"I am not a professional gamer" I hope no one is giving you a hard time. These videos may not be to a T on rules but you guys are doing great and having fun :) hope everyone involved had a good time and I'm glad you put these videos out. Thanks for making it fun to watch.
I appreciate that! The 40k crowd definitely has either higher expectations or just want the game to play a certain way. I don't know but we have fun making the videos so we're going to keep going...for comments just like this! 😀
Great battle report, we really enjoyed that. Your Octarius terrain looks particularly great, by the way. Those poor Tau really do have to get all the work done at range, because once the Orks get up close, they don't stand a chamce 😅
3:26 I believe when you play the strategic ploy Shhhh you dash all the eligible models before the firefight phase of the turning point begins. "Friendly KOMMANDO operatives that are not within Line of Sight of enemy operatives, or have a Conceal order and are more than 6" from enemy operatives, can IMMEDIATELY perform a free Dash action"
It's also worth noting that the free Dash happens outside of an activation, so when you do activate an Ork model, they can dash again as part of their activation. You can cover alot of ground this way and get across the board and get Krumpin' much quicker 😁👍🏻
Another fun thing to do with orks is the pregame Sneaky Git tactical ploy in conjunction with the rope equipment. You forward deploy the rokkit boy in a vantage point, pop off a rokkit, then drop down is one of my favorite opening plays. You gotta use your scout phase to take him out of conceal though.

Here you go, my friend. The same recipe was used on Ocatrius I just added a little Underhive Ash as a drybrush at the end. ruclips.net/video/MFYPvF4ruak/видео.htmlsi=5BPjzF4kYmT1kGrQ
I love me some Tau! I’m big on the Warhammer 40k lore but haven’t really played since 2008. I think I may get into Kill Team because small infantry battles are my taste. Awesome video! FOR THE GREATER GOOD!
Hi! Thanks for the great batrep. I am still learning the game, so I got a question: how can the Tau player climb up at minute 5:00? I though you have to scale the outside wall of the building to climb up?
@@0815Murks we’re not experts by any means. We just treated the wall as scalable. Any terrain interactions need to be discussed in the pregame so everyone understands what it is.
Continuing to love this series! Hopefully the Tau will find a way to break out of their funk 😂 I love the gritty paint job on the Octarius terrain. Did you happen to do those in a video, or have a recipe on hand? Looks slightly different from all the Necromunda stuff :)
Thanks! It's actually the same recipe. Black primer, Mahogany Brown, Silver drybrush. I did add some Underhive Ash to this one after I did accent colors. Really quick, easy and effective.
I played my Tau vs Fellgor in my league championship. Markerlights are a trap. I played without a marker drone. I used the bonded ploy every round and got the re-roll that a markerlight would give without wasting the action. I think in the entire match i used markerlight once or twice and won 14-9. Especially with ample Vantage use the bonded ploy instead. I think the Tau player missed his Recon Suite ability too (from the Recon drone). I think you played the movement onto vantage right, two cricles to climb and one to move forward (as long as you start within triangle of the terrain.
Question! I’m very new to this but from my understanding, in turning point 1. If your units start with conceal they stay with conceal. You can’t switch to engage or viceversa until the next turning point. Is this correct?
Great battle report, guys! It is such a shame to see my Tau brother is getting blasted. The recon drone's analysis ability aids heavily in confiming hits, don't forget about it if you have to move too far to shoot! 😁 Good luck on your next guys!
Im a little confused why you think you messed up the rules 5 minutes in. You said you had a free dash from Mont’ka, which should bring you within 1” of that support pillar, which should be scalable. Then 2 circles of normal move to ascend (since rounding up) and 1 circle to move horizontally?
So correct, free dash forward. Then 2 circles of movement up, then technically we went further than one circle. There's a picture in the rulebook that had me hung up.
It’s 2 AP to perform. It’s a tac op. An operative can perform this action while on a Vantage Point that is not within your drop zone and has not been secured by friendly operatives. An operative cannot perform this action while within engagement range of enemy operatives. If this action is performed by friendly operatives, that Vantage Point has been secured by friendly operatives.
@@MiniatureGameMontage oh, that's from the older cards. The new one reads, "You can reveal this Tac Op in the Target Reveal step of any Turning Point after the first. At the end of any Turning Point, if you control a Vantage Point that is more than crop_square from your drop zone, you score 1VP. If you achieve the first condition with a different vantage point at the end of any subsequent Turning Points, you score 1VP. Friendly operatives control a Vantage Point if the total APL of friendly operatives on it is greater than that of enemy operatives.
As a tau player id recommend only use markerlights on stubborn/key targets 9/10 if you can take a shot, take the shot unless you're getting the tac op but even then shoot first mark later 😂
Some things I notice, as a Tau player (who's so far been playing Compendium): round 1 the Shas'ui should have fired his gun instead of his markerlight, he's got better BS than most of the squad. Round 2 I think that ork at objective 2 took three actions (disengage tech, charge, fight). It also seems like you're wasting both the Drone Controller and the Gun Drone by using both of them to do the work of one operator. The Markerlight drone also doesn't seem to be doing any good, might've been better to pair them with the Drone Controller and let the Gun Drone shoot (full rerolls!). I also don't think you use the Analyze ability from the Recon Drone (again, full rerolls! and chain activation!). Aside from that I think the orks made the smart move to rush up the board early to secure those midfield objectives, hard to beat that without strong melee.
Thanks! If the Ork took an additional activation he might have been given +1 APL from another operative. I can't remember. The Tau have really been a struggle for me. They have a lot of synergies that need to be chained and my brain struggles to put them together. :D Thanks for watching and for leaving some feedback!
@@MiniatureGameMontage Yeah that's partially why I've been using the Compendium list, I got it down to six datasheets and nine operators. In fact, now that I check, were you running one or two Pathfinders short? Wahapedia says 13, but I can't tell if that factors in the dataslate nerf or not. In Hunter Cadre the Recon drone counts as 2 operatives but I don't think Pathfinders have that limitation. (and either way, great video, and believe me I've made a ton of mistakes too while learning Kill Team)
A quick note that this battle report was filmed prior to the Q4 2023 data slate release!
