I found that a very interesting presentation. As a layman and an experienced observer of life, I know that there are definitely individuals who actually enjoy fighting, they don't seem to be concerned about injury to themselves or others or any consequences that might arise from their violent actions. As a non aggressive person I have actively avoided these types, but I recognise them in an instant.

The connection between having this gene and experiencing maltreatment early in life is probably much higher than mere randomness. If it is inherited from a father, that father is more prone to aggression which may be directed at family members.

I would say you are probably pretty correct with this everything you said is true for my family except my father dosnt really get aggressive per say with his kids he’s just quick to put his foot down and tell us to fk off if he’s annoyed lol

No, the gene is located in the X chromosome, so you’d only get it from your mother.
You still could get abused by her, but she’d need to have both X chromosomes with the mutation to show as males with the sole chromosome.
It wouldn’t be recessive in a woman’s case, as one of women’s X chromosome gets inactivated randomly, so approximately half of her cells would have the mutation active, considering she only had one mutant gene.

I tend to be a very chilled out person and I try my best to avoid conflict. My problem is that sometimes when I encounter a rude or aggressive person it's like a switch flips and I start to physically shake and I become hyper aggressive. It's almost suicidal behaviour. It hasn't happened for at least 10 years but last time it did I ended up getting in a fight with a bloke who was in a group of 12. Lucky for me the rest were happy to let us two fight it out alone or I probably would still need a feeding tube today. No idea if I have this gene expression, or if I'm just mentally ill but it's almost uncontrollable. I've worked very hard to control it since then but it's really hard. I'm also now suffering from depression and anxiety which never affected me before. I have no outlet for my aggressive feelings and so it feels like it's building up. I've thought about maybe going to boxing classes but I don't know how I'd handle it. I just can't seem to do anything about this stress and frustration. I'm in the UK and I have tried going to my GP for help but they just tried me on a bunch of different antidepressants which had various effects such as making me sleep 16 hours a day to making me shake uncontrollably. Beyond that, they're not helping at all. I don't know why I'm sharing this here but I guess I need to tell someone.

I am the same in many ways. Rather chill and my fights always found me not the other way around.
But when they did find me I'd get into fights so bad either side dying was a legitimate concern for anyone unfortunate enough to see them. I've managed to keep them few especially now in my older years but if there was no one around to restrain me at that time I probably wouldn't be writing this comment or seeing the sun for many years if not my lifetime.
I managed to get it to where I can basically take anything you verbally throw at me even on some bad days. But as soon as someone gets physical like say shoving I instantly lose my mind and then after that moment it's no longer me behind the steering wheel.
I also did martial arts but I never sparred against anyone and I'm not sure it would end well if I did. I'm sure in a friendly sparring match in say boxing if I was punched in the face it would happen all over again.
Which is a damn shame as I would love to pit myself against someone else in such a situation.
I've done my own fair share of therapy for years but that same rage is still completely there I just have been fortunate enough to where the situation never arose that gave it a chance of coming out

Aggression can be caused by an over stimulus of fear
Growing up in a bad neighbours in Glasgow during the knife pandemic we had. We were in a constant state of fight or flight. And flight wasn't an option because then yous be picked on forever more. So we all tended to be hyper vigilant and aggressive whenever we came act any sort of situations that was confrontational. Looking back I can see that I was just an outward projection of my fear and it's something that now as a man in his 30s I still haven't got under full control much to my embarrassment although I am a lot better than I was 10 years ago say. Aggression is a superpower and as men especially our survival hinges on it but it's learning to control it to your betterment that the true superpower lies

I have found no evidence of Brunner downplaying MAOA's role in Brunner syndrome. The 2002 Caspi study explicitly looked at the "environmental" factor for the purpose of disputing "genetic determinism," but the study does not prove that environmental exposure causes the interaction rather than genetic confounding. The Fergusson et al study found multiple other interaction factors, including IQ.

Recognizing triggers early is very helpful because once it starts it takes me awhile to calm down. I got this from father and passed it on to my daughter (41) and son (39). None of us has ever been in trouble because of our anger though thank goodness!

Aggression and violent behavior isn't the same thing. I find that most humans are aggressive more or less. It's not hard to make them angry. Just drive too slow on the road or give them any chance to get a break from their boring, empty existence. Most of them love arguments and often about nothing. Then there are really sick individuals who can beat others to a bloody pulp. It's different from having an aggressive attitude.
