Yes, Randy and his son kept us entertained during the Covid BS on RUclips. He has the respect of his peers and he's OK with that. Rock and Roll Hall of Shame's ultimate victim, being slapped on both cheeks. (Guess Who and BTO)
@@thedudeedbtz Meh the Rock Hall of Fame is crap. At least we know how great they are and appreciate them. And thank you Midnight Special for letting us watch! : )
Went to a couple of "Real Concerts" before I saw them. Notably, Stones, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Steve Miller. However, it was the first concert I went to in my hometown of Colorado Springs at the Penrose Center. An outdoor show right up next to the mountain. Beautiful Setting. But, CS being CS, some drunken GI's from Fort Carson broke down the admission gates & caused a ruckus. They never had a rock concert there again, The show was great though.
@@armybrat75 sounds like a good time to me, excluding the ruckus part. I’ve seen all of those bands too but later down the road. First of the many times I’ve seen the Who was in 1976, the Stones in 1975 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, the Eagles, Montrose with Sammy Hagar and Trapeze opened the show.
Randy is still touring as Bachman-Turner Overdrive in 2024 with hes son Tal "She's So Fine" Bachman. Unfortunately Fred Turner retired in 2018. Randy is the eldest and sole survivor of the four Bachman brothers. R.I.P. Gary, Robbie and Tim Bachman.
Lots of great memories from this song. I remember the shock of hearing the word damn when my dad had me listen to this as a kid. Swearing, even mild words like damn and hell were a big no-no back then and for many more decades later over the radio.
This was when a band was actually required to have good musicians. These guys can all PLAY!! What a bunch of bears, too. A far cry from today’s “I’m a male singer but listen to my high pitched sensitive-sided voice” crap.
The bit in the middle he's playing on the middle, Strat pickup. You can tell if you look at the pickup selector switch. Unless it's wired differently from 'stock' Strat switches, which some guitar players had done in the 70's, Ed King being one of them.
Anyone know the story on Randy’s strat? It appears to be a 50’s body with (I think ) a slab fingerboard neck from a 60’s Tele - but hard to tell as the bottom of headstock appears to have been sawed off. I’m seeing three toggles for pickup selection and what looks like a TV Jones “toaster” pickup in the neck ( I know he was a Gretsch fan so that fits) and a Tele neck pickup in the bridge position. I also saw that the lower tone knob is off. Interesting setup that must have offered a wide variety of tones.
Funny, I just saw that guitar yesterday in an exhibit of his gear at the National Music Centre in Calgary. It was a partscaster he built because he was having back problems from playing LPs.
they didn't play the lyrics, I never played no trumpet, you know I never played no harp no, the preacher said I was born that way with a storm cloud in my heart
Yes, yes that is what we called them back then- but by today's standards- they look pretty fit!!! Great playing by the whole band- Randy and Fred- WOW!
About a twin sound of ccr proud Mary very strange coincidence and a lot of rolling stones influence in the air mick jagger or john forgerty could have easily sung this and made it sound like either had written the lyrics
The Bachman Brothers & Fred Turner, don’t get much better than this!

I don't think there's much film footage of them this far back. First album territory.
There's a great documentary on RUclips following them back in the 70s. A little like the Led Zeppelin documentary. Respect
Randy Bachman is the most underrated Guitarist ever

Randy really had those country influenced chops down.
@@Dan-zq5wt Some jazz influences as well like in Blue Collar and Welcome Home.
Randy Bachman: guitar gentle giant
I love this original lineup of BTO with the three brothers and CF !
I never read my cover when I had this album. I never realized that there were 3 brothers
Whos CF ??
@@malemesjager41 CF turner, the bassist.
@mfrankel8321 thanks,I only knew hom.as Fred.

R.I.P. Robbie and Tim Bachman.
Actually, Robbie is still alive. 81 I believe.

@@runawayushould No unfortunately he passed away in January last year.

Good old fashioned Canadian blue collar rock and roll. BTO was one of the best of Canadian rock.
Still love these gentlemen, Not Fragile and Sledgehammer and 3 others on my alltime list, much respect
Thank you so much Midnight Special, BTO at their best
Great Lineup, The Perfect Band for The Time.
They're awesome! I've always liked their sound and singing.😎😊

A Rockin’ GOOD Tune (!)
They were having a “Hoe Down” in the middle part (!)

Saw B.T.O., in St. John’s, back in 76.
Great Band!
These guys were so good, I got to see them in 1989 at the county fair. They had reformed to do a summer tour. So cool
No holding back… this sure is Special! ❤BTO!
That riff and the bass walkdown gets stuck in your head like crazy glue. LOL

BTO burning as always!
que tal voz de Turner espectacular y en vivo..igualito al disco
BTO quickly replaced the country influences evident in this early song with a more straight-ahead, hard-driving sound. It worked! 🤑

I've never heard these BTO songs.
This song reminds me of a BTO version of Proud Mary. The verse is definitely a similar melody.
Randy Bachman , Robbie Bachman y Tim Bachman ; junto con Fred Turner
I never noticed this before, but is the headstock on Randy's strat splintered?
they didn't play the lyrics, I never played no trumpet, you know I never played no harp no, the preacher said I was born that way with a storm cloud in my heart
Kinda CCR like obviously...its all Boogie rock baby...swamp rock got some Boogies in it.
BTO sounding like CCR, does it get better!?!?

Creo que la banda nunca toco en sudamerica, hubiera sido epico, en los 90s en peru sono bastante, sobre todo en las fiestas de colegio...
