  • training my mind for peace - two simple practices for a simple life
I have no idea if adopting centering meditation or encouragement journaling could potentially be useful to you, but perhaps finding some simple nurturing pastimes that you can do consistently may be worth incorporating into your daily routine, especially if you are trying to re-shape your mind in order to be more inclined to cultivate a sense of peace. For anyone who experiences anxiety in their body, I encourage you to give centering meditation a try, it might be helpful in the way it was to me. As I sit I focus on relaxing every tiny part of my body, down to my toes (while belly breathing). Even if it’s hard to calm my body, being consistent with it has - over time - given me an incredible tool to finally resolve my panic attacks and create a peaceful relationship with my mind and body. Maybe this won’t work for you, but there are so many enriching practices you can incorporate into your routine that - if done with dedication during the good days as well as the challenging ones - could possibly make a big difference. Please share what is helpful to you! I definitely don’t have all the answers. Take care 💕

Miss Bianca and I have been working on this video for a bit, I thought she made an apt portrayal of the White Rabbit ❤ Perhaps finding some simple nurturing pastimes that you can do consistently may be worth incorporating into your daily routine, especially if you are trying to re-shape your mind in order to be more inclined to cultivate a sense of peace. For anyone who experiences anxiety in their body, I encourage you to give centering meditation a try, it might be helpful in the way it was to me. As I sit, often listening to soft ambient music, I focus on relaxing every tiny part of my body, down to my toes (while belly breathing). Even if it’s hard to calm my body, being consistent with it has - over time - given me an incredible tool to finally resolve my panic attacks and create a peaceful relationship with my mind and body. @TheCottageFairy A true gift of self: Letting yourself experience your emotions like the tide. Allowing them to ebb and flow, peacefully and naturally, as is their own nature. Giving them a sweet kiss of acknowledgement, before sending them on their way... never giving them any power. Power that has the potential to own you or to ultimately become who or what you are, destroying what is truly you. Your heart. Countless blessings to you, Paola. May you nurture your inner peace, keeping it alive within your heart and in all you do. That peace will then find a home within all you do. 💖

I also have a spiritual meditative practice. I pray the rosary every day without fail. Meditating on holiness and asking that graces be given to those in need, re-focuses my brain. I don’t think about myself or feel anxiety. I am praying for the world - everyone who needs healing, strength, perseverance, and protection from evil. I’ve tried many forms of relaxation and meditation techniques but rediscovering my Catholic roots in the rosary was my answer.

Today I felt so tired and unmotivated. I complained to my dear husband that I was exhausted and annoyed by it because I hadnt gotten anything done... he said "your body is forcing you to rest". And I really was taken aback, in a good way. I spent the rest of my day not fighting against the urge to slow down... and I managed to get some light chores done and even bake cookies from scratch by going at a slow and relaxed pace. It kinda shifted my idea as to what "productive" looks like.

Dear Paola, as someone who also regularly falls victim to stress and anxiety I understand the wish to be able to deal with those negative emotions. I think often we try to avoid those feeling altogether and push them aside because they are inconvenient but they have their purpose and are important just as much as the good feelings. And trying to avoid them and shutting them down just leads to them building up and eventually completely overwhelming us. So we must let ourselves feel them, understand where they are coming from, and find healthy methods to process them. I am also still learning how. Thank you for sharing your tips. I wish you all the best. 🥰

I just went through a divorce and now my ex is engaged while still talking to me while his fiance doesn't know..i became scared of the finality of our bond so I panicked but I know deep down I made right decision cause he isn't emotional healthy and he talks mean to me but still bittersweet. All my feelings manifested as this..im aware to feel my feelings more and get to root of it all..each day gets better.

This video comes at a perfect time. As a genuinely anxious person, I’m working hard at controlling my anxiety to live as stress free and happy as possible. It’s not easy, but I’m doing my best to reassure myself. Ironically, the large things I can handle, the ones that are out of my control. It’s the silly little, incidental, every days things that cause me issue. It’s like a beautiful calm pond and all is good. Then a pebble gets tossed in and it’s those ripples that make me anxious. Nothing life threatening or earth shattering. It’s just how I’m wired and I’m doing my best to rewire my brain and my reaction to fine peace. Thanks for this. Wishing you well! ❤

    • @Amber24426
      @Amber24426 Год назад +1

I don’t mean for this to come across as pedantic, but depending on what exactly you mean I think it is ultimately counterproductive to try and “control” one’s anxiety.
It sounds counterintuitive, but I think we “control” our anxiety by not seeking to control it… instead, we diminish its impact on our life by allowing it to drift by as it pleases, without attempting to attach or detach from it (as both are forms of attachment, and attachment to any particular thing is bound to lead to suffering).
When I think of how to best approach this in dealing with my own anxiety, there is one word which comes to mind, that being “surrender”. Surrender, to me, can be best imagined as holding one’s hand out, palm to the sky, fingers outstretched. Should a butterfly come by and rest itself momentarily on one’s hand, one makes no attempt to frivolously mold the situation- one does not forcibly close their fingers around the butterfly to prevent it from flying away (attachment), nor does one prematurely ball their fist up so that no butterfly has a chance to even land on the palm (detachment).
Rather, in surrendering, we intentionally commit ourselves to what is coined as “non-attachment”, which is a sort of indifference to trying to exert control over the situation. In choosing to relinquish that control (or rather, the illusion of that control, as it would be in most cases) we actually gain control over ourselves, pruning our mind to have a different relationship to both the outside world as well as to itself.
I am sorry that this became quite long-winded, though even if this doesn’t resonate with you I do hope it may potentially resonate with someone else. Anxiety can be quite agonizing to wade through, but I think how we choose to approach it can greatly shape how much we suffer from its inevitable presence in our lives.

Inner change is definitely possible. An exposure to a different perspective or thought pattern or self awareness and the need or desire to embrace the new, is sometimes all it takes. I’m 67 and I’ve changed so much, for the better, in the last 24 years. Some I was aware of and some of the changes I quietly and very unaware just absorbed. Your gentle soul, speaks volumes to change and a more peaceful journey.

Your videos always feel like a little escape from daily life and I look forward to them each week. Winter has been long here in Idaho, too. I’m not much of a Summer person, and I thrive in the cold and dark days. I spend time reading and quilting during the cold months. I purchase books all Summer to save until the first cool day in Autumn and I cut out a few quilt tops to put together once I am indoors for the days on end. I feel much like a bear, going in to hibernation, and it’s my way of preparing. I put in a good supply of teas and treat myself to a new pair of cozy socks as well.

Establishing a meditation practice is one of my goals for this year. I haven’t managed to do it yet, but I think if I would decide on a time to do it every day it would help. I use knitting and spinning wool as activities to help me get through the cold and dark days. During the winter I also try to focus on enjoying hot tea, reading, and jigsaw puzzles. Having hobbies that you practice in a particular season helps to enjoy the season more. I tend to reserve puzzles and hot tea for winter, and knitting and spinning mainly in Fall and Winter. Dealing with wool in the heat of summer is too hot and in Spring I’m too busy enjoying nature! 😊

Dearest Paola ❤ How much I love and look forward to your videos each week. To reconnect with your beautiful, kind spirit, hear how you are going, enjoy your incredible artistry of film making and watching the utter cuteness of your fur-babies. Especially the reminder of checking in on ourselves. Our mental health, are we ok? It's such an important task to do, to be kind to ourselves and take the time to heal hurts, really dig deep and ask ourselves are we truly happy and living our best lives. If not, why not? This is something that I have personally been battling with my entire life and I so very much relate my life to Alice In Wonderland, and when you pulled that booked out I just couldn't believe it. I feel as though I am Alice and this world and a lot of the time my brain Wonderland. I am sure a lot of people could relate. I have loved Alice In Wonderland since I was a child, love it even more today. I am sure Bernard would make a fine white rabbit with a pocket coat and watch lol. Not long now sweetheart, the first of those flower shoots will be popping up before you know it 🥰 Take care xo

Spring is just around the corner! We just found the first morels of the season here in the lower mountain ranges of SW Washington, it made me so happy! It really has been a long, dreary winter, and a bit of a struggle. I've kept my spirits up by doing lots of garden planning and researching, cooking up new dishes for us to try, and spending time with my sweet little bantam house chickens. As a side note, it's so interesting what helps anxiety for different people. I've found that more structure in my day and making lists that I can check off has actually reduced my stress greatly. I also keep a bullet note journal for the homestead, and find it very calming and satisfying to see in words my accomplishments for the day.

As always, I so look forward to your beautiful videos, dear Paola, they are indeed such sweet and calm works of art. And your precious bunnies are such a gentle thing. I found crocheting about three years ago - I use it mainly as a filler, doing it mostly for about twenty minutes at a time. I find the repetition and quietness of it so meditative. I learned how to make granny squares initially, and out them together for a colorful blanket for a dear ones new baby last year. Since then I’ve made a few colorful little smart phone cases that I’ve given to some friends that I play mahjong with. So this sweet little hobby has ended up being a giving thing. My main hobby is drawing and painting with oil pastels. That brings me big joy! Again, thank you for your channel. And those delicate cookies, the way they looked and crunched, wish I could have had one! ☺️🙏💜

She is not in a position to purchase your work, but she loves the print. Thank you for bringing beauty to the world. :) I make a list every year in late autumn of things I want to do in the winter. It usually includes reading, cross-stitching, working on family history, journaling, and thinking about what to plant when spring comes. I studied German for 3 years in high school and recently decided to start studying it again. I'm sure that will take me until at least next winter!

Something that helps me is to pray to Jesus and to cast my cares on Him and to leave my troubles with Him. Then I follow that with telling Him everything I am grateful to Him for that day. I do this before bed so I can go to sleep on a positive note. It has changed my brain so that as I go through my day, my brain is automatically looking for all the tiny blessings so that when I get to the evening I can tell Him all about them.
