I have the 2020 version, comes de-restricted here in Canada. I put the Akra titanium race exhaust, quick shifter, tune, and performance filter. I race a corvette on thanksgiving and he wouldn’t even loot at me after I gave him a thumbs up. He was not happy to lose lmao. Seriously amazing bike the CBR650R.

Had my cbr650r did a custom tune today. Top service from the guys there and the bike runs so much smoother throughout the rev range. Definitely more power but not scary

Nice one mate! Got the same bike, de-restricted its a lot of fun. i would suggest changing the gearing slightly and shortening the gears a bit once you get used to the power. i dropped one tooth in the front and up one in the rear and still scares me WOT sometimes haha. ride safe

@@jamesdoust8092 If only they have a quickshifter for the newer model with the improved front end suspension. Apparently, the connecting ball joint from the clutches different to the previous M19 ones. I’m all of my searches I still haven’t found one that will fit. An auto blipping down quickshifter would also be nice, however for that you need the throttle to be rude by wire instead of the cable operated ones these have (whichi actual prefer the feedback from over RBW tech).

Have my 2019 cbr650r derestricted, air filter and Akro pipe. Had it done in Dynobike in Melbourne. It smokes full power MT07's now and still flying under the LAMs banner.
Did you wrap the bike (black) or did you repaint it? Or is there another method that you used to change the color of your bike? Its really good looking and I want mine to look like that.
It's wrap. The 2021 model came in a gloss black with silver accents. I didn't like it and wanted to go with the batman look so made it stealth. They only wrapped the tank in matte black. The only decal showing is now the "HONDA" sticker at the bottom of the fairing. I love the look!

Little late response lol, but. Derestricting the Honda 650 engine brings it to the flow rates the stock exhaust exects to see; pull the restrictor, fuel flash and it's set.
When you say derestrict what do you mean ? Is that you adding the more open velocity stacks? Or is that you getting rid of the old tune and adding the new one cheers mate

Hey man, thanks for the comment! I love the whole batman black matte look hey. I got the 2021 black which had silver on the tank. I got a mates detailing place to wrap the tank in black. There are still some pieces like the rear tail sides that are still the original gloss but looks mean with one colour throughout. Hope this helps. Get a wrapping place to wrap it if they don't have a full matte option. Cheers
The tune definitely helped IMO. Not too sure how lean but I did notice a difference. I'm just sad I lost the pop on the exhaust once the bike was tuned. haha

Hey Mate im working on getting my drivers license for bikes rn, would you recommend the cbr650r? love the bike, already did a test drive and everything but im not sure if i should get a 650 or a 500r (to save some money) and buy something bigger when im allowed to (as i live in germany we have to drive 2 years with bikes with max 96hp until we are allowed to buy something over 96hp)
Hey Mate, it's similar to Australia, we are on this license for 2 years before we can upgrade to full open license. I personally love the CBR650R. Had the Ninja 400 prior to this but got over the power pretty quickly so had to upgrade haha So in terms of what you are after, depends if you think you will get over the 500 pretty quickly in terms of power. The CBR650R in my opinion is one of the best looking mid range bikes out there, Still a lot of fun as well and I'm loving it every time I ride. Keen to hear what you end up getting! 😎
Do not buy or even consider the 500’s. They don’t produce much more power the the Ninga 400’s however weigh considerably more and overpriced. The CBR650R wins this by a very long way.
@@marcusgeorge1825 - What could be more overpriced and overly complicated than a 650R? Only reason anyone ever buys these neutered bikes is out of pure aesthetics. Awful lot to sacrifice in both performance and dollars just for an inline 4. Meanwhile practically every other manufacturer at least introduces both LAMS and full licence bikes for their midweight range. As such I don't see why the consumer should go above and beyond just because Honda's marketing team in Australia don't know how to do their jobs.

Have you ridden any of them? What bike do you currently ride? I’m a returning rider who held a full unrestricted license some 25 years ago, plus an A grade racing license. So I’ve been around bikes for 45 years. The LAMS is great for inexperienced riders, however if you want something that not only produces more power when de-restricted than any other LAMS with all the bits you need.
So... I didnt quite catch what we've done here. Normally a Dyno test + remapping equals more power and a better "throttle-response". Did i catch that right, that u had like 40-ish horsepower on this bike and now like 90?? doesnt it come with 95 HP ? Im a bit confused
They come de-restricted as mentioned in the video when landed in Australia, so for us here it's doubling the power essentially. Everywhere else it'd be that 90ish hp stock. Not sure why they do it as it's for people on what we call restricted licenses here, but we have to take this extra step to unlock it. Which in turn makes a massive difference when done! 👍
Here in italy Honda dealers can sold two types of that engine: one with 48 hp for a person Who has a restricted kind of driving licence and then, for the drivers Who has a limitless power kind of licence (a licence that allows you to drive any motor cycle with any amount of power and yes, we in italy we loves to complicate our lives with useless and stupid laws 😂), so then you can buy and ride the cbr with 95hp. Infact i have the cb with 95hp ‘cause i have the “special” licence.

Do you have to run any different kind of fuel than you did before, after this tuning? Not sure if it’s different in Australia, but I run the premium fuel in the US, where I live, which is 93 octane

Nice mate, congrats! Depending where you are based and each business but here in Australia it cost me around $1,100. That's including dyno tune, de-restrict + upgraded air filter :) Enjoy mate the Dominator sounds mean! I get a big smile every time I start her up. haha

The ECU flash will only cost $660, the 2x2 air inlet trumpets, without restrictions, and OEM, are about $150 or Dave can modify the ones on the bike. Good luck. 👍😎🇦🇺

Wasn’t really happy with the two colour options as I preferred either the full matte black one like yours or the red. Last years offerings were only the “grey” or gloss black tank and matte black fairings so I ordered the grey one. Then due to Covid my order was pushed out to this year. Luckily, the store manager had secured a 2022 one for me in red and didn’t pass on the increased price that they are today. He even threw in and fitted a tail tidy for free. Just waiting on the matching pillion seat cover in red to complete the look. In Melbourne, I can get everything you’ve done for only $650 as I’ve already got the K&N air filter and also have purchased the OEM 2 x 2 unrestricted factory trumpets. Once it’s had its first service (oil and filter change) I’ll be getting it all done (currently sitting on 420 kilometres, so less than 600 to go. I’m what you call a returning rider as not only did I have a full license 25+ years ago I was also an A grade competition racer with Phillip Island being my home track. So I’m unfortunately stuck with a LAMS bike that’s slower than my main car. At least once de-restricted it will be as close to the original Fireblade I had when nee as my street bike, as my race one was a prepared racing GSXR-750. 👍😎🇦🇺

That feeling of wind in your face, cruising when it's sunset and just being present and enjoying the moment is incredible. My dream bike is the BMW S1000RR. Will give it a few more years on the Honda to keep learning and become a better rider then jump up to the bigger bikes. Looking at doing some track days as well. 😎
@@_behindthewheel_ As you are relatively new, my only advice is to learn how to ride a slow bike fast well before considering a leap to what is basically a race bike with lights and mirrors. Only 99.99999% of all bike riders could get anywhere near to what that BMW is capable of and the streets are not a testing facility. I recently got an old 250 cc of mine back running and beat some track day riders on R1’s. The only place they were quicker was the main straight however anyone can go quick in a straight line. 😊 100-120 Hp is all you really need for any roads to be quick, racetracks included for track day riders.

Weird I got mine reflashed and it made 90.1 hp with stock exhaust and change of trumpets. That's too the wheel, I've now got a full custom exhaust system so going to get it remapped.

Why do you modify the stock velocity stacks instead of putting the proper shorter ones in? How does this affect power/torque?

Weird I got mine reflashed and it made 90.1 hp with stock exhaust and change of trumpets. That's too the wheel, I've now got a full custom exhaust system so going to get it remapped.
Keen to hear what you get of it with custom exhaust. I know there are variances from stock to full custom systems.
