Next Generation Target System for CQB

  • Putting rounds on target is easy. Putting rounds on only the CORRECT target is hard, especially in real world situations. Identifying threats based on visual criteria is an important skill that every armed citizen needs, whether they’re civilian, military, or law enforcement.
    This is why we developed the new Chameleon Variable Threat System. Never see the same target twice.

    The fact that those cops "weren't a fan" of those targets speaks volumes; if you aren't interested in getting better, if you don't like being challenged to be a better shooter when you are, of your own volition, putting yourself in situations where you can be reasonably expected to make correct judgement calls, you have no place wearing a badge and carrying a gun and collecting a salary payed for by people's tax dollars, but I digress. Great system, I absolutely love this. I'm not sure what I was expecting to see T.Rex Arms came up with, but I'm happy that this was what it was.

    • @chad1755

      @Sigkim That's not necessarily a bad thing though. LEO is not military. Firearms for LEO are a last-resort tool, not their primary tool. Would you expect a pilot to be as proficient in parachuting than a professional parachutist? Of course not. His primary skill-set is flying airplanes. LEO have SEVERAL skill-sets that are FAR more important than running and gunning: driving, law knowledge, de-escalation social skills, and only as a last resort grappling and marksmanship.
      There's only so much time to dedicate to training of any sort, and dollars in a budget. So as far as I'm concerned, if all our LEOs are "operator level" marksmans, than they've failed beause they focused on the wrong thing.
      Military & HRT type roles are a different story of course.

      The fact that the officers were there training shows that they were interested in improving their skills. Cop speak for not being a fan of the target is that it requires you to slow down just a second and that it causes you to slow and push your skills. Clearing a house as an officer is different then as a soldier and I admit, as a cop, that target sucked but not in the context that you're thinking. I could imagine seeing that thing, at night, adrenaline pumping on a warrant service and you're thinking "is that a gun, is it not a gun?" "Do I shoot, do I not shoot?" "Potential hostage next to him, do I not shoot and does the hostage get shot?" Unless you're wearing a badge and have been put in those situations before, don't just make the blanket statement that you're collecting a salary paid by tax dollars

      @@c.r.chandler5905 "unless you wear a badge and have been put in that situation, don't just make a blanket statement" , uh, buddy, nobody put you or any other cop in that line of work but you. "If you haven't been there, you don't know, so Stfu filthy peasant" is also a dangerous line of reasoning because youre attempting to invalidate any criticism levied upon you by putting yourself up on a pedestal. If Lucas had any criticism to give, would you take it? Based on what you have to say, I'd bet not, since he's a self taught, non cop, non soldier citizen. Nothing wrong with defending your side, but way to be that cop, bro

    • @valiant545
      @valiant545 4 года назад +6

      Thorin Harig I agree whole heartedly, but I think he meant they were “not a fan” of the threat, not the target system, as in they expressed how hard the target was to properly identify.

    • @thorinharig5042
      @thorinharig5042 4 года назад +9

      @@valiant545 Which is exactly the point, it's challenging, it's training, you're not just memorizing what targets look like and having the target shove the gun in your face and say "shoot me, I'm a shoot target". It's purposefully hard to ID, it's pushing you to observe, think, and react quicker and harder. Those cops either missed the point of the targets or are those guys that go to a training event and then decide they want to bitch instead. Pardon me if I sound cold, but if you are going to put yourself in that line of work, you deserve every bit of criticism you get for anything you do or say, and you get no breaks because you willfully put yourself there.

      Royal Leprechaun Royal Leprechaun Bitter??? Not at all! I simply come from a time, were one wouldn't have let an impostor go through with something like that. It is much more bitter, if you make your Internet fanboy community believe, that special forces units would actually go out and hire virgin pew pew guys in order to ""teach them"" ""how to shoot"". That believe is utterly ridiculous and nobody in EITHER the military or the LE community would EVER take him serious on that. In fact pretty much ANYBODY in either the military or the LE community would be annoyed by such an impostor who has the need to pretend to be something, that he is not. There are veterans that have already complained about him on the basis of that. The people that take him serious on those bold claims (apparently a lot) also do not not seem to have even a single clue on how either the military or SWAT units in LE works, nor did they ever get anywhere even in the proximity of those institutions (this tells me a lot about the community that is watching him). Also the things that he claims in the video like, that "the target is always in the same corner and operators get bad reputation from that" and that he is the first to address that ""problem"" also tells me that he has arguably never been anywhere near a government-owned shoothouse for a single time in his entire life (let alone that they would let him into such a military base). As for posting comments I can obviously do it as often as I want to until I get tired of it. But I have already seen, that the wanna-be community, does not enjoy receiving them, because one is interfering with their dreamworld wanna-be wishthinking-bubble. I will leave you alone in that illusionist-bubble, of how you believe that the real world would work.

      Royal Leprechaun Also he is acting as if his online-company "T-REX Arms" (what Tyrannosaurus Rex or what??) is some sort of government contractor or of that kind. It is not. ""T-REX Arms"" would no be even taken serious or taken into consideration by the federal government of the United States. If he ever was to actually get in a situation where he would get to teach a Tier 1 or Tier 2 special mission unit or SOF unit (that is NEVER EVER going to happen, you can bet your sweet grandmas ass on that) he would propably want to have hundreds of pictures of that, so that he could brag about it, in front of his RUclips community, afterwards.

      @@irgendwas4347 Christ dude you really have just proven my point about bitterness but I'll play along. With your knowledge nobody can ever learn to do something unless they're a professional, guess I can't hang a picture frame since I'm not an interior decorator and I can't even put a nail in since I'm not a carpenter. People learn to do things from other people and as long as they stay dedicated and practiced they can even become more proficient then the professionals. Not once did he claim to be an LEO or military and he doesn't have to be, they aren't some untouchable beings who know everything about shooting, they're normal people who learn and train the same way anyone does, which is why he can go and create a target for them. Once again I don't see why you're saying he act's like a part of a federal company either because he doesn't but that doesn't mean value stuff does not come from T.REX arms, I hate to break it to but things like sirens weren't originally designed by a LEO to go on top of a police car but look how far they've come.

    Next “problem” I see is operators inadvertently searching for pieces of WHITE paper, THEN analysing the target.
    I’m just knit picking, but matching the colour to the wall it’s put on, or maybe even cut them out. But then it’s harder to see ‘misses’ ..
    Great step up though. Again I’m just being anal, heh...

    I’m guess they never been on an ISMT range, this isn’t really that new of innovation. In Marine Corp they would have us clear virtual compounds in ISMT and the operator in the back of the room would change scenario every time we got into an engagement.

      True, but a lot of things T-red arms makes isn't innovative (like the light mount they released a while back), but as a company you want to hype your product so people buy your stuff rather than a competitor.

    I am a huge fan of what you guys do. I do like the holsters, but prefer other's designs more, but everything else is top notch. The gear, shooting, philosophy, pro-2A work. I really do not get the controversy around Lucas. The guy can shoot, doesn't matter if he's been Mil/LEO or not. Some say vids are edited and cut, yet he's done uncut vids. And if there's a hidden cut in those? Well damn good editing then cause I never saw it.
    TL:DR keep up the amazing work. Also maybe a flexible mad caddy holster design done "properly"?

    OUTSTANDING work gentlemen! We constantly trained using the same targets over and over. After a few training sessions, it was all muscle memory. What you've done here will hopefully catch on all across military and law enforcement agencies.

  • @robertsmall1657
    @robertsmall1657 4 года назад +1

    Psychologically this makes perfect sense. I would imagine training and looking at such a diverse variety of targets would truly help you to subconsciously determine friend from foe a little bit more quickly and potentially be a big difference maker in real life. Imagine training with the same targets every day. Your subconscious brain probably gets used to that. Someone commented that law enforcement isn’t interested in this. That’s a real shame IMO.
    Not to mention the hit zone thing. Very very cool. I imagine 1 shot to a hit zone is as effective as like 3 or 4 to a non hit zone. The angle of the shooter impacts this in a way I never even thought about.

    Something so simple in concept yet so effective. Love it. Also love that you put emphisis on the fact that just because a guy on scene has a gun doesnt make them a threat. Could be a concealed carrier, could be a boogaloo specialist that took an AK from one of the baddies. Who knows.

    Is it just me or are those HuamnIK rigs? @T.REX ARMS It's a brilliant use of the package. Adobe has an animation package called Mixamo where you could load pre-built animations into a HumanIK rig and can clean up the desired pose from the animation. You can also use Autodesk Character Generator to quickly build new characters. That might help speed up workflow for new targets if you are currently posing/modeling them manually.

    Texas Instruments makes a cheap projector. DLP 2000. Small as a tin of Altoids mints. Bright and decent resolution. Get them from Digikey. Since you are in development mode, might as well add hardware. These are PCB components and easy to set up. You could use white paper targets and dynamically project the target onto the paper instead of printing them. Pay for the projectors in the cost of ink alone. Wifi will let you change the images remotely. And - if you want to get crazy, animate the action of the avatar using sensor data upon entry. They run on a cheap little single board computer that can play video as well. This is all very easy to do and there are tons of maker examples on YT.
