great review - for me, the episode was laughable, forgettable, awkward and embarrassing - and that's precisely what we've come to expect from Discovery. Subsequent episodes are unlikely to be any more memorable or enlightening.

You're also right. The two are more alike than willing to admit... could it be that the writers grew? If so, great on them. They can use it in thier careers!

I tried it and couldn't get into it. They broke far too many canon subjects like Spok never had a sister being the biggest problem. It was a stupid idea to rewrite canon to begin with.

Great to see you back, hope you're doing well. This show though eh? Still a thing? I'd thought it died 2 or so years ago. Ah well, it'll be over soon. I like your reviews, even if its of a thing I find as interesting as reading a EULA.

What I really like about this season so far is that while it is still serialized like previous seasons it's also a little bit episodic with them going to a new planet each episode, I love that. It feels like they're taking on board what people like about Strange New Worlds while still retaining Discovery's style. I'm enjoying this season a lot so far, it's a lot of fun and I love a good treasure hunt, and I think Episode 2 was even better tbh!

I too am glad they are not dangling everything as a mystery. Previous seasons wouldn’t have revealed the progenitors till much later on.
Over all I thought it was an ok enough set up for a season that might be ok. I always found it odd that Progenitors were never really dealt with again. Although I was hoping for some Iconian stuff too, so I guess we’re not getting that.

Very happy that they're trying to give us something a little more straightforward. Feels like a sign that they've listened and are trying to go out on a high - interested to see how things unfold!

I want to know if anyone else picked up on the (not so) subtle change to the TNG story. In it, the being at the end talks about seeding the galaxy wit humanoid life, not "creating" humanoid life as Kovich states. Presumably, these beings are not responsible for the origins of humanoid life, rather they spread it across the galaxy.
I hope ths show doesn't continue on this path. In my view, it changes the fundamental meaning of the TNG episode it bases the premise of the whole season on.

That's very interesting, something I didn't pick up on my first watch. I'll have to watch it back, but I'd be disappointed if this was some sort of retcon and, you're right, that is quite a substantial change.

I can only rate it the best way I can... in comedy. 6 out of ten. Burnham getting hit with Space debris was funny, but there should have been more to it.

ok my brutal honest opinion, I felt like captain Rayner, enough with the reminiscing, remember when we did this that BS geez get a room fade out and never talk about it again mikey B, next really riding on top of a star ship at warp, next why didn't they just target the ships engines while they were coming to stop the avalanche 2 things at once, next did anyone dare to tell Tilley to go on a diet and can we stop pretending she's the one all the guys want to sleep with, next why and how does Mikey B have or still have a ship she disobeyed direct orders (Red Directive) what 5 times just in this episode who would ever think she is qualified to be a captain. sorry ranting will I watch the series sure but it's not like I'm counting the days when I do I do. get back to Captain Pike and strange new worlds or a seven of nine Jeri Ryan series..

I really wish they would have dropped all the Star Trek conceits, and released Discovery as a stand-alone sci-fi series completely un-associated with Star Trek. I could like this series far more if the Federation was nowhere in sight. I'd still find it stupid as hell, and geared towards children, but at least it would not be putting nails in Star Trek.
Star Trek characters should not be CGI renders placed on Star Wars speeders or surfing on the back of spaceships travelling at warp.
I will not be watching the balance of the season. I can't watch an old friend commit Seppuku, and Discovery leaves Star Trek's entrails scattered across time/space.
Thank the gods that Strange New Worlds chose to be an actual Star Trek series. The other proposed spin-offs sound like more Discovery garbage. Roddenberry must be on a rotissery in his grave with all his turning over.

Critic is not hate. If you do not like critic you should stay of the comments. Everybody has a right to there opinion. If the makers can not Stick to Canons or even good wrinting it is to be called out. If they made it more Star wars everybody should call it out. Therd is not hate in stating facts. Grow up.
