Ah, I'm back! Which means on the one hand, that I'm scared and lonely and in need of a place to hide... and on the other: thank you so very much Mr. Wagland, for providing such a space! I'll curl up here, and heal.
As a lifetime lover of audiobooks, as well as the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, you are the best in the business! Like many, I mourned the passing of the late great Jeremy Brett, who was the quintessential Holmes in the Grenada TV series of the 1980s and 90s, and I never thought I would really enjoy any other rendition. Well!😊You have surpassed all expectations, and provided endless hours of listening pleasure. Thank you! Keep up the excellent work, and God bless you, Greg Wagland, for sharing your gift with the world!❤
J.B was definitely the most authentic Holmes I've seen on screen. Can't remember the name of the actor playing Watson but same for him. So many bumbling Watsons through the years. These guys rule supreme and of course Gregg Waglland when it comes to audio he's not too shabby either. 😉
I am a brain, Watson! The rest of me is a mere appendix. ~ Sherlock Holmes His tragedy as well as his glory, as his loneliness is as necessary as it is painful. Thanks so much for these wonderful, many-voiced readings, GREG :-)
Mr. Wagland, you’re like a life long friend who comes to visit! Always a pleasant and look forward to surprise. Being mostly home bound, this is a blessing. Thank you so much! As always, I enjoyed this very much😊
Thank you Greg Wagland for all these Sherlock Holmes stories. I listen to them over and over to help me go to sleep. Your voice is soothing with depth. Thank you. Xxxx
I love the different accents Greg puts on for each character ❤️Makes the stories so much more interesting and amusing to listen 😊I am slowly making through each story on this entire playlist and don’t want it to end!
Heard this for the first time today while on my commute. Thanks Greg for making it sweeter, if not shorter. 🙂 Also appreciated the note about the stage play origins, it made perfect sense.
*I can hardly wait for the rest of these to be added to the play list... I am so grateful for having been able to listen to Mr Wagland's renditions of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories about the Master of Logic and Deduction* ..gw
By this time I am well familiar with Holmes like he is my own brother of mischief. Its makes me laugh so hard whenever he made a comeback to those who chapped him.😊😊😊 I think listening from him taught me how to counter insolently yet with gracious deliveration so that the sting will be felt deeper, the reciever will be dumbfounded😂😂😂😂 Well of course, its all because Mr. Greg narrates them better than how myself would read it. Each charaters comes to life, that the whole scene could be pictured out even if one hasn't got a good imagination. thanks for this Mr. Greg, another well narrated story.😊
Very abnormal it wasn't told by Dr. Watson, Mr. Wagland 😟. But delivered just the same with brilliancy....and I'm becoming such a huge fan of yours! And thank you for introducing me to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's writings. I'd say, I never liked crime and mystery books but you had hooked me into listening to at least 90% of what you've recorded on Holmes and his dear Dr. Watson. My, I deduced you will need to record more of his books to me while I lay my head down to sleep. Cheers!🍸

Thanks for the early Christmas present Greg👍 What's your favourite short Holmes story narrated by Greg folks? Mine has to be The Priory School...... The voices matched every character perfectly .
Well done again Mr W!! I quite enjoyed your narration, as I always have, whilst sipping the pleasures of a delightful English blend in one of my briars.
Yay for new stories! Please keep posting for forever! I've listened to all of them over and over.. Always enjoy a new one! Love the different voices too! Thanks Mr. Wagland!!! :)
I've waited so long to listen to your work on the Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes. The last time I asked in 2018, you mentioned case-book was not in the public domain as it is with the other books. I am pleased to see my favourite stories on your channel just waiting for me... :)

We must wait until 1 January 2022 for "The Adventure of the Three Gables", "The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier", "The Adventure of the Lion's Mane" and "The Adventure of the Retired Colourman"; 1 January 2023 for "The Adventure of the Veiled Lodger" and "The Adventure of Shoscombe Old Place".
This reminds me of the other story. Except I don't recall Doyle writing Watson from the third person. I also don't recall poor Billy getting a bite to eat. 😝
Mr Wagland - I would quite like being able to pay you for all your excellent efforts and somehow purchase a “box set” of Sherlock Holmes or at least a digital box set
a disappointing story - it depended less on cleverness than on an unlikely trick - loved the confrontation between Holmes and the 2 men with the narrator skillfully rendering the 3 different voices and accents - it seemed like there were 3 actors involved
Yes, The Casebook has more of these "less clever" stories, but I love it for its adventurousness with different subject matters and general quirkiness, adding much to the character of Holmes. In most of the other Casebook stories Conan Doyle experimented with different types of romance, it seems. This particular story stands out in its lightness and humour. I had forgotten about it for a long while. Enjoyed it a lot!
1rst floor? Umm in all the sherlock holmes shows ive seen he lived in an upper floor. And in one story he and watson have a conversation about the stairs.
In the UK, isn't the first floor an upper floor. The ground floor is at ground level and the first floor is up one flight of steps from there. I think other countries label the floors differently.
@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio I'd love to hear you read these last few Sherlock Holmes stories. I've long been a fan of Holmes and your narrations of them are excellent! These days, it would probably be just a formality and cost very little, if anything to do so. Thank you!

Awesome how we never grow out of the love of being read to.
True
It certainly is 🎉
Doyle is a wordsmith and Waglund is an artist. This is one of my favorites
I'm not a native speaker of English so a good diction is essential to me. In your readings I don't miss a word, a sound. I'm very grateful for this,
Thanks for sharing!
This story requires a talented reader: it's all dialogue and you perform it as a gifted actor. Thank you so much.

Nice to hear the original story. The Jeremy Brett interpretation was so altered as to be a new tale.
Some of the dramatisation was awful.
Absolutely butcher The Priory School episode.
Had to be somewhat, unfortunately towards the end of the Brett stories they had to work around and with his deteriorating health.
Jeremy Brett - genius.

"you won't die in your bed Holmes!" "I have often had the same idea" (answered Holmes )🤣
