I loved this the first time I heard it over twelve years ago. Today was the first time I've heard it again, and it it brings back the memories of those days after 9/11. We were all shell shocked. It changed me, and many others, forever. If you weren't old enough to grasp the horror of that tragedy, you cannot understand the depth and impact of this broadcast. I think the majority of America was tuned in that night. For a few short months, we were all united. It was such a sobering time in our history. God rest those poor souls lost to hate and ignorance.
i saw this around 15 months ago. today is 9/11. this had stuck in my head all that time, and i went back now that i am more familiar with the original song and can fully appreciate it
When 9/11 happened, I was too little to understand. However when I saw this, and I saw the tears in their eyes I finally understood that an absolute tragedy had happened. Just today I learned this version on guitar. I had to because it is just absolute beautiful.
One of the best versions of Wish You Were Here ever. I will never forget watching the 9/11 concert and hearing it. Sure, Fred Durst is a toolbag with a ton of effects on his voice, but that arrangement along with John Rzeznik just rocks.
@calimero66140 I disagree, I saw this live and speaking as an 80's relic I thought it was a classy and respectful rendition, maybe the performance of the night Always loved this song and it rips my soul up now even more as I lost my father in January
This recording was done a week and a half after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center buildings and the Pentagon. It has nothing to do with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm sorry, but you were wrong and now you have been corrected.
On September 12th, what were you doing? Who were you. What did you feel? This recording, the collective performance of everyone on that program that night helped a lot of people get through that time. It helped people get through other times of loss. Your flame out here is inappropriate and way way way out of line. Although I'm sure that Pink Floyd would otherwise appreciate your loyalty, they'd tell you to shut up too.
This has been posted for the 6 Gay and straight boys 13 years old to 19 years old who were bullied...to death. They killed themselves. For what? For who? This song we've dedicated to them.
wat do you want man? you want us all to indulge you and say fuck you? america fuck yea! how bout this. despite your ignorant ignorant selfish unkind comment and motivation, you stilll have my love as one human to another. be nice. be kind to your brothers. lern from everybodys mistakes and be the best person you can be. PEACE.
No man this version sucks. We should respect the great melody and the feeling associated with lyrics and rhythm created by the great Pink Flyod. This is not cool. Simple it's better not best.

What a great song for such a horrible tragedy..
johny is awesome but nice one to fred! didn't know he could sing this well. great track by floyd - like this cover too.
to thoe who lost their lives in conn.school god be with you
I get the feeling that the people who feel this song was "disrespected" by this version, were about 10 years old on 9/11/01.
You don't get it.
The point wasn't to sound like the original. The point was to honor the lives that were lost on 9/11
