This video was made in partnership with XREAL.
This new XREAL Beam Pro is a fascinating new device that solves three huge issues for any VR/AR users. In this video, I will explain these three big feats.
RUclips: @XREAL_global
Hashtag: #XREALBeamPro #XREALAir2Pro #XREAL
ADDITIONAL VIDEO NOTES:
This has access to Google Play and with that, a massive library of apps ready to use on your device. For example, unlike the $3500 Vision Pro, this DOES have RUclips and Netflix. It also has gmail, strava, spotify, and literally millions of other apps. This is a purpose made device specifically for AR and VR. And as you might be figuring out now, the spaced out cameras on the rear are used to capture spatial video and photos that can be played back in 3D using the glasses.
Cool. Now the second question - how do I use it?
3 Main things - Apps, UI control, Spatial cameras capture
QUICK SUMMARY OF THE DESIGN & WHAT IT DOES
This runs Android 14 on the Beam Pro, and when you plug in the glasses, it runs NebulaOS on the Android system. This is good because by choosing to build on the Android system, XREAL made it easy for beginners to get started. There is almost no learning curve with this. It is very intuitive and this allows users to enjoy the product immediately after purchase.
Turn on the Beam Pro, sign in. This is a familiar Android experience.
Plug in glasses - explain the UI
Beam Pro acts as a laser to control the UI
Keyboard pops up on Beam Pro when needed
Orange button has several functions
Demonstrate taking spatial photos and videos
Comment on viewing them
The memories just hit different
Show multiple apps open at the same time on the glasses
Expandable storage
Storage options - so $199 for 128GB+6GB, $249 for 256GB+8GB
SUMMARY OF MY EXPERIENCE
No more rapid phone battery drain
Image looks better than ever on the glasses! - essentially no eye strain for movies
I can comfortably watch movies or tv shows, play games, and even do some mild email work with the Beam Pro and a bluetooth keyboard
Easy to pair bluetooth earbuds for more immersive audio, even though the audio on the Air2 Pro is already pretty good - sometimes you want ANC.
Great for flights - again, save space on your phone, fill this up, and save the battery on your phone for when you land
COOL FEATURES
Spatial photos and videos
Memory Space
No sms phone notifications to distract you
If you want to see a notification, you can glance down at your phone without taking the entire headset off (subtle jab at Quest 3 and other large VR headsets)
It is reverse and forward compatible with XREAL glasses
They work with older XREAL Air, Air2 Pro, etc. as well as the upcoming XREAL Ultras!
XREAL wants to play nicely with everyone, not build a walled garden. So if you take awesome vacation photos with this device and your friend has a Quest 3 or something, they can view your photos. They’re a very common side by side JPG format
No need to do stuff in VR space if you don’t want to - e.g. feel free to sign into apps on the Beam Pro without the headset on if that is easier for you. Then when you put the Air2 Pro back on, all your apps are ready to go
This can do basically anything a phone or tablet can do besides get a phone number.
It enables you to separate your phone life and VR life if you want to
Frees up storage on your phone - download movies and tv shows on this device when you travel instead of on your phone
Can be used to recharge your phone. Functions as an emergency battery bank when traveling!
Note: this is running a Qualcomm SD6450 processor so it is certainly fast enough to stream and run any apps I have tried, however, if you plan on downloading and running large games, you may want to keep this in mind. - Наука
I've said this before, but I think that xreal needs to partner with phone makers to include the xreal chip that's in the beam that translates the inputs in their phones. Nobody wants to carry a second phone. Honestly this chip should be in the glasses themselves (for pinning the screen to a corner or edge of the fov so you can use it while cooking, biking, etc). That is the key thing preventing it from being an everyday use item.. you can't use the glasses while doing anything else. A lot of other AR glasses you can. The xreals are only good for watching the occasional show in bed or on a plane, so they get relegated to a drawer and only used a bit. Having the image be able to be on the far right or far left of the human fov would make them actually usable
Thank you! Exactly this!
I've seen many videos saying the new beam is great, completely dismissing the fact that you are buying a smartphone like device, which on its own, is a much slower, and lesser version of your flagship phone, just to have 2 extra features for a single product which you occasionally use.... Not to mention the fact that if you already own a flagship phone like the Samsung ultra, you will get a much better experience with how fast apps/ videos buffer and run on your phone, in comparison to this beam...
Its ridiculous...
If you want to put the chip in, then you can just buy a quest 3.
Depiste the very annoying comments in here I actually appreciate your review video. Thank you for reviewing this, please also do this for the Xreal Ultras
Dude is trying too hard to make us love the product

Not sure if it has been said already:
Nebula OS is not 'another' OS on the system. It is _the_ Android OS on the system. (Nebula OS is a Distribution of Android like Ubuntu is to Debian).
Hello. Thank you for your comment.
nebulaOS is a custom version of Android 14.
Nebula is trash! However just plugging in the XReal Airs to a type c phone works great.
I own a pair. The ONLY thing stopping this from being great is mouse support. The second they let you make a virtual workspace that way, you'll love this
bluetooth mouse doesn't work?
Can i use a USB cam on it? I need to shoot small videos (one minute) using a camera attached to my Xreal glasses - no hands

So the Apple Vision Pro with "Lite" hardware but can actually do stuff!?
It supports bluetooth mouse and keyboard
Nice review. Weird haters in the comments. People really need to get a life
To be fair, if Apple made this it'd be like $800
The iPhone does all of this by attaching itself to the xreal glasses except for 3DOF. So what’s the excuse for spending another 200 ?
@@muralibalaraman notice I never commented on how useful the product was, I was simply saying if Apple made a mini tablet and it did exactly what the xreal beam did, it would cost $800
@@jonjons269 they would. They would have a much higher outlay on R&D and margins, plus the Apple tax. But it would be far more reliable. They are definitely making a version of these glasses and will drop them in a few years. I am a huge Apple fan. But personally I am enjoying the XReal x Apple ecosystem quite a lot
More like $7999,-;)
Great review been waiting for xreal to get the addon device with the glasses 🕶️ right aka built with android 😍😍😍
Not forgetting that it is a familiar form-factor so that you can navigate easily as well!
Xreal coulda just made the software better...I don't really get this product. The thing that made the beam 1 attractive was tactile buttons and small footprint. Sure the beam 1 hardware was trash but seeing how they abandoned it so quick does not make me want to buy this product. If they would have made an iPod-esque device with tactile buttons that ran android it would have been a bit but I don't see how people would want to carry around essentially another phone type device in their pocket.
Hey there! We created Beam Pro to be the ultimate spatial computing companion for XREAL glasses. That meant addressing customers pain points, like device fragmentation across the smartphone industry. Even with a Nebula app, our glasses can't connect to every model smartphone. Furthermore, there are still many devices that do not currently or cannot support DP output via USB-C.
We opted to create a device where we could help remove some of the friction caused by the smartphone industry's device fragmentation. Similarly, this fragmentation also includes the protocol diffrences between not only brands, but devices themselves.
We will continue to support Nebula and ensure our glasses work great on other devices. We will not take that away.

As a guy with the vision impairment, I would like these if you can zoom in and make the screens that you’re looking at bigger and or closer to you
you can thats one of the main things they advertise
@@ajchafa I like that idea
What kind of impairment? Because all you're limited by is the available field of view, as far as how big the screen appears to be. But with the Beam it is capable of focusing it at different distances. e.g. you may have say a 55" TV 2m away, it can make it look like a 110" TV 4m away. Same field of view, different focusing.

Just use samsung with Dex and have external battery instead of this. It is completely pointless to take with you another almost phone device. All can be an app instead of a separate device.

2 questions how large of a microSD card and how to get the 50.00 upgrade discount

@@XREAL_Global I think it is a fantastic step forward and will probably buy one for my Xreal glasses. I just have a couple of questions.
1. Do the 3d photos work with the original xReal glasses?
2. Can we setup 3 screens if we download the Nebula app?
3. Can I run my Samsung Note 9 through the beam pro to access Nebula? (this old phone can't run the Nebula app but it is still a media powerhouse)

XREAL Beam Pro supports up to 1T of storage via microSD. The discount can be applied to those who purchased the first-generation Beam via the XREAL webstore or Amazon.
Why can’t they just give us a nebula app for IPhones. We got the
usb-c slot now.
Because they need to sell you more stuff ) But completely agree. I am Mac user, and nebula app for Mac is just a virtual device recording your screen from one device and casting to another. Hence the visible lag
It’s on android
Just for my understanding. Except for the cameras, added battery and charging ability, a phone can do the same right? Thanks for the video
It provides a spatial viewing experience when you plugged your XREAL glasses in, though, when without the glasses, its going to be a normal tablet (does not come with phone capabilities).
Thanks for the great review! A few quick questions: 1. Does it get hot while using ? 2. Is it fanless or does it have a noisy fan like the original beam, 3. How is the battery life? Thank you!
Haha, for these you wont get a reply:) All these devices are getting fucking hot. If they have fan they are loud.
I have the air 2 pros and original beam but the 1080p is missing from the original beam sideloaded apps so I'm going for this but wondering if you have tried Sky Go, I got a version on the original that allowed playback without a drm issue, I would like to know if this works with sky go and doesn't have the drm black screen.
Hello! Thank you for this comment. XREAL Beam Pro comes with the Google Play Store installed out of the box, so you will be able to download streaming applications onto the device. XREAL Beam Pro also has Widevine L1 Certification, which allows for fast, smooth streaming.
@XREAl_Tech_Support doesn't work as external output is blocked by sky and the version that works with the original beam doesn't work with the pro, this is a step backwards, I'm going to keep using the original beam and hope you fix the pro so it works soon before the return window closes as I will have to return this in it's current state

To be honest, I think Xreal’s ability to make AR glasses far surpasses their skill in making accessories. I’ve used my Nreal Air for almost three years and later bought the Xreal Air 2 Pro. They’ve clearly put a lot of thought into the design of their glasses. I’ve tried other brands, but none are as professional as Xreal. The Beam Pro is This Beam Pro also seems to have a lot of innovative designs, especially with its unique instant spatial video capture and viewing feature. But please, keep pushing the envelope a bit more~~~~~~~~
Why this isn't an android app. You probably already own a flagship phone and you have to buy a cheap one to use an app. Really don't understand (i mean i do, but seems preposterous)

This mght be better than the Vision Pro 😂
In every way except for quality. Sadly, I think every VR/AR solution has a at least a few bugaboos that add up to a fatal flaw.
They can enable freeform windows with desktop mode. So that multiple apps can be usable with free resizing and desktop apps UI like on chrome os

No negative points. Just gushing over it like a typical tech"Influencer". 🙄
But only 3.5 hours battery??
Literally just make it a little thicker with 8-10 hours battery so we do not need powerbanks.
Also when the battery degrades eventually, it wont even have 3.5 hours..
Except there is no video input pass-thru that the old Beam did...so no PC, MAC or Switch thru the Beam Pro if that is your use case. The USB input is only for charging! Really disappointing.
Wish u could make a video of the productivity use case, particularly using this setup for multiple virtual monitors for windows. I've seen other videos but with the old beam device and not covering much for productivity use case
Cause the beam isn't for connect windows pc wirlessly. If you want to see your pc screen you there either way so just connect to the pc than.
This needs to all be done on your phone. This is crazy.
So when you are viewing the windows screen, can you see and use your normal mouse connected to the computer? I am a software developer. I have to have a mouse to work and it has to work in windows programs like visual studio.
Would you reckon, I could use that device with my Viture glasses too, or do they make it so they don‘t work with any other brand?
I think this is a good step forward in my opinion as a consumer. I look forward to new iterations and developments from XReal.
I ordered mine, super happy to know all these features!
Why in the name of Jiminy Christmas did they not just offer a USB-C splitter so we can run this kind of app on our existing Android phone?
I just bought a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra AND the Xreal Air 2 Pro set. Why would I want to ALSO have to buy a much cheaper, crappier phone to use separately?
3D "spatial" photos were a gimmick that were deemed unnecessary and not "part of the future" that people couldn't live without, over a decade ago. We don't care. Nobody asked for it and nobody seems to want it.
There is one. They made and adapter
Did the device have GPS? To navigate with gmaps on the bicycle?

Hello. XREAL Beam Pro is a made-for-AR device that pairs seamlessly with our line of AR glasses for a truly immersive spatial experience.
Good idea product but I’m concerned about the beam pro ,the most important part is the heart, before that we’ve our iPhone 15 or Samsung 24 ,we’ve enough power to run all those apps with no hesitation, but now ,cost 200 something can get you what…that’s what I’m worried
Hey there! Would you be able to clarify a bit more so that we can help you? Are you referring to the heat?
All this is nice EXCEPT I use my beam for pc gaming and this CRAP has ZERO physical connection point for any devices. I was misled by xreal because they never said this so I bought one only to be let down when it arrived. THE ORIGINAL BEAM IS SO MUCH BETTER! I cannot find any use for this and wish I never ordered it.
This adds very little value.
I have the XRA2P.
You can watch Netflix, RUclips etc just by connecting to your phone.
Carrying two devices adds unnecessary bulk.
Serious.....if you use a Samsung mobile with video output function, and use the glasses for gaming (PC, Steamdeck, Rog Ally, Legion Go.....), why do I need this?
I aint buyin no 1080p glasses, how can they not have release a 4k pair in 2024?! Lazy.
I enjoyed your breakdown of features in the new Xreal Beam Pro. As a member of the 3D stereoscopic photography community, I'd like to know if photos taken using the two lenses can be saved in a side by side format preferred by many 3D photographers?
I have bought the Air 2 pro. It works fine with Dex. Friend told me not to get the normal Beam, because it's buggy and overheats a lot. I wonder if this new one is any better. I would also love android application that could create virtual multi monitor space.

This implementation makes sense as version 1. Good first step.
Ok, So I had the Xreal Air 2 Ultra & the Beam Pro for a few days thoughts:
1. This devices is the ultimate on the do Display for any Android app as well as streaming media apps.
2. I have used it for far connecting with Anydesk, But I have Windows 11 Pro so I can use Android RDP to log straight into the console, cool.
3. The screen recording appears to be limited to 30 seconds, maybe a setting I haven't yet found. This limitation does not happen in 3d recording via the device.

I am impressed with the field of view of view but in future models they are going to need to raise their game in this respects. It's not going to be like the Apple Vision Pro if you crave that experience but it is VERY impressive for the price. Those screens are exceptional in my opinion and the colours are most vivid.
The problem of all those new devices are the leak of vision. This device its restricted to that brand glasses. Why I buy that if i dont got the glasses? what would be the benefit? a 3rd 180° lens could be something specific to create vr content and request only an extra lens. tons of elements needed on AR and VR. But the device is not even a phone, its an accesory a $200 accessory...
I don't know. I use the original xreal on my samsung phone using Dex. It's an absolute game changer with Dex. I like the Dex desktop. The nebula environment looks a little janky. If you have Samsung phone the xreal glasses are a home run by themselves. This relatively inexpensive accessory may be worth trying.
I would consider buying just for the 3d camers.
wish it had an sd slot for expandible storage.
It has a micro SD slot for up to 1 tb extra storage
One info I would have said in the video
Well, it does come with a microSD card slot 😎
Prove it's not a phone... Some models will have a SIM, what's stopping you making a call? You say it doesn't have a phone number, but for models with a SIM, wrong it must has a phone number. Of course we're waiting for that to be released.
FINALLY!!! Why did it take them so long to connect to the Google Play app store?! Wish this had been done the whole time.
Could you please let me know if it's possible to turn off the screen when the device is connected to the glasses? I'm interested in conserving battery life, similar to how the screen can be turned off when using Dex. Thank you for your assistance.
Must say I didn’t want to buy this because I thought there were cheaper options. But did you did a really good job of breaking it down and explaining everything in a short video. Had to give you props.
does this gives you options to put the screen a little further? Im having issues to see the borders when wearing the glasses for gaming which annoys me.
I have the regular beam and I can make it closer but not further...
Seems like eye movement tracking is still shitty. The killer app for VR is still missing. I'd say it is another failed attempt, but maybe we will learn something in the end.
You didn’t talk about the connectivity to steam deck, Nintendo, ps5 etc. can we do it with this one aswell just like the older beam or xreal has ditched this with beam pro ?
Can you use SteamLink with it to play games with fixed position of the screen (not following your heads’ movement) ?
I think they can just make a nebula app which can be downloaded on Android phones since the device is more or less a phone the only difference is that OS
No display input = dumb
Can i play fortnite in the nreal beam 2
I own the original Beam and rarely use it, mainly because it's a fussy, over glorified battery pack that has a fan because it runs so hot. I rarely use the Beam and Xreal knows this and offered a $50 off code to upgrade. I ordered it and have some high hopes for when it finally arrives.

The Vitura Pro are my favorite glasses. Would this phone be a good addition to those? I like the interface and the fact that I can take 3d pictures and videos.

Forgot to meantion the most used feature of the Beam having a display input with 3DOF is gone, no more video input.
Hey there! As a hardware solution, DP In is not a feature of Beam Pro. With the full suite of Android 14 and Google Play Store, many apps are available to help screen mirror content from other devices onto Beam Pro, like PS Remote Play through the official PlayStation App and Remote Play through the official Xbox App, and myriad PC screen mirroring options. We will continue to support Beam and functionality that many customers love, like how it helps them connect to handheld gaming consoles and other devices. Beam remains a great option for many people. For others who want to download their favorite game streaming apps or screen mirroring apps, we're giving them the simplest solution for that in Beam Pro.
Because i bought the beam back when it came out, you can get a $50 coupon at least right now on this. I used it to order the model with the 256gb storage, like a week ago. Your video is the first one I've seen that talked in depth about it. The people from XREAL sead in a video, that is they have one with cellular, but the $199 to $249 price was to good. I didn't see the point, at least for me. I have a phone already. Oh i did see one other video earlier, but that guy only focused on the camera, even calling it a 3D camera and not what it is, a multimedia system. I also found on my end, my phone doesn't like downloading movies in a high enough quality for my phone screen, and not a 100+ inch screen. I'm hoping this will fix that problem, and I'll use it more.
Thank you for the feedback! We have a 5G version that will be released shortly. We hope you have a great time with your Beam Pro!
