What generation or year MINI Cooper do you have that is having issues like you're explaining? in the first generation mini coopers there was a common oil burning issues but never causing defects if it was monitored. As far as transmission issues, I have never seen a persistent issue present itself like this. Consumer reports actually just released the ratings for the best car brands and MINI tied for second place. It rated the highest in predictive reliability, driver experience, crash testing and safety. If you are referring to a specific MINI you have experienced this with, I would refer to the history of how it was maintained and how it is currently being maintained.
