  • This video gives extensive examples of how to use prepositions in Chinese, an important HSK grammar point that Mandarin students need to master. With pinyin and hanzi subtitles. Also, the slow and clear Chinese will help you understand the presentation better.
Knowing prepositions increases your ability to clearly express your thoughts in Chinese. In this video, Eileen reviews 50 essential prepositions and gives you up to three sentence examples for each preposition so you can learn how to use them in sentences. Take your Chinese to a higher level by mastering this video's content! Video has both, pinyin and English subtitles. Video also serves as good Chinese listening practice.

Thanks again for the video. As I do a lot of video editing and effects myself, I know it takes quite a long time to put one together, esp. with all the text and cuts you've got here. Your efforts to help others study mandarin is greatly appreciated, truly.

It seems very useful to me, also. I see the new construct for subject / preposition / object / verb. Now that I think about it I might have seen it over a year ago in my hsk training with a native speaker.

I'm so happy i found your channel, I never took an intermediate class but I did pass Advanced so I'm in some weird level where I'm lacking some essential things to truly be able to speak and these videos are helping a lot.

You just need to fill in the gap. Practice listening and speaking more, then you won't be stuck in between (intermediate - advanced).

Dear Eilleen, this is is so good, so useful; a pure gold! If I could suggest an addition: a short quiz at the end with 20, 30, 50 ... sentences which are missing prepositions (blank spaces only) and which we have to supply. And - no, KEY, no ANSWERS provided; make us work harder!

Everyone should subscribe to mandarin corner! You loose nothing but they gain more money to help create these amazing videos which compared to a lot of so called ‘learning chinese videos’ theirs is actually incredible. Since i have started using mandarin corners resources my chinese has gone from beginner to nearly fluent. They have taught me all the most important words that learners need to know. I would rate mandarin corner 10/10 due to their videos being spoken at a natural speed but also with a clear and announced voice. Their content is real life stuff that gets you stuck in. There is no reason whatsoever to not subscribe to this channel. Thanks so much mandarin corner. Looking forward to more videos in the future!

The way the parts of the speech that form groups are segmented is extremely helpful. E.g.: Subject + preposition + another subject = group, then the other parts of the sentence: verbs, adverbs etc.. also grouped. Some tutorials do not do it and I find it difficult to learn their way..Speech comes in 'chunks', word groups and a language is easier learned identifying those, as you do. Thank you.

Hey, Emily has her very own emoticon now: 👺
(In Japan people go out in the parks and dance traditional dances while wearing traditional masks. Then, in breaks, they take off the masks and you see that everybody has chosen masks that look, in all essentials, like the basic character if not the exact look of their own faces. The emoticon above, "Oni," is the one that gave me this insight: an old man wearing it looked *exactly* like the mask. It was amazing!)

谊 yi4 is the correct pronunciation. A lot of people mispronounce this word, because "宜" (the right half of the character) is pronounced yi2.

A great video. Truly appreciate your hard work. I want to draw your attention to something. It's not always the prepositions in Chinese that cause difficulty, but the absence of them in Chinese translations. A lot of times a sentence with a preposition in English often translates into a Chinese sentence with no preposition. This creates a lot of confusion. Would it be possible for you to do a video on that?
