We were both excited about these books we had found and were thoroughly enjoying, and it wasn’t until we started discussing them that we found out that they were the first 2 books of the same series. It was such a weird coincidence. We have loved the books ever since.
I also found Outlander completely by chance, in a Little Free Library in the middle of nowhere (aka Biloxi, MI), and it kicked off my passion for the series!! I'm in the middle of re-reading them for the 2nd time, and it's so fitting here in Nova Scotia especially!

Sometimes I wonder when other RUclipsrs do that, cause- let's be real, no one has a perfectly cleaned and decorated place at all times. Thanks for normalizing normal life again! And giving us some companionship during the boring chores as well 😅 even if it is your garbage channel, some garbage is a real treasure!
I vacuumed yesterday today I’m cleaning out my crochet closet and we’re taking a big double closet with all my finished work. So many totes and so much to go through. And when I take a water break I sit in my rocking chair and pick up my latest project and watch you work. It’s been nice to have company. 😊
I FINALLY finished the basement repairs and whilst we hang out I’ll be shampooing five upholstered chairs; two we’ve had stored in our garage, two we purchased for $25 that are pre-loved and one wingback chair picked up curbside for the low, low price of free! It is a button-tufted, gorgeous, tan velvet piece but she is very dirty. Wish me luck.
Dear Shannon, I regret to inform you that you have been given several of my gifts/skills/talents. Apart from being not only beautiful/erudite/charming/intelligent, but also an allrounder in every craft known to man; also tech. savvy, entertaining,acrobatic/dancer. Not to mention a woman of the world; sophisticated, and should be Prime Minister of Canada as you could run the country with one hand tied behind your back. Do you grasp the point I am trying to make? It's not fair- I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your channel; you go girl!!! much love, light, and luck to you and yours. grumpy grandma U.K.
I am in the beginning stages of a paper piecing project of a scrap grandmother's flower garden quilt. I did purchase yellow for the centers and white muslin for the paths. I'm doing it traditional with scraps from my quilting group, so I will be stretching it out over a long period because I'm going try only making one flower from each different scrap.
I didn’t start with the intention of getting things done, but I did! took everything off the bed to wash so spouse can remake the bed (I am not strong enough for that task). Got several loads of laundry sorted and stacked to go in as the machine is free. Folded/hung up all the laundry that was ready to be put away. And EVEN GOT INTO MY SEWING ROOM! 🎉 I want to say thank you - because this is the first weekend since the start of school that I have had the energy to actually put away and start organizing the two rooms I use for sewing and school planning. Having you there in the background helped me get started. ❤ And now that I am started, (as the Doctor would say): allons-y! 😂
Regarding the bed extension for the cutie Corgi; see if you can find a baby co-sleeper bassinet used. They are usually height adjustable, have three high sides and an open side to the main bed, and can be easily moved for bed making and floor cleaning etc. ❤
@@mermaidnchains a lot of regular cribs, too, have height adjustable mattresses and a long side that drops down. The only problem is that a crib or bassinet is often quite expensive new and it's a thing that you want to leave at the thrift for someone who actually needs it for a human baby.
@@Sewcial-Anxietea Safety requirements upgrade all the time, making many cots unsafe for human babies and therefore unable to be sold. Used, in good condition, would be superb for a side cot corgi bed.
that sounds both incredibly ugly and incredibly practical 🤣🤣 We'll eventually just build her something permanent and immobile (cuz I guarantee if it rocks or moves at all while she's on it, she'll freak out and never use it ever again, because she's a bit special like that 🙄)
End of week Cleaning of the House after a week of winterizing projects outside of house. That's what I'll be doing whilst watching. Edit 1: cup o' tea break after building extra shelf in pantry. Edit 2: ecclectic outlyers channel. 🤔 ...i like it!!! Back to work for me! LOTS left to do! Its been chilly here in East Texas! Fire in the heater efery morning; sometimes at night, just to cut the chill. You have a blessed day, Dear Lady! ❤️
Laundry folded, winter coats put of storage and airing out, and the last of my room picked up. I needed this to get my list done today. Now relaxing with the cat before a quick store run. I like these videos.
Shannon, future me says- thank you! We have enjoyed your videos a lot. My teenagers hear your voice and stop in to watch. My son said it's probably the random content that appeals most to him.
I love organizing my sewing room with you. You are a great motivator. I adore both of your channels. I'm proud to be a Trash Panda or Eclectic Outlier. Thanks for all you do
I watch all videos because my hearing has been deteriorating since I was middle aged, and I've had hearing aids for a few years now, but, I've also had a nagging issue with my left ear and I can only hear with my right nowadays, so, I must watch and use captions too. I had my flu shot and Covid booster several days ago and have been nodding off at the kitchen table every evening since. Not doing a darn thing, just lolling about, watching and listening, and enjoying the chat. Thanks, sweetheart. ☺️💕
I found your videos when I was in the middle of home renovations, and now I'm binge watching them all, they're so entertaining 😊Like you, I have a few I save and watch- I love DIY Tiff, (the one where she installs the plank floor and the bug is attracted to the saw- hilarious!) Tyler and Todd, yes, Rachel Maksy, Bernadette Banner, and soooo many knitting videos!
37:32 and I'm done with the dishwasher and folding the laundry and then putting more wet stuff out to dry. Sitting down with a cup of tea, pleased that I got my tasks done faster than I thought. Thanks for keeping me company Shannon!
Cleaning/organizing the sewing room. That hexagon could be used as a cover on your sewing table for when it's not in use. I hear you on the fabric scale. There's so many fun things I've bought in the past that I've only been able to use now that I've got kids, lol. Got the room for the second shelf to be put up, yay! And got in the clothes hanger for the corner, woot!
The main way I motivate myself to clean is also calling it a gift to my future self. The video is the perfect length to tape together Ora Lin's sophie dress.
I am sewing a busy book for my granddaughter. I was able to see on 4 flies for feed the frog. The pupils on Elmo peek a boo. Cut out bows to match the dresses for the dress up doll!
I just love both channels you have , this one you are more I don't wanna say more urself but more urself relaxed mode no presenting mode ?? Does that make sense?? I mean I love both of urself 's , I enjoy both and they are both real and down to earth keep doing what ur doing !! Like either name for this channel it's urs to do as u want so u can call it whatever and I will be here watching !!
That's why i really enjoy your channel,""You are so real. Channels that i use to watch at first where the same at the Beginning but after awhile i notice that they changed..I hope you stay true to youself and don't worry about trying to make the perfect video all the time because thats what makes your channel so enjoyable.
Thank you for motivating me to at least pull out (as the project bag was burried) and atart cutting the fronts off my stepdaughter's old t-shirts for a eeighted lap quilt for Christmas. I did a bit too much at trunk-or-treat at my church today, so i was bed ridden for about 4 hours. Thankfully my energy is coming back a little, & the pain has lessened. Thanks for keeping me company for part of it. ❤
This has been your sewing room, right? Shannon, your the best. Keep it up. You are so real. I like your blog so much. Your home looks like me moving into somewhere. Your thinking things thru , your rational and processing sounds like me. I'm so old now but when I used to do this it was like you so I can relive some things. Cool! Laurie from Idaho
In RE: to the two sewing books, I'd like to offer a suggestion and opinion. Why don't you do one for the main channel and one just for fun, for the Eclectic Outliers aka Garbage channel? My opinion is that when you are enjoying what you are doing; when you are having fun and sharing it... that joy makes the video contageous on either channel. You even make cleaning fun!! How the heck do you accomplish that!! You are doing a fantastic job by just being yourself and encouraging us, your viewers. Thank you Shannon, for all of the hard work you do to provide content.
Please make more of these videos. I did some knitting and accomplished quite a bit. I need to declutter my closet. I'll save that for next time. I appreciate you Shannon!! Also, loved the corgi sniffs.
I have a suggestion for managing those Amazon papers from gift-senders. I'm a tongue cancer survivor, and just before i started treatment, I set up a wishlist for supplies that I expected to need or knew I would need. Anytime I opened an item, I took a picture if the gift note next to/on top of the item, then I emailed it to myself with a few words that I kept consistent in each email. It made it much easier to send messages or notes to my friends when the time came and I was feeling up to it. 💖
Also for Canelle's bed, what about a trunk at the end of the bed? that's what we do for the cats. doubles as storage for off season clothing and extra blankets
This is evening for me, and I am finally watching your video while relaxing after accomplishing a bunch of stuff. So I guess the relaxation is what I am achieving while watching. 🤔 Anyway! I spent the day puttering about, cooking, washing dishes, organizing, and searching for the things I need so I can do more stuff tomorrow. (Hanging curtains).
Planning to eat a good breakfast and then continue working on my post-flood basement. Your pieced quilt “for you” reminds me of the quilt my mother gave me that her grandmother made for her. She used scraps from Barbara’s (my mom) favorite dresses, filled out with fabric she matched very carefully, so it’s beautiful! Barbara could sit with it and tell me about all the dresses from her childhood - sweet!
Finally was able to watch this while helping a colleague with some tedious tasks at work. Great company and kept me from getting too focused. I watch RUclips in a similar way to you Shannon. I have my watch later list, which I watch, and then a playlist for puzzles, organizing or labelling photos or doing other tasks where watching something would be too distracting. I have heard about "second screen" and having different playlists helps me be mindful of that. Also so I can recognize the times when I just need silence while doing a task.
I worked on a crochet jumper while listening this this, but that’s because it’s suitable for that. I watch your house vids with full attention from my eyes and ears 😊 And oh I agree so much re: fabric with tiny prints, I’d love to see more large prints! I’ve been thinking of making my own large print fabric because I want to make a reconstruction of Paul Poiret’s La Perse, but I have yet to figure out how to do that effectively on velvet.. Anyway, ❤ the garbage channel!
I have youtube on overnight to a playlist of NDE stories . I’ve used youtube to lear visually how to fix or maintain something, and follow many sewists, crafters, gardeners, and watch documentaries, movies, singers. It’s better than TV. With Prime, you don’t get ads.
This is just what I need to keep me company me whilst I finish up one of the last modules of my Level 3 Admin course. I found out first thing Tuesday that I passed the Analyst exam I took last month, and that has given me the motivation to finish this up.
I'm so with you on watching RUclips, Shannon. I am usually sitting and WATCHING what my favorite YTers are doing. I rarely have it on in the background...except for now: I'm putting iron-on interfacing onto velvet for a huge craft project. And I think your "Garbage Channel" is probably good for you psychologically for what/how you post on this channel. :-)

You got thissss!
This is a lovely way to create or do tasks--in virtual community 🤗
Totally!!
That's what I love to hear!! Congrats!
Just finished as this video ended. Thanks for the entertainment and motivation!
Perfect!
Regarding the bed extension for the cutie Corgi; see if you can find a baby co-sleeper bassinet used. They are usually height adjustable, have three high sides and an open side to the main bed, and can be easily moved for bed making and floor cleaning etc. ❤
thought of the same :)
@@mermaidnchains true.
that sounds both incredibly ugly and incredibly practical 🤣🤣 We'll eventually just build her something permanent and immobile (cuz I guarantee if it rocks or moves at all while she's on it, she'll freak out and never use it ever again, because she's a bit special like that 🙄)
A big squishy cushion for the hexagon quilt from your projects xx
Yes please. Make a video on the colorwork hat!
🥳🥳🥳
Shannon, future me says- thank you! We have enjoyed your videos a lot. My teenagers hear your voice and stop in to watch. My son said it's probably the random content that appeals most to him.
That’s so sweet to hear! 🥰
I love organizing my sewing room with you. You are a great motivator. I adore both of your channels. I'm proud to be a Trash Panda or Eclectic Outlier. Thanks for all you do
You're too kind! 😘
Thanks for the motivation and the company during my own tidying & cleaning session 🥰
I would stain the wood darker. It will be soo beautiful with those colours ❤
Thanks heaps for the company to clean up my sewing room following musical costuming season, so helpful to do that while you tackled yours.
knocking out dull work with this in the background, loving the "body double" videos and following along with your journey!
You're very welcome :)
I've just done my chores today. This is my relax time.
I found your videos when I was in the middle of home renovations, and now I'm binge watching them all, they're so entertaining 😊Like you, I have a few I save and watch- I love DIY Tiff, (the one where she installs the plank floor and the bug is attracted to the saw- hilarious!) Tyler and Todd, yes, Rachel Maksy, Bernadette Banner, and soooo many knitting videos!
welcome aboard!!
I love this format/idea! My hour shall be spent working on a crochet C2C Graft blanket for a Christmas gift
Fantastic! I wish you smooth sailing and little frogging!
37:32 and I'm done with the dishwasher and folding the laundry and then putting more wet stuff out to dry. Sitting down with a cup of tea, pleased that I got my tasks done faster than I thought. Thanks for keeping me company Shannon!
You're so welcome, congrats!!
The toe tapping & sniffing for leftovers sounds at the end are Great❤!!!
lil bonuses for those who stay to the end, as per usual!!
I enjoy listening and glimpse what you're doing while I work on a puzzle.
Sounds like a perfect combo!
I am sewing a busy book for my granddaughter.
I was able to see on 4 flies for feed the frog. The pupils on Elmo peek a boo. Cut out bows to match the dresses for the dress up doll!
I've been sitting and knitting on a shawl. With 600+ stitches on the needle each row takes a while so you've kept me company, thanks x
Wonderful!
For the room divider, I think the spring side would look good with a whitewash instead of full paint ❤
Finish the purple granny hexagons for my blanket project
I just love both channels you have , this one you are more I don't wanna say more urself but more urself relaxed mode no presenting mode ?? Does that make sense?? I mean I love both of urself 's , I enjoy both and they are both real and down to earth keep doing what ur doing !! Like either name for this channel it's urs to do as u want so u can call it whatever and I will be here watching !!
Thank you so much 😊
That's why i really enjoy your channel,""You are so real. Channels that i use to watch at first where the same at the Beginning but after awhile i notice that they changed..I hope you stay true to youself and don't worry about trying to make the perfect video all the time because thats what makes your channel so enjoyable.
Thank you! I got a lot of painting done on my miniature terrain. 😊
You're welcome! 😊
Washing all my bed linens and cleaning my bedroom!
Nice! Get 'er done!
Omg baby Canelle! I almost can't handle the cuteness!
right?!?!
Oh, I’m sorry to hear that!
I'm hemming my first dress made from a real pattern! Thanks for the companionship!
Amazing!!
Cool! Laurie from Idaho
you're welcome!
Love it Shannon it’s nice to get stuff done with you!
Thank you for helping me prep lunch and fill dish washer among other things.😊
My pleasure 😊
I love the colors of your EPP ( your scrapes) . I agree that would make a beautiful wall hanger or inside a beautiful victorian frame.
Except its twice the work. But I'd like to see the longer less edited version on this channel
I love these videos! My tasks for today: laundry, change the bedding, and tackle the mail pile.
This was awesome!!! Definitely need a ‘body double’ buddy. I was able to vacuum, and organize my winter wardrobe, then shower and get cozy 🎉
Baby Canel! My heart is melting 💕 Thank you for sharing. Doing laundry today and maybe, just maybe I’ll tackle my closet which needs reorganizing 😅
♥️♥️♥️
Please make more of these videos. I did some knitting and accomplished quite a bit. I need to declutter my closet. I'll save that for next time. I appreciate you Shannon!! Also, loved the corgi sniffs.
Thanks was able to finish my sewing project while watching, great content for working and watching.
I'm glad it was helpful!
Awww the christmas video is sooooo cute ❤
I have a suggestion for managing those Amazon papers from gift-senders. I'm a tongue cancer survivor, and just before i started treatment, I set up a wishlist for supplies that I expected to need or knew I would need.
Anytime I opened an item, I took a picture if the gift note next to/on top of the item, then I emailed it to myself with a few words that I kept consistent in each email. It made it much easier to send messages or notes to my friends when the time came and I was feeling up to it. 💖
I've got to start tidying up my living room & taking stuff up to my craft room.
Wait, that was my plan of action! 😂
Go for it, you two!!
I will do it tomorrow and check out your playlist😇
Also for Canelle's bed, what about a trunk at the end of the bed? that's what we do for the cats. doubles as storage for off season clothing and extra blankets
She is far too posh for something that isn't a proper and perfect height extension of the mattress, unfortunately 🤣😭
I think a hexagonal cushion would look great 😻 The Peter Pan jumpsuit is going to be amazing!
thank you!
I had breakfast! The boxes in the basement are calling . . . .
I have decided to save this video for Sunday morning so I can have a body double to clean my space with me Thank you thank you thank you
Sounds like a great plan!
This is just what I need to keep me company me whilst I finish up one of the last modules of my Level 3 Admin course. I found out first thing Tuesday that I passed the Analyst exam I took last month, and that has given me the motivation to finish this up.
Hey, congratulations!!!
Woot! Congrats!
@@shannonmakessomethingelse Thank you! I finished the module and moved onto the next one. I'm aiming to get the last 3 modules finished this weekend.
@@melissaroth4467 Thank you!
buying a lot of yarn today so now I'm trying to make a sweater and listening to you and a big mug of coffee...
awww, nice!!!
That EPP room screen will be gorgeous!
I fully agree!
Well done 🎉
I am working on cleaning and rearranging the master bedroom. Not while watching you but inspired by your old house escapades😅
Omg baby corgi! Too much cuteness! ❤
Ive had a lot of Drama lately so my deep cleaning routine has been disrupted. However I did finish my work notes while watching/ listening.
