What you see here is really Randy Bachman. The kindest man in R&R. I’ve known him since the 70’s and he’s the real deal. The R&R HOF needs to induct both The Guess Who and BTO. And even better if they would do it the same year. Can you imagine one artist being inducted twice on the same night. Wow, needs to happen.

I'll tell you what Randy I'm grateful for growing up the the sixties and seventies listening to The Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive. These are memories that I'll have forever. Thanks!
I was 12 and was flying by myself from Dayton, Ohio to see my grandparents in Pennsylvania. I had bought the 45 of These Eyes by The Guess Who. I loved that song and lost it on the jet. I was heartbroken. Definitely the Guess Who and BTO were one of my favorite bands. Still are. Gosh, they just don't make songs like they did back then. I feel so lucky to have grown up in the 60's and the 70's. Thanks for the info.

WOW!!!! GREAT INTERVIEW!!! I commuted 1 and 1/2 hours one way to college in 1974 and BTO playing on the AM Radio got me through! BTO EARNED my college degree!!!
I saw Randy Bachmann in Toronto three times. It's a Christmas tradition in my house now. We drive to Toronto for 14 hours and go see randy play every year.
Randy is one of my favorite personalities in music and I’ll never forget dancing and singing with him on the dance floor at a nightclub near Fort Polk LA!
First, the Guess Who just had hit after hit after hit when I was in grade school. Burton's voice is incredible, I'm absolutely awed by the sound. Then at 14 I'm playing rhythm guitar to BTO albums as I learn how to play. So simple but catchy as all get-out. Roll On Down the Highway might be the best song EVER!
Absolutely wild man. Songwriting can go to the most intense of lengths, and they are what make stories of the songs just as powerful as the song itself. Cheers man.
Sometimes, if not often, classic rock songs have an interesting and hilarious backstory to them. I'm sure today's songs don't have that going for them.
Love your show. I listen whenever I have a 15 min or more drive or wait in my car. Thanks Randy is right about family. My brother and I have a thing.. we say "Yep' whenever we are together and something fun or stupid happens. The soundtrack of our youth!!!
Thanks, Adam, I always enjoy hearing Randy tell his stories and he is generous to share them and the pizza guy story is an instant classic, so much crazy collaborations back in the day. And that sounds like a fun show, Takin' Care of Christmas. 🙂
That is a great man! I'm glad he overcame so many adversities and is still rocking - what a legend! There are very few people out there I like to listen to - but Randy Bachman I could listen for hours and never get bored; he's such an incredible story-teller!
When Randy said, taking care of Christmas, was I the only one who sang “taking care of Christmas every day”?😂 This is a great, great song! I love songs with great vocal harmonies, and this is one of them!
Like all other rock bands we'd haul out TCB whenever the occasion seemed right. But after I heard Randy's Takin' Care of Christmas we started singing that version during the holidays. Goes over just fine, even though most folks haven't heard it. I do usually have to explain that it isn't something I made up, but is actually a Randy Bachman song. Fun stuff.
Where is you sense of humor and open mind. When we were in our teens, my brother and I wouldn’t be caught dead listening to bubble gum music. When we were in our 50’s, I put together a playlist of bubble gum music and we had a blast singing out loud to Sugar Sugar, Yummy Yummy Yummy, and others. What fun we had laughing and singing along. So lighten up and just enjoy the silly, catchy tunes and words.
Let It Ride came out when I was in high school. It's a song I played over and over. I also remember participating in an all-night skate-a-thon and requesting Stayed Awake All Night repeatedly throughout. One of my fav bands of all time.
Another great story! Getting boxed in by truckers going 50, flipping them off and going 35. Then pulling off to get gas and having reasoning with one trucker only to hear, "LET IT RIDE, MAN." "What does that mean, what does that mean?" Too funny!! Now I have to hear about the stutter. Sounds magnificent!!! ❤
My buddy had a car. I had bought an 8 track player then my car busted so we put player in his car. Only had one 8 track tape Not Fragile. Over and over and over...... We saw no need for a different tape. I know every word every break every solo..
Let It Ride is one of my all time favorite songs ever. Big Sugar does a blistering cover of it. Let It Ride is one of those shiver songs, I get them every time I hear it.
You should do a collaboration video on a great song with Rick Beato. You could do the backstories and genesis of the song, and he could analyze why the music is great.
Anything Randy Bachman get A from me..going all the way back to Guess Who. With so much great music, bands and singers around 1969-1970...the Guess Who wrote and played some of the greatest hits...I still play No time left for you just because I love it.
Ahhhhh, the music of my youth. Randy Bachman is such a legend and icon. I've known years of joy listening to his work. A simpler time, with better music. Such a good man.
Bachman is such a cool dude. He is still very much alive and looks great. He's a fighter and a survivor. I was a kid, born in '70 and remember when Taking Care of Business would play in AM radio and loving it! I was 4, but I remember that song as one of my earliest songs to remember. Doobie Brothers and all of them were always on the radio. Great time musically.

Randy is absolutely one of my favorite people on earth! I saw BTO live many times in the 70s and The Guess who's "these eyes " has made me cry since the first time i heard it! Live long Mr. B. Peace!❤❤❤
This is my favorite BTO song. I remember getting it on my Time-Life Guitar Rock collection on CD in the 90's. Great stuff!
Time Life always went for the memories.
WOW!!!! GREAT INTERVIEW!!! I commuted 1 and 1/2 hours one way to college in 1974 and BTO playing on the AM Radio got me through! BTO EARNED my college degree!!!
That is awesome! Thanks Denise.
Thanks, Randy, for Denise’s degree! You da BOMB! 😂
My favorite BTO song. Great post once again Prof!! Batting 1.000! Thanks my friend.
Rock on! Thanks Mark!
I saw Randy Bachmann in Toronto three times. It's a Christmas tradition in my house now. We drive to Toronto for 14 hours and go see randy play every year.
Unique sound unique song unique band great interview. And the number one thing this came from the 1970's
The best! Thanks Jeffrey!
70s decade was awesome!
These eyes is one of the best, most cherished rock songs.
Randy is always a good interview. I've seen several and he's always entertaining and informative, and he always seems to be excited to be there
100% Agreed
I love him.
Randy is one of my favorite personalities in music and I’ll never forget dancing and singing with him on the dance floor at a nightclub near Fort Polk LA!
Randy seems like such an AWESOME guy! I could watch interview after interview with you two! You do such great work! Thank You!
Adam, thanks for the great interviews with Randy! I grew up with BTO and love his stories about how the songs were made. Awesome stuff.
A rock n roller that actually sounds humble. I'm impressed.
Absolute BTO fan....
Loved the Doobies..and Guess Who.
Thanks for watching Ben!
Ditto. The intros to Listen To The Music and Without Love are what inspired me to take up the guitar.
All three.
@@xxlilly_playsxxkiz9980 yes...
Randy Bachman knows what's what, especially in what he's grateful for.
Great interview! Saw BTO in ‘77! They were awesome!🤘🔥
So cool!
Love to watch BTO live from the Roseland ballroom. All the big bits and still doing it at 70.
Absolutely wild man. Songwriting can go to the most intense of lengths, and they are what make stories of the songs just as powerful as the song itself. Cheers man.
Thanks RC32!
@@ProfessorofRock Always my pleasure man!
It is interesting where songwriters get their inspiration.
@@RC32Smiths01 Really appreciate your DAILY support. Have a great day.
@@ProfessorofRock I really appreciate those words. Always awesome to see new stories and history of music here, it's fun and insightful!
So grateful for this music throughout my teen years.
Sometimes, if not often, classic rock songs have an interesting and hilarious backstory to them. I'm sure today's songs don't have that going for them.
So true. It's a lost art.
Because today’s music is literally about NOTHING.
Love your show.
I listen whenever I have a 15 min or more drive or wait in my car.
Thanks
Randy is right about family.
When Randy said, taking care of Christmas, was I the only one who sang “taking care of Christmas every day”?😂
This is a great, great song! I love songs with great vocal harmonies, and this is one of them!
Ha!
Fun stuff.
Got me too!
Now, THAT is hilarious.
14:44 I caught that too
OMG! The great BTO! I LOVE their songs! 😎
"Yummy, yummy, yummy, I got love in my tummy"... I could have gone another 50 years and not be reminded of that "song".
Are they singing about what I think they're singing about?
My mom used to sing this to me as a little baby…who is to blame?
Hahahaha. Right.
Jen X, Yes they are.
Great content as usual keep them coming!
Thanks! Will do!
Takin' care of Christmas! That is an awesome name for a Christmas show. I've always loved Randy.
Love it!
The Professor already did the "stutter"
Hee hee 😝
I'm obsessed with watching Randy interviews, I've lost count. Seem's like a super nice guy. Love it
Let’s talk 👆👆💬💬❤️❤️..
My buddy had a car.
I had bought an 8 track player then my car busted so we put player in his car.
Only had one 8 track tape
Not Fragile.
Over and over and over......
We saw no need for a different tape.
I know every word every break every solo..
Thanks for sharing!
You put in your 10,000 hours then.
Would love to.
Awesome idea! “The Ultimate Interview: Rick Beato”
Anything Randy Bachman get A from me..going all the way back to Guess Who. With so much great music, bands and singers around 1969-1970...the Guess Who wrote and played some of the greatest hits...I still play No time left for you just because I love it.
12:58 Fun fact: Roger Daltry's scream was the inspiration for Bruce Dickinson's scream on Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast."
Isn't that so Cool!
Playing them back to back makes it glaringly obvious.
