Good video! I think that was a pretty accurate description based on the ISFJs I know. There are a lot of bad stereotypes out there that prevent a lot of ISFJs from identifying with their type and you did a pretty good job staying away from them. I do have a couple of nitpicky things to say though. First, not every ISFJ is going to have a great relationship with Fe. As an INFJ I've relied more on Ti than Fe up to this point in my life and I think that's true for some ISFJs too, particularly males who are encouraged by culture to be more logical. It is true that every ISFJ is going to value social harmony and probably have a good understanding of interpersonal dynamics, but they might not naturally feel comfortable acting to make that harmony happen unless they work to develop those skills. Also, while positivity is generally a good thing, I think it's important to emphasize that being a certain type does not automatically make you a wonderful person. A person of any type can be a great person if they're healthy and have a growth mindset but they can also be unhealthy and behave badly.
I guess one stereotypical difference is that the ISTJ is the more masculine version of the ISFJ (and vice-versa), not that in dead-set on Victorian middle twentieth-century gender stereotypes (true antiquity hardly knew any gender, so yh). As an ESTJ I deeply admire healthy ISFJs. They're an oasis in the desert, a port in a storm, etc. Some might say 8% or whatever of the population isn't enough.
I am an ISFP and my mom’s an ISFJ and I’ll always appreciate her unconditional kindness and genuine caring about other ppl. Like empathy doesn’t come naturally to me like i try but i care way less than i pretend i do. The only thing i don’t like is that she goes back and forth for ppl who wouldn’t do for her half of what she does and to ppl who’ve wronged her multiple times. Like my father does nothin around the house and is pretty critical and verbally abusive and she stays with him for over 20 years and i always think:”if i were to be married with someone like him. I would’ve cheated on him a long time ago.” She’s always like “she won’t argue cuz she want to keep peace.” I don’t like conflict either like i hate it since i don’t genuinely have the social skills to deal with them but i have no problem removing myself from toxic ppl without sayin anything. Like simply stop calling them stop inviting them or simply replacing them with other ppl. Like to me my love and support to someone are conditional like i need it back. It’s not just me who does everything. Like if i avoid conflict at times is for my own peace of mind and i just know I’ll do it my way with or without permission or approval to do it so conflict is pointless. My mom avoids it for everyone.
I also appreciate that she has way more social skills than i do. Like we both pretty friendly and nice but she’s always been more socially aware than i am like she always tells me she actually had quite a lot of friends in high school and middle school while i’m pretty much of a loner like i do hang out with ppl and stuff but i actually only have like 2 genuine friends simply bcuz while i hang out and stuff i ain’t gonna compromise too much who i am and my core personality. Thank you for this spot on description. I’ve typed as ISFJ but wasn’t sure I was living up to the nurturing nurse type that’s so often given to this personality. I can be “selfish” with my space and need a lot of quiet time. But when I’m refreshed and energetic the Fe really comes alive in me. You’ve helped clear up my doubts and nailed each function so well!
Thanks for your thoughts- I'm finding recently I've been enjoying, even craving, deeper conversation with more philosophical ideas. One of my closer friends is an INFJ and she by far has been one of my favorite people to discuss things with. This being said, I was confused if I am an ISFJ, but from what you shared we do have a propensity, although perhaps not as strong, for extroverted intuition..
A girl I work with is also ISFJ and when we talk we often get into the big picture and more philosophical conversations. She still loves talking about her family and things she cares about, but we enjoy that as well. I think that it would be hard to tell between ISFJ and INFJ a lot because behaviorally you would be really similar for the most part. I hope that you, if you are, can be proud of being an ISFJ because that type is wonderful, even if INFJ is the more idealized IxFJ!
I enjoyed the video! Thanks for taking the time to make it. I've been currently diagnosed with type 6 ISFJ and I just have to say it was refreshing seeing a video that didn't just say "They are nice" there's a lot more thoughts going on in me that I just choose not to share, mostly because I don't fully trust the other yet or because I feel my thoughts are irrelevant to the topic or would not be fully appreciated so I choose not to share. Some times it can seem annoying having that stereotype because I find I am not as nice as they claim I am to be. I didn't have any objections to what was said, it was pretty accurate personally and showed me you took the time to understand the type which alone is very heartwarming because many youtubers seem to just brush over it or use the same generic descriptions found everywhere or just say "its your mom or dad or aunt" as an example. Which personally just tells me they aren't as focused or didn't spend much time looking into, maybe it's because ISFJ is a niche area with a lower amount of people interested in the type and not as good for views and what not, idk the reason but i see a lot of other groups talked about more. There are actually some other XSXX types that actually aren't as noticed in the mbti community i find too. It's unfortunate because there are some types I admire too like XSTP or XSFP. If anyone in the comments wants to chat or something I am open to hearing others perspective on things. I just realized today youtube removed the pm thingy. Which makes me realize just how much I am living under a rock lol. I never used it but felt it was a nice feature incase you got along well with someone in comments. I just like having things for what if scenarios just in case. Anyway, here is my handle if you are interested in chatting about interesting topics. A disclaimer: I usually type quite a bit sometimes, so if you get annoyed by that then you probably will be annoyed with me 🤣 😜 i also use emojis often. I find it helps get my thoughts across better by giving context and tone to my words. My discord name is impossible to type with a keyboard lol : Shͥαwͣnͫ⇝#9677 Edit: Apparently you can't copy text in youtube so i went ahead and changed my discord to: Shawn819#9677 Idk if I'll keep it like that, i really liked the random abstract "i am" thing with it 🤔
Thank you! As an ISFJ, i feel like im able to be philosophical and do have an opinion often during those converstations. I wont often start the conversation, maybe lately a bit more since i hang around ENFP/INFP's a lot. But i love to discuss with them! And i do think it helps because i understand many different opinions, taken from probably my Fe function?
No, your type is not able to be "philosophical," as dealing with concepts and ideas (Ne) and meaning (Ni) are your weakest traits. Do not ever fool yourself into thinking you are intelligent. The smartest thing you can do is hang around intelligent people, be humble, admit you do not understand most things, and listen to them. Your real strengths are hard work, dedication, and sacrifice. That is hard to replicate, so be very proud of that.
Thank you so much for both being very easy and soothing to follow and more in depth than the other channels, you definitions on each of the functions shed newlight on my perspective, keep on rockin sister 💪😎
I can understand that ISFJ does not have good memory but constantly compares everything new with everything that happened. It always seemed strange because I usually have bad memory, even in things I like but there are certain topics that I can remember somehow.
Exactly, I agree with you, our type has nothing to do with good or bad memory, the thing is we can recall certain memories others couldn't recall them easily...that's it
It's more like: they have a good memory, but their impressions are subjective. So even though they remember something, it doesn't mean that they are able to tell it to others. Or that they remember something that is useful for others. Like "there was a smell that remind me of my childhood family trip" - that sentence carries no objective information. Basically, every introverted function creates their own language with which they encode their memories. The process of communication with others is to assign objective meaning to subjective memories. Like changing that first description of memory to "there was a smell of lavender" - which is now useful information, because "lavender" is smell that other people also understand
to be honest from my childhood to end of high school i had perfect memory. i could say page on book when something happen. but then i become law student started to be Anxiety and my memory are not so good as before. still remember faces, never names, people, and stuff. but i am start to forget some events. even talks.
Fellow law student, I relate a LOT! I’ve forgotten even the simplest things of everyday life and I’m not kidding. Law requires a lot of studying on things that were not previously familiar. As a result, it feels like my mind deleted all the information it already had stored to have space for the new. I sometimes feel smart as a law student but dumb af as a human lol.
I have a very good memory and I am a ISFJ AND I AM PROUD HAVING A PERSONALITY TYPE. GOD HAS BLESSED ME WELL AND GOD DOESN'T MAKE MISTAKES BUT HE MAKES EVERYTHING JUST THE WAY GOD WANTS. I LOVE MY PERSONALITY
I am an ISFJ and you did very well. I kept knoding my head yes. Thank you very much for your compliment. One thing I feel is that not alot of people understand us and it would be really nice to have some INFJ's in my life.
thank you. i have just recently started to understand my personality type. And its mind boggling how im reading and listening to people saying exactly how i am. *mind blown*
aw i'm so glad you found your type!! ISFJ is an amazing type, i'm always blown away by how great you guys can be. Definitely amazing that you are feeling understood!!!!
@@PsychologyandChillwMichi just going through a breakup. So this makes me see WHY i put so much energy in the relationship that i probably should have left years ago. But i don't give up. Im a people pleaser. I always have. And will probably always be that. And i devote everything I have. And i have never really understood why. I get so fixated on her happyness. Never my own. And at the end. It's never enough as long as the other part don't do there part as well.
Why do I dwell on the negative things or always look at the worst outcome of my relationship any advice would be much appreciated and I feel like u nailed it
For years I thought I was INFJ.. turns out I'm ISTJ, and when I figured it out, I did NOT like it.. because I don't want to be a nurse! But this video made realize that ISFJ is so much more. And wow, I suddenly see clearly how much I do think about and compare past experiences with the now. Thank you so much!
I have a hard time getting the right type on the MBTI tests, it took looking at the function stack to really confirm. Thanks for the video, I appreciated your helpful explanation.
I tested Isfj but keep coming back to hopefully be more sure. I'm someone who likes to put things in a nutshell..analyze down to the basic gist of something. I think it helps my memory.. also to state these nuggets out loud , maybe because of the need to file info away for later. This 'filing cabinet brain' thing seems very ISFJ so It helped me to see myself. ( I got this from a different video. ) I think our analyzer gets under valued. It's the J. I like to share these nuggets and find that people often value them. For what its worth..I'm the youngest of 6 children. Speaking in nuggets got me heard... sometmes, but I had to learn not to use them as... bullets 🙃🙂😅 I think thats part of our dark side. P.S. I find I often wax philosophical😅 thankyou for the vid.
I believe my best friend is an ISFJ because he's always like... "Remember when...?" and then goes into hella specific details. He also doesn't seem open to learning really anything new - always relying on past experiences. He's also said he doesn't like to read. Yikes. But, he's really nice to everyone. lol
yeah -- Si-doms, like ISFJ and ISTJ can really get stuck and forget to get new information to add to their experiential library. But their ability for detail recall can be Savant level!
Makes sense they would be good librarians or historians. Examples in fiction include Captain America( Marvel Comics), Katara of the water tribe(avatar), and probably Jedi Shaak Ti(star wars). Sounds like my aunt.
There’s a Lotta good strengths with this I asked ISFJ defender putters a lot of bad that goes with it to I know you’re trying to bring out the good of us which I really appreciate which fits me to a T but when I saw the negative side from this other video I saw I was ashamed I was a disgust and come to realization that I’ve been doing it and I would love to change that part of me people like me can we change and who and how do I go about it
The spotlight videos rock. Since their dominate Si helps them build up formidable standards and their inferior Ne helps them discourage foolishness, I'd think ISFJ's would be very inspirational mentors and role models for those looking to share their beliefs with others. You've been doing an excellent job explaining the functions, so if I botched my understanding, please know that this is no reflection on your fantastic work. I could use an ISFJ to help me out! Thanks again. I hope you have a very joy-filled weekend.
What?! "Their inferior Ne helps discourage foolishness." You have it all wrong. Inferior Ne makes them accept and believe foolishness--not shun it. ISFJ's fall easily into believing conspiracy theories, con men, and religious dogma exactly because they are so unskilled in discerning the truth of ideas.
@@abesapien9930 You're saying What?! I don't even know what the heck I wrote this morning, let a lone a year ago. lol Actually, I can't even remember what I wrote just now. Not even kidding. I have to look above. All I remember is that I wrote "look above. All I remember is that I wrote because that's all I'm seeing. haha Thanks for your post. You were my favorite character in the Hellboy movies. The first two. I never saw the reboot.
@@abesapien9930 I re-read my post. I do NOT have it all wrong. Now you're my SECOND favorite Hellboy character after the kitty in the first movie, and I don't even like cats. Just kidding. Not about the cat part. I like dogs. And only big dogs. Humph. Anyways, I think there's more variables in people to be susceptible to stuff like con men. Everyone can be naïve. No matter the type. And type doesn't tell us how intelligent or how smart someone is (what we do with our intelligence determines how smart we are). Now, regarding dogma, there is good dogma since it prevents people from falling into emotionalism and sentimentality kind of like how people don't even follow Myers Briggs descriptions when talking about Myers Briggs. They might just go with whatever they think feels good rather than actually following the official descriptions. Not many people are actually using MBTI. They're making their own descriptions up, and the only way for type to mean anything is if we use the same descriptions so, each time we talk about personality type, we have to ask what system he or she is using and what his or her descriptions for the functions are, if they aren't sticking to the official Myers Briggs descriptions. Regarding conspiracies, specifically, I actually heard the opposite in that ISxJ's won't give into conspiracies. People keep contradicting each other, and even themselves with this typing stuff. There's people that say people with lower Ni fall for conspiracies but then you'll see someone that says the complete opposite.
I've been taking the time to gather some more information about myself whether from different type of perspectives and what different aspects of different people I'm also a virgo
I feel like there’s a certain synergy between INFJs and ISFJs that could be talked-about more (this video’s awesome for what it is, by the way). That Fe-Ti axis can create a certain obstinate moral transcendental nature and resulting concrete propriety that just will not be broken at any costs (following a strict moral code, whether cognisiantly or subconsciously). Both are a force to be reckoned with when certain rules are broken. They might clean up after you in the kitchen but that doesn’t mean they’re not going to absolutely hate you for being a messy slob if you don’t exactly make their job easy and don’t seem to care about leaving pizza to rot in the sink for two weeks knowing fully-well that someone else is going to have to use that sink (spitting in it won’t help your case, either).
Do infps with tertiary si make references to their past experiences as well, especially when trying to relate to someone else's sentiments? I realise I do that often, mostly as a way to compare/align perspectives, and now i'm doubtful of my type (again!!).
INFPs can definitely do that! But even what you said -- you are doing that to compare perspectives, which sounds pretty Ne over Si, buuuuut again, this is a short comment and by no means enough for me to know for sure.
My brother is a classic ISFJ. Staunchly and quietly conservative and traditional. Ardent Catholic ... son became a priest. Celebrates the holidays with ethnic historical precision. Dedicated loving family man. Wife a home schooler. Hard worker (healthcare) and family earner, enjoys putting his kids through school. Doesn't like to talk on the phone. Does very well in his own little world, the sphere that he can handle.
I have no idea what’s my type Ik am not an isfj cuz I don’t have si or atleast I think I don’t my brother says am an isfj tho Ik I have se rather than si and am an introvert but I also don’t think am an istp or isfp cuz my thinking is not as good idk but Ik I don’t have fi either I lead with sensing am pretty sure I don’t think am an intuitive
Thank you, isfj here, you described me. I love philosophy and continually apply it to myself. I plan events for my job, I do a post review on everything including my family events, and every social thing I do...the last has become a detriment because I beat myself up for not doing things the way I’d planned ahead of time, add in the preplanning, it gets exhausting.
hmmm I'm sorry you are beating yourself up -- things won't and can't always go according to plan, but I know you are learning from each of those post reviews :)
Heart of Michi thanks, I have learned a lot, really work to live in the now...but not insecure about my daughter in law liking me, I just go into my house and pretend none of it exists. I’ve tried to me myself, aware of boundaries, try to not say too much, exhausting because she never talks. I try to just see my grandkids, given up knowing her, or my son anymore. There’s things that cannot be undone, he is a immature person, thinks I like his sister more, tired of trying to convince him....I love life, trying to enjoy what’s left and let him enjoy his life.
My Wife's an ISFJ and I'm an ENTP. I couldn't have asked for better!! It's like i can do whatever the fuck i want that some people find annoying but my wife's doesn't even flinch. How about that!!! But the constant head nod in a conversation is what is dislike. But meh atleast she's not an ISTP.
I think there are probably a lot of types that would do that -- but the way they go about it would be more unique to the type. :) sounds like thats what you do?
Holy Crap!!! Those guinea pigs are your children?????? That must have been a horror show in the delivery room. What were you doing to have offspring like that? Creepy AF.

You're explanation about being an ISFJ was WONDERFUL. Right on! Thank you
Thank you SO Much! I really appreciate your video❤️🤗
Thank you for calling us awesome and knowing us well.💖
I enjoyed the video!
My discord name is impossible to type with a keyboard lol :
Shͥαwͣnͫ⇝#9677
Edit: Apparently you can't copy text in youtube so i went ahead and changed my discord to: Shawn819#9677
Idk if I'll keep it like that, i really liked the random abstract "i am" thing with it 🤔
She had me at guinea pigs XD
Thank you for making me proud of my mbti personnality :)
And thanks for explaining so well!
@@Aikonelf You are intelligent! Please ignore the ignorant comment above!
The guinea pigs in the background have a very calming effect 🥰
Like changing that first description of memory to "there was a smell of lavender" - which is now useful information, because "lavender" is smell that other people also understand
to be honest from my childhood to end of high school i had perfect memory. i could say page on book when something happen. but then i become law student started to be Anxiety and my memory are not so good as before. still remember faces, never names, people, and stuff. but i am start to forget some events. even talks.
Any isfj with an enfp?
Fellow law student, I relate a LOT! I’ve forgotten even the simplest things of everyday life and I’m not kidding. Law requires a lot of studying on things that were not previously familiar. As a result, it feels like my mind deleted all the information it already had stored to have space for the new. I sometimes feel smart as a law student but dumb af as a human lol.
Awesome vid. Thank you it was exactly what I was looking for
This is so accurate! Thank you!
I have a very good memory and I'm an ISFJ and pretty shy. Thank you
For this good description☺
Why do I dwell on the negative things or always look at the worst outcome of my relationship any advice would be much appreciated and I feel like u nailed it
I tested ISFJ. It might be our inner
Analysis/problem solver trying to recreate harmony.
I'm glad you found your real type! There are a lot of misconceptions about ISFJs -- like, for example, most ISFJs I know are NOT nurses Lol
Pretty fair and accurate description.
Learning about myself is exhausting! 😆
This is a very helpful video. Thank you.
ENFP here, we have big differences but I love y'all. You are dedicated angels, thank you! 🥰
Thanks that was enlightening from your perspective I'm a ISFJ-DEFENDER
I have a hard time getting the right type on the MBTI tests, it took looking at the function stack to really confirm. Thanks for the video, I appreciated your helpful explanation.
Great video!
It's my first time seeing your videos and OMG your piggies are too cute! Loved watching them while listening to you talk
eee i'm so glad, they are so cute and i love them and I'm so happy to hear when others love them too!
Yay thank you I finally feel appreciated 💛
💜💜💜💜
I tested Isfj but keep coming back to hopefully be more sure. I'm someone who likes to put things in a nutshell..analyze down to the basic gist of something. I think it helps my memory.. also to state these nuggets out loud , maybe because of the need to file info away for later. This 'filing cabinet brain' thing seems very ISFJ so It helped me to see myself. ( I got this from a different video. ) I think our analyzer gets under valued. It's
the J.
I was an INFJ before and now Im an ISFJ.
Thankyou for the video.
Well you described me and my memory is very good and im an ISFJ😉
Wow just found your channel!! You’re amazing. Thanks so much for breaking this down by function
Hella
OMG I am an ISFJ and allllllways start my sentences with “Remember when”
i am isfj. i love to read, i love to learn everything. not to master but just to know.
@@Leverquin good to hear. I had my concerns. lol
Good video, thanks for clearing things up + you're so cute :)
I'm very traditional and Fi dom. Traditionalism is the new non conformity
OMG, this nails me. Thanks for helping me love me more. ❤️
We surely are awesome😎
Makes sense they would be good librarians or historians. Examples in fiction include Captain America( Marvel Comics), Katara of the water tribe(avatar), and probably Jedi Shaak Ti(star wars). Sounds like my aunt.
i totally agree about Katara!! and Captain America! this is a great type and there is a lot of power there, they can be stereotyped as librarians lol
@@PsychologyandChillwMichi like INTP as professors, INTJS as supervillains, and ESFJs as house wives.
Tell me more 😍🥰😍🥰
We (isfj's) don't seem very approachable, I think. But, once we're COMFORTABLE and get to talking- you can't shut us up.
I've been typed as ISFJ, though I feel like my F/T balance is very fine. 95% of this makes sense to me. Now to see if you have an ISTJ video 😁
Thank you so much for your efforts
You too are very kind and gentle.
Are you an ISFJ?
spot on
Very good explanation! Thanks.
You have extremely fantastic facial features!!!😃
I don't even know what the heck I wrote this morning, let a lone a year ago. lol
Actually, I can't even remember what I wrote just now. Not even kidding. I have to look above. All I remember is that I wrote "look above. All I remember is that I wrote because that's all I'm seeing. haha
Thanks for your post.
Who else was just intrigued by the hamster in the background like fr I couldnt pay attention bc of the hamster it was so cute
yeah I love harmony !!
@@PsychologyandChillwMichi Oh, thank you for replying :)
0:01 that was some GULP
woot woot! ISFJ-T gang rise up :D. I am a new sub :)

You had me until you said i guide myself through others moral rules of conduct.
Thank you for this video. Outro music!?

We so gweat!!(great) lol😉
And I remember things☺💕
what is your mbti type... and... there is something in your voice... can't say what..
Hello! I'm an ENFP
sweet
My Wife's an ISFJ and I'm an ENTP. I couldn't have asked for better!! It's like i can do whatever the fuck i want that some people find annoying but my wife's doesn't even flinch. How about that!!! But the constant head nod in a conversation is what is dislike. But meh atleast she's not an ISTP.
From the way you type, I'd say you are an ESTP, not an ENTP.
What kind of person reorganizes the government and does tax reform to benefit the people?
I think there are probably a lot of types that would do that -- but the way they go about it would be more unique to the type. :) sounds like thats what you do?
@@PsychologyandChillwMichi It is. I am trying to find my place. I am sure of the Si, due to my memory. Pretty sure of Ti too,, but not absolutely.
