Iberia had ordered wider plane, but without exploiting it's additional width, and leaving more space for passengers? Unbelievably respectful decision indeed
@@hanj31 I think with a 777 you could just get away with it. The 777X is wider still, so i’m hopeful that would be a good 10-abreast airplane. But of course, less dense equals more comfort, not gonna deny.
Much respect for Iberia for not squeezing the last possible seat in and go for some passenger comfort. But the refusal of filmin onboard is quite weird, especcially when they got a new shiny product to show.
Had the privilege to fly both Premium Economy and Economy on the new A350-900 NEXT of Iberia and it's truly game-changing for them. They used to fly old and not-so-comfortable planes (especially the old A330, still in service, unfortunately) that make the journey boring and unbearable BUT from now on everything is different. The new premium economy seat was AMAZING and so was the catering and all the amenities. Super relaxed, comfortable, modern, and personalized. The regular economy class seat was superb too, again the catering tasted incredible and both the seat and the screen were wider than even top-notch airlines. AMAZING upgrade Iberia! Well done.
Sad that the crew isnt happy about the filming, I feel like airlines should make it VERY CLEAR on their website/terms and conditions about filming to prevent any types of confusion.
Several staff at IAG were furloughed then basically sacked after Covid19. I can imagine some crew are just a little jittery about filming as they don't want to be in the next wave of potential redundancy. Also Spanish transport employees are still highly security conscious after the Madrid train bombings. My guess is a combination of both led to them being a bit more hardline than many other crew. It was a decent video and very useful for might flight to South America in February 2024.
Airlines do make it clear about not filming. For those who are still unclear, just ask. Now where do you work? I'd love to show up and shove a camera in your face.
I remember flying on Iberia in 2013-2014 and they were easily one of the worst airlines I'd been on. Flew with them last year and they've improved a lot! I'm glad that Iberia has been getting even better now
With the filming you did, it was great, I LOVE your Brutality Honest! Sad for their crew to be afraid of what they do NOT know. You gave an excellent review. I look forward to your next adventure David. The voice over explains everything. Since having a stroke in 2019, I have problems reading the subtitles to explain. So you make your videos more enjoyable for me, at least.
I flew from Munich via Madrid to Lima with Iberia business recently. It was a very good experience from beginning to end. Iberia improved a lor the recent years.
I last flew with Iberia some 20 years ago 😂. It was a flight from Amsterdam to Vigo via Barcelona (or was it Madrid?). Our plane was delayed at Schiphol and we missed our connection to Vigo. Our plane literally passed the other plane on the taxiway! 😂
Hello David, you probably want to give some thought to reorder the playlists to latest first, as to binge the brutally honest series, i'm seeing oldest videos that have cabins already probably refurbished by now first. Just a thought!
The only long haul flight I had with IB was MAD-SCL back in 2017 on their A340-600. I remembered back then, they served ham sandwiches in the galley throughout the flight and u can even ask for eyeshades. Pre-landing snack was a hot ham&cheese croissant but couple more light bites inside the box.
My favorite flight review channel! Also, great job presenting good information about the flight with an upbeat attitude, despite perhaps not the best personal experience with the crew. You maintain the enthusiasm for flight which is one reason we like to watch these type of videos. Good job!
I’ve flown Iberia both inside Spain and Transatlantic to California and Theyre good. Not the best but not Bad, my crews have been quiet but attentive, the food was good too. The only issue I have with them is that they get undercutt pricewise more often than not.
You guys should consider flying Uzbekistan Airways, they gave me a positive surprise when I flew with them recently As for Iberia, I am honestly surprised that your review was too positive for what I would think as an average product overall
Totally agree with you that it's an average product only... What I think is maybe David's compliment to them is a satire or sarcasm for not letting him film the video properly...🤣 He wants to show the airline that despite not being allowed to film, he is still posting positive reviews for them... 🤷🏻♂️
Iberia tiene la tripulación más mediocre del segmento (desde mi punto de vista) y lo que ofrece es lo básico que ofrecen las aerolíneas del continente europeo y americano.
Flew on this recently from Boston to Madrid. Was supposed to have been the A330 so a it of a surprise. Gate agent moved us to the first economy row behind premium economy so leg room was epic. Crew was friendly but non existent once meal service was complete. Seat was great, food was good, plane was quite and comfortable. I assume we had older config because I don’t remember the phone holder.
Next week's video is the Delta A330neo. I flew on Delta's A330neo last year on the BOS-TLV-BOS route in Comfort Plus and I will be doing that same route in Comfort Plus in two weeks time
Iberia's premuim economy seats are really good for long haul flights. The amenity kit has the basics, and there are pre departure (non alcoholic) drinks. My only complaint is the seat doesn't use the 3.5mm headphone jack, but this was with the previous model. Aren't Iberia Plus members offered free messaging in this flight? On a MAD-EZE flight I signed up to be in contact with my family on take off and approach, and it worked flawlessly.
I fly Iberia business about six times a year and about half the times I experience rude flight crews, usually the senior members of the crews not the younger staff, Iberia needs to clean house and get rid of these old cancers.
Completely agree, a mexican aunt of mine flying from Mexico City to Madrid says the same, they are women embittered by tedious work and also have menopause, resulting in permanent bad temper and rudeness. The problem is that laying them off is very expensive, I know it because my own sister is an Iberia stewardess
Thank you for your intrepidness in the face of such adversity from Iberia's cabin crew, shame about the unjustified paranoia, you did a great job considering!
I flew on this flight in June 2023 and I was impressed. I thought the food was above average and the entertainment system was way better than the competition. I will definitely fly with them again.
There used to be a saying that I used when buying a new car since '70s: The Sales Department sell me my first car. the Service Department will decide if I buy another. I have used this maxim in many places since and it certainly applies here regarding the flight attendants. We flew Iberia from Madrid to Cape Town in an Iberia A340-600 in the 2000s. No IFE, inedible catering and indifferent unhelpful flight attendants. We haven't wasted our money on them since.
Very fair report. You're right, Iberia has all the boxes checked off in economy class. It just needs to upgrade cuisine somewhat to polish the overall service. If it's a case of economics, Iberia should consider offering a small charge to give economy passengers a much finer dinning experience. I think most passengers would pay it, especially on long haul flights.
I flew Iberia in 2019, business class from JFK to Madrid. The cabin and the service itself wasn't good or bad.. just average, but that was my first flight ever on the A350-900, and the aircraft was great! I've since flown on the A350-1000 with Qatar Airways, also in 2019 and that was a great flight. I had the opportunity to upgrade to qsuites and didn't do it. I wish I had because nowadays the upgrades are ridiculously expensive.
Hi David, this is, as usual, a great flight review. As a Taiwanese aviation enthusiast, I am wondering if it is possible for you to give Starlux Airlines a try. Thank you.

Travelled MAD-EZE, EZE-MAD, MAD-BOG, BOG-MAD 2 weeks ago and for me the main issue with economy class is the width of the seat. It is hard to find a good position to sleep. But the experience was really good.
I flew from MAD to LHR on their A330s and being 187cm tall, the seats are shockingly poor pitch-wise. It's difficult to find a decent economy seat for us tall people haha. J class on the other hand from LHR to MAD on their A359s is brilliant and well worth the €69 upgrade.
Nice trip report, I have to try Iberia on long haul (I did tried their A350 and A330, but in business class to London) but seems like pretty good on long haul flights. When I will fly to Brazil in winter I will try to book it with them as I live in Madrid it should be an option.
