrific editing job! Your film enhances the poignance of the song. I never cried to this song before, but yet, I felt tears. The abstraction of the animation is just enough to move one's imagination to some emotional memories that have no words. Ethereal.
Real, real, nice. Really brings you back, when music was such a part of our growing up. There were so many great artists , who had good wholesome lyrics to go with creative melodies.
I shared this with my echocardiogram tech. She found the heartburst animation fetchingly beautiful. Personally, I just cry over the little toy soldier's plight, and remember the past.
This is so sweet and so a ballerina, story with a man. I get it. Tons of movies, but this is such a sweet story....of this song. Such a romantic story...such a tear.
How funny!put a good set of earphones on close your eyes your all Alone! for a few minutes you can go back for a time. to when this was popular I believe 1967 ? then open them. and your back in 2016! can you imagine that! only your heart and you know what you experienced Thanks for posting this fine music
Thanks again for this cryingly beautiful post. I worked in ballet business for decades which gives a unique insight into this world. Sincere regards douglas poet, pianist, organist, viola, guitar etc in SD CA
Very nice, loving & touching video adaptation of the Left Banke's classic - a work of love indeed - thank you for sharing this work with the community, have a nice Holidays, Ciao, L
Very nice work! These images go very well with the beautiful song. I chose it as one of my favourites for the Top 2000 in the Netherlands, it should rate high in that list of evergreens.
And my granddaughter can dance like this n is 11 n she started at 5 yrs. So she goes to different cities to dance. She can jump high. So they call her the flier. My own daughter won't talk to me. But this is what I hear n see the picture s of my granddaughter Dancing.

When I read the comments, I realize how much we are all the same. Our souls have all been profoundly touched by this hauntingly beautiful song.
Right said Brett!!
Beautiful, but what a terribly sad song; maybe the saddest song ever written about unrequited love.
This song is a classic. I loved it in 1966. Beautifully done to this 1959 animation!

+Gerald Jensen Any man worth his salt has had a similar experience. But in the long run it is still worth it.

IT'S AS BEAUTIFUL TODAY AS IT WAS IN THE 60'S..
Written in a combination of Lydian and Mixolydian modes. Hence - the uncommon sound to our ears.! (And beautiful.) With the addition of this Russian Video - this is just a gem of artistry.

Amazing song, amazing visual, damn near perfect. Mad props.
This Left Banke record made a huge impact on the radio in Ottawa, Canada back in the day. Still a timeless classic!
The video reminds me of the Hans Christian Anderson story of the Steadfast Tin Soldier who fell in love with a paper ballerina.
A very very beautiful and timeless classic, by talented young men so hard to find today.
You did a terrific editing job! Your film enhances the poignance of the song. I never cried to this song before, but yet, I felt tears. The abstraction of the animation is just enough to move one's imagination to some emotional memories that have no words. Ethereal.
So beautiful...haunting..
The 30 thumbs down must be utterly soulless. So very sad as they can't see the beauty in the song or video..
