Thank you for this video. It explains the use cases quite well. What about the use case of me walking through a city and getting navigation instructions from Google Maps via the glasses in a sort of overlay? Would this work? And in a car?
Thanks for the video! Just recently got a pair of xreal air 2 pro, I'm still unclear on how I can air cast from my iphone to the glasses wirelessly if the glasses need the usb c connection for power
Do you need the beam to use the fixed display mode on beam? I fant figure out how to use the beam at all. Its all plugged in but doesnt get the screen come up at all. Is thete a specific cable i need to get to work with the beam / ally combo? Also how do you put apps like Disney plus etc on the beam? Thetes only netflix and amazon there!
Amazing to me how many tech reviewers sold out to make paid marketing pieces for Xreal (or competitors). Then there’s Linus, who turned down Viture, but then did a hit piece. DHRME, of course, gave us the straight poop. A mature iteration of these (not A/VR behemoths cough cough 🍎) could become as ubiquitous as wireless earbuds. They seem like the visual parallel - eyepods™️. Can they can cut the wires and dongles while keeping comfort and a socially passable form factor? Lot of technical hurdles, but hey, one must have vision - no, no, not *that* Vision.
I don't know where you got that the Air 2 pro have foveated rendering from, that is for eye tracking rendered hardware. The Air 2 does not have eye tracking. If you're trying to say that the edges can be blurry that is because you are not wearing the glasses properly or your eye's IPD (The distance between your eyes) is larger or smaller than the average person. Other than that, Your review is very fair and informational. I like your channel and you have a new subscriber!
Hey @DHRME, I have been following you guys when this channel had a couple of hundred subscribers (I was among them). That time, I commented in one of old videos that one day your hard work would be paid. And here we are, this channel is now rapidly marching toward 100k. Thanks for creating quality videos (With Humor). Also, just a suggestion, try creating some content in Hindi (shorts may be to start with).
what gpu do you have using xreal? It says it recommends at least rtx 3060, but I am wondering if a laptop with integrated gpu is enough for using with the nebula app?
I am almost convinced to but the Xreal Pro 2 and Beam. Your video explained some basic things which I appreciate. However, I have no idea what DEX is. I'll be looking that one up soon. Thanks for your work.
We played with at CES. It's more of a developer product rather than a consumer one. The SDK for hand tracking exists, but no apps really take advantage of it yet.
@DHRME it still will work a lot better than the Air 2 Pro for casting a Samsung Dex phone or connecting to a handheld game player. The ultra doesn't need the beam to be able to keep floating screens locked in place. And that's an essential feature to make AR glasses into a good workstation. It's not really even more expensive once you account for the cost of the beam you will need to use the 2 pros properly. plus it specs are just generally better.
@DHRME I think it has a use if you don't have a phone or other device to cast from. But, I can't see myself without one. The reviews I saw of the ultra showed it could keep screens locked in place without the beam.
@@DHRMEapple has given me replacement MacBooks several times in my experience so your $3k would likely get you pretty far down the road In addition to it being a better product and better experience while you actually use it. I'm just saying...
I bought them for the steam deck, but last week I discovered I can use them with the controller of a drone (Mavic 3 enterprise) and it helps to work on days when it is too sunny, and the sun reflects on the screen of the controller. You can also get a bigger vision for cables and tree branches.
I just bought these today. The most compelling feature of the Vision Pro for me is productivity. I’m hoping these glasses give me 90% of what I imagine the Vision Pro could be at 10% of the cost! Great video!
there is no productivity on a vision pro, maybe becomes that in a generation or two. neither will a professional designer use it yet, nor a programmer like me
So I’ve owned them for a month now and I think they are great! I took them on a one week trip to Japan and used them on the plane. Very helpful. Kept my work private (turned my MacBook screen all the way down). Used them nearly eight hours every day. Didn’t get tired of them. In fact, I’ve just been using them on a bus ride home. If you have a MacBook and could use the screen real estate or the privacy these are well worth the price. I can’t use the Nebula app in a moving car or bus (fine on a plane) because the screens drift as the car turns. But I just don’t use the app and instead go with screen mirroring and that works fine. 100% recommend for productivity use cases.
I don't know if you can charge wirelessly when the USB C port is in use. I tried that once in my car with a wired android auto and the car's Qi Charger. And they weren't talking with each other, tried it at home as well, same issue. I think it's an over-charging issue they're trying to prevent.
I want to definitely get the ultra because I have the ROG Ally and I’m about to update the hard drive to at least 2 TB hard drive because I have a specific amount of games I like to play but I know the ultra version of these glasses is gonna cost like 699 but it’s unreal with what you’re getting the price right nowespecially with hand tracking technology built into it
Good addition for my Samsung S24 in Dex mode.

Great video you two!
But what about people who wear glasses, who are nearsighted or farsighted? Do the glasses also work without special settings?
For near sighted you can get prescription inserts. I'm far sighted and it works pretty well for me without any additional gear.
Thanks for the video!

Dex is something that Samsung has on Samsung phones. When you plug in an external display, it converts to a ChromeOS or Windows like interface.
@@DHRME Thanks. I have an A13, not top of the line. Will this work?
@@toonman361 check on Samsung's site if Dex is supported.
It wasn't clear to me what kind of screen enhancements the Beam does. if you don't get it, does it just give you a smaller lower resolution screen?
Yes. And no body anchor mode. So not a screen fixed in space.
Damn. These are solid! Gonna wait for global availability though.
This + Nvidia GeForce Now on phone instead of Steamdeck.
How can you watch movies offline from XREAL Air 2 Pro AR Glasses on the plane?
