Lyrics:
Bitterness and burden
Curses rest on thee
Solitaire and sorrow
All Eternity
Save the Earth and claim perfection
Deem the mass and blame rejection
Hold the pose, reign perception
Grudges break your back
All you bear
All you carry
All you bear
Place it right on, right on me
Die as you suffer in vain
Own all the grief and the pain
Die as you hold up the skies
Atlas, Rise!
How does it feel on your own?
Bound by the world all alone
Crushed under heavy skies
Atlas, Rise!
Crucify and witness
Circling the sun
Bastardize and ruin
What have you become?
Blame the world, and blame your maker
Wish ‘em to the undertaker
Crown yourself the other savior
So you carry on
All you bear
All you carry
All you bear
Place it right on me, right on me
Die as you suffer in vain
Own all the grief and the pain
Die as you hold up the skies
Atlas, Rise!
How does it feel on your own?
Bound by the world all alone
Crushed under heavy skies
Crushed under heavy skies
Atlas, Rise!
Masquerade as maker
Heavy is the crown
Beaten down and broken
Drama wears you down
Overload, the martyr stumbles
Hit the ground and heaven crumbles
All alone, the fear shall humble
Swallow all your pride
All you bear
All you carry
All you bear
Place it right on, right on me
Die as you suffer in vain
Own all the grief and the pain
Die as you hold up the skies
Atlas, Rise!
How does it feel on your own?
Bound by the world all alone
Crushed under heavy skies
Crushed under heavy skies
Atlas, Rise!
When you learn something about Greek mythology from a heavy metal song
Ya most of them
Iron maiden?
Parkway drive
Sabaton and Nile have great historical songs.
When You know that Tijuana is heavy shit
Take this instead of the morning coffee! It gives you enough force to tackle the day ahead.
I listened to this song while drinking coffee. I have been holding up the skies for 6 years now.
I just turned 60 and Metallica is by far one of the best kick ass metal bands ever.
I LOVE THAT MAN,,, LOL ,,, UM 49 AND COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE MA MAN,, THIS SOUND IS WHAT MUSIC IS AND WHY THIS KIND OF SHIT WILL ALWAYS SHOW THE ASS CLOWNS OF THE MUSIC BIZZ THAT METALLICA IS AND HAS BEEN ONE OF THE BEST BANDS IN MUSIC TO DATE AND THIS SOUND IS A DIRECT REASON WHY METAL IS HERE TO STAY.................. \m/\m/.........................OUT...........................
I'm 29 and fully agree!
fritz keller I'm 12 and I feel the same!
i am 1 and same here XD
fritz keller Im -5 years old and love Metallica
Metallica is back, motherfuckers! This album will be an instant classic, mark my words.
Consider them marked, but... "instant classic" is an oxymoron, also, still waiting
Sounds like "Through the never" meets Iron Maiden....
man I have had this on repeat but still get chills on the chorus, so epic
Kurturmis .. .I feel the same damn way....
Kurturmis chorus eclectically running through the vains
Same here!
veins is the correct word
ATLAS RISE!
The lyrics make so much sense if you know greek mythology.
...and if you know Hetfileld's background... awesome writing... Dude's got some some demons... Glad he can put it down with ink instead of taking the easy way out... These 3 new songs are awesome... can't wait...
really?
Irene Nana Yeah. Greek mythology explains this whole song basically. Gives context to the writer.
+Shady Charlotte omg I'm Greek but I can't understand 😂
Irene Nana Hop into your own culture then lol. Atlas was a Titan who was punished for helping his siblings in a war. His punishment was either to hold up the entire world or the sky (defending on which legends you go by. Sky is more common in the legends but earth is more common in pop culture) and only had 1 day of freedom ever. Basically Hetfield is saying that people put the weight of the world on his and he's forced to accept it because nowadays that's all you can do. Carry the weight of everyone else around you. Through death, politics, crime, etc those chosen to bear the burdens are basically forced to.
Awesome, this will still be listened to for decades, an instant classic that will last the test of time, the riff at 3:12 is so heavy and punchy, 🤘🤘
my favorite track off the new album..so bad ass
spit out the bone is the real BAD ASS
These are my 3 favorite 1. manUNkind 2. Spit Out The Bone 3. Atlsa, Rise!
Me too 😊
Where's the house that jack built?
Bruce Dickinson is sounding very rough, these days...ahem...
Sounds like a Maiden song ;)
It's a great track however!
simiangimp lol
Now that we're dead is like maiden too hahahaha
Maiden with Megadeth. Haha thought I was the only one.
simiangimp the solo sounds like Maiden on steroids lol
They're back.
Yeah !
Never went anywhere.
Hellas Perr. Geo Please allow me to elaborate.
I've been listening to Metallica, and metal in general, for the last 30 years. Growing up in the 1980's, I wore out the grooves in my Ride the Lightning album, I went to their concerts, and had a dozen different Metallica t-shirts. After each amazing album was released, we all waited until their next record was released. There was no internet, no leaked tracks, no comments from people saying they've liked them forever, and have never wavered in their support. PLEASE! There was a time when metal was shunned and blazing guitar solos were replaced with one note bends, and bands made a conscious choice to either adapt and survive or defy and die.
Metallica made some records during that time, and although they have their own merit; they were not up to the benchmark they created in their first five albums. Death Magnetic was the album where they started what I would call a triumphant return. Hearing the three new tracks from this album, I said then and stand by it now when I say, "they're back". \m/
J Swazz dude i made that same comment and then read this one...im sooooo on board with ya man.... after hearing this one im sooo convinced that this is the return and maybe the opus end of the greatest band of all time man... theyre making music from their gut again (which i believe theyve always done)... but this time AS METALLICA... not as an experimental band or as THE BIGGEST BAND... but fuckin MetallicA... im there man i love the tone i love the vocals, solos, lyrics..... everything....theyre back man im happy
they never left
Wish ‘em to the undertaker!
Lars Ulrich vs the undertaker at wrestlemania 33!
Bookit vince!!
Packno1 #bestforbusiness
I kinda hope WWE uses this for those Undertaker promos! LOVE the song though! It has that Master of Puppets feel with little harmonic elements like Iron Maiden.
Packno1 Trujillo would have a better shot
kushman250 he looks like Roman reigns of course he has a shot
my step dad told me to check this out.
...only when it comes to his taste in music.
My stepdad would've bitched me out for playing this. I would've anyway.
Thank him
Metallica is trying too hard to be Metallica. They should just stop trying to be Metallica and be Metallica.
only die hard fans can't notice that, this song clearly sounds like BLACKENED and it has parts of the album and justice for all...nice try Metallica
EETFUK
Hard-wired was nice, Moth was nice. But this ... fantastic! Old school Met without being a ripoff of themselves. Great!
Ralf Raths This, Hardwired, Moth Into Flame and Now That We're Dead are really great songs from this album
And Spit out the bone and Halo on fire sound similar to the first four albums
Personally Moth is one of my favorite songs on the album, but this is a close second
Hallowed Be Thy Name!
Alright bro.
Running looOOOoooooooooOOooOoooow
Trent Jayhawker i was thinking it had a iron maiden vibe too
Trent Jayhawker Tell me why did I have to be the Powerslave?!
This sounds nothing like either powerslave or hallowed.
They are talkin about one of the ancient ones, the Nephilim.... ATLAS!
Ronnie Piña Atlas son of Poseidon first king of Atlantis Neleus Atlas ???
@@everardocastaneda8908 nah, more like the titan with the same name
@@merydoesstuff the "titan" is truly the stepson of Atlas.
His ownership and office was revoked when he betrayed his own mother
This album is gonna be kick ass!!
It was ;).
All you Bear, All you carry.
Correctly metallica.com/songs/44129/atlas-rise
This song is just plain awesome. It is a personal opinion, but listening to this song brings this amazing kind of experience as if the Iron Maiden hoppped by for two or three riffs and Metallica would constantly pop in to take over. If you guys know the Maiden albmums, perhaps you'll hear it, too. Thought I would share. Love this song.
I thought of Iron Maiden before I read any comments
Then I'm not alone with this. Thanks.
@@reallyextra 6 years late but I definitely hear it
4.20 to 4.40 is just AMAZING!!
I agree with you brother
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YES MA MAN CAN STILL KILL THAT AXE...........\m/\m/.....................OUT....
Don't you mean 0:00 to 6:34?
\m/
Fits the song so well and is just such a good solo! I get goosebumps almost every time I hear it!
*I try make it as fast as possible I can. sorry :(*
Play the song at 1.25, it's awesome as hell.
You have nothing to apologize for dude! You did an awesome job! :)
You're right! It sounds awesome at 1.25*.
i dont accept your apology
:C
A killer song that essentially states that it's easy to get a God complex and hard to own it.
Unless your actually God..
Or his Chosen .
Then it just comes naturally.
3rd cool song...they're finally back\m/
Has the class for best album since Mop
Marius Moorkamp Except for the fact that Justice was their best album
I'd pick Master or Ride. Justice is juuuuust a tad of a nose hair behind those two.
Tronathon242 Dude, James guitar tone on justice was crushing and hyper percussive. The riffs were the catchiest (while still maintaining complexity and heaviness) and James's singing was immaculate. Kirk's solos reached a new level of awesome, incorporating more than just E pentatonic minor triplet licks over and over again. And Lars's drumming on this album was far better than that of any of their other albums. It's the most progressive album they've put out, and it's the heaviest. It's only problem in my opinion was shitty production. But the production was shitty on all their albums prior except for Puppets.
Michael Rhett Aho I agree with the points about Lars's drumming and the solos. But, to me, the songs on Ride and Master (with the exception of Escape and the opening to Damage Inc.) were tighter in my mind. Like I said, it's a race so microscopically close, but what makes those two albums better was the bass. That dynamic, mind blowing Cliff Burton bass. That's the ONLY thing that holds Justice back from the previous two.
Tronathon242 I can see that. Cliff was a master of his craft, and his death was a tragedy. But me being a riffer, guitars are the most important thing for me. But really, all of Metallica's first four albums were gold. And the Black album was a solid metal record, too, if not as excellent as their prior four releases.
Everyone's out there bashing each other over the election and I'm just sitting here jamming out to Metallica!
Hey 3 years later I feel ya
@@brandonlee7355
I feel ya after this election.
Still kicking a$$ after all these years.
This doesn't sound like Iron Maiden, as some here have claimed. It however does sound like Metallica. It also sounds like their going back to their roots of their style of metal. When heavy meant music was not about sale out arenas, but musicians getting down to business and their goal was to not please the record industry.
People really need to stop saying that "Metallica is back". They never went anywhere, aside from the fact that eight years is WAY too long to take to put out a new album.
Death Magnetic was already a "return to their thrash roots", and in all honesty, it was a great album, in some ways better than Hardwired (except for the stupid final mix, which wasn't their fault). St. Anger was a misstep, but even with it's awful sound, it still has some decent songs. Outside of that? Personally, I loved 90s Metallica, and wouldn't want Black and the Loads to NOT exist. That more mellow, more classic rock inspired stuff really rounds out their overall catalog. I love 80s Thrash Metallica, Justice being my favorite album of all time. But their 90s work was really incredible in its own way too. And outside of St. Anger, their albums have always, always been on point.
I'm just loving their new music, my five favorites off the album are:
5. Halo On Fire
4. Moth Into Flame
3. Spit Out The Bone
2. Hardwired
1. THIS FREAKIN' SONG! It's so badass.
Iron Maiden are good but Metallica are FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
excellent excellent metallica.super song.
James have to stop shouting and start singing. riffs are boring and basic. yes there was some good moments, but certainly creativity wise they are still far away from what they were with Jason Newsted.
I read Percy Jackson so I know what the lyrics is mean
me too!
Ah yes, a fellow Greek expert
I see, you are a man of culture as well
Great lyrics! lmL
Just finished God of War: Chains of Olympus.
Atlas: l put down the apples.
HERCULES:
Saw this live in philly 5/12/2017 .... awesome... best band alive!!!!!!!!
James Taylor Me too!
favorite one so far
Just to repeat myself again, but this is pretty much 'And Justice for All....' In a remastered form.
And of course, this is a good thing.😃
Thank you for the lyrics :)
this song is awesome!!! i love it >.
Sounds like maiden
Sounds like heavy metal.
Bruce Artur sounds like New Metallica. I don't like Maiden.. don't know 95% of they're music.. so to me it sounds Fresh and Metal.
sounds like inspired by maiden & merciful fate w metallica touch to it
Bruce Artur Just like their "Kill 'Em All" album did
Bruce Artur lmao it does and the topic sounds like Iron Maiden too
My new happy songs
My favourite of the 3 they have released.
I agree

yeeeeehaaa
Thanks man!
Can't wait for this to be released. Each new song has a different sound, and I love that. In particular, love Hardwired. Just heavy!!
I love Metallica so much! I'm only a 17 year old, but I don't care. That's just who I am👌😎🤘🏼
*You should be proud of yourself by listening this kind of hard to understand music \m/*
metallica is back!!!!!!
can't wait for the full album the real metallica are back rockin \m/
I like it! Sounds like the old school Metallica I listened to back in the day.
I think it sounds really great and it will be the best Metallica since Load. (Yeah, that one is a strong record imo)
My only gripe is Ulrichs style, though he sounds better than in recent years, his constant overuse of the snare and underuse of toms, the lack of serious fills is getting tiresome. What could a drummer like Hoglan or McClain do with that stuff?
Still: Harmonies, chorus, Hetfield sound really strong. Very positively surprised by what this album is shaping up to be.
Song gets an 8.5/10
Ulrich is hands down the worst thing about what is otherwise a very decent tune.
Armin Brandl I love load and reload. Both albums have a couple of meh songs....but the good songs are great!
Armin Brandl >Snare complaint
I thought this song was from Hardwired...To Self-Destruct, not St. Anger.
Roland Castillo Indeed it is, so I don't know why you’re bringing up St Anger. Armin isn’t remarking on tone, but rather overuse.
St. Anger got critisized for the sound of the snare.
Here the playing gets critique. Fills can be something else than hitting the snare 78 times in a row. Other drummers might hit a tom or two every once in a while.
So very Metal !! Goosebumps ! :D
Agree on all counts. Sh*t, Is this ride the lightning or Justice? I'm on constant repeat too. In heaven. I just keep thinking I can't wait to hear this live. Epic as f**k.
Acts 4.12
Question the heavy skies,oh nooo crushed under heavy skies.OEPS
My first concert was last night and it was Metallica!! In Kentucky Tennessee!! I had to drive 5 hours to get there and it was worth it!!! I Love this band!
Metallica FOREVER
In Kentucky Tennessee?
Wtf?
Kentucky or Tennessee?
Jack Mitchell, Ilona, Gideon, and 39 other members of Sentinel Task Force hit the dislike button.
Is it just me or is Bruce Dickinson sounding a bit weird these days?
this sounds like it should be on kill em all
so far im gonna love this new album
Metallica still sounds good, thank god...
Marlon Bengson they always will brother
play this song at 1.25 speed. Is much much better
beautiful song
man this is killer. i'm 17 and have listened to them all my life and this keeps my faith in Metalica! keep on rocking boys!
This isnt about throwing a book in the air?
Yeah yeah yeah hallowe be thy n.... oh shit wrong band...
Like if you've read Atlas Shrugged.
Awesome song!
Powerfull lyrics, really liking this now that I know the lyrics!!Lars drumming is really good...bass sounding good, hope they come to st.louis soon!
Keeping with the spirit of the Ronnie Rising medley... and Remember Tomorrow. That's exactly the kind of stuff they should be playing. Classic Rock/Metal with that American Made MetallicA muscle behind it.
hey man whats the name of the font u use?
sry for bad english
*Font name: Hacked.*

Oh my! Sounds like Maiden :D
Just another killer kick ass new Metallica song!!
I love the growl in his voice on the first "atlas riiiiiise!" 👌🏼
I am headbanging so hard my head hurts.
I've heard this on the radio a few times. Feels good hearing new Metallica tunes on the radio again. :)

for sure, reminds me of there older music like from "and justice for all" around that time of music they were making. Metallica has definitely been one of my favorites growing up when and seen them at the Orion a fest. they put on a great show glad to see they are still kicking hard
This is my favorite of the 3. James sounds great and the lyrics are killer, it's riffy and very metal. Metallica never disappoints me!

This was the first Metallica album I had bought in years, I was an old school fan from years back but figured their tank was running on empty by now... But then this album dropped. Not all of it is 80's era good, but when it's good, it's really good. This, Here Comes Revenge, Confusion and Spit Out The Bone are the best tracks imo.
Metallica Tendencies :-)
Definitely one of the best songs on the album in my opinion, followed up by moth into flame.
I like Judas Priest :)
This is the Metallica that people have been waiting to return not what that abomination called Saint Anger was....
This is Metallica
I'm trying to get into this album as much as other people but this whole album is just MEH to me, I honestly think Death Magnetic was much better.
TheFutureKing This album isn't MEH. It's pretty good. But you're right. Death Magnetic is epic. Better than Hardwired. I feel like they go together as s double album. Death Magnetic is for the 80s fans. Hardwired seems to be aimed toward Black album|Load fanbase.
XRTVicious: I honestly consider The Black Album with their first four albums rather than Load and ReLoad. While it was the bridge from their thrash sound to their hard rock sound, I consider the Black Album metal.
Old school Metallica comes back to life in this song, especially at the 4:22 mark. Cliff Burton would be proud of this song.
Okay, I am the master past you I love ye I do say I did pay your way Kim K can now say RICHARD RIGHT WRONG I SHALL BE STRONG ITS BEEN SO LONG I WAS NEVER IN THE WRONG I AM THE MAN GOD LETS GO I AM CREATOR GOD'S HUMAN BOD HOT LIGHTENING ROD I KNOW MY FUCKING JOB FOR I AM THE GREATEST LATEST STRAIGHTEST PLANNED RIGHT HAND I ALREADY HAVE A PERFECT METAL BAND I CAN WITHSTAND KISSEDaster rapper
