    Lots to coment on. Firstly DO NOT HANG UP YOUR DETAILING BOOTS!!! 😅. We need you Jon! There will always be new brands and chemistry to test and mull over, so your mega testing will always be pertinent! I think most of these brands make some all round great products generally, I think we're in a good place to be in with a great bunch of products to suit everyones needs and budgets. I've used a good few of those products like 303, Carpro, Autoglym and DIY. All of them have a place and generally happy with each.
    I do however have a favorite which is the DIY interior ceramic, despite the cost its a proper ceramic coating that is lasting very well. It gives a darkening effect and makes dirt and dust removal very simple. I pulled the trigger on that one because of ease of maintenance cleaning and protective properties that it has such as the UV protection that ceramics give and the abilities to reject straining and soiling. Applied once and you could maintain it with soapy water if you like and dry it off. I use Carpro interior detailer as it smells amazing and plays well with DIY. I use 303 on my missus MX-5 as she's always tarting around with the roof open and a quick wipe around with 303 gives it a bit of a glossy finish with a good dose of UV protection (allegedly) i dont know how to see UV working, I guess time will tell. Carpro PERL- I'll put my hands upas say ive only used it as an engine bay dressing, and I've not used it on interior plastic trims. Autoglym, I used years ago, I can't quite remember what is was like, I think it was greasy when Applied and had to knock it back with another towel to tone it down to a finish that I preferred which is a dry satin look. Subtlety detailed look is the effect I like, but I think that's a personal thing.

      It has to end at some point. But you tube want teenagers to be content creators it wants to give them views copying viral trends. Detailing is going the same way. Copying short format viral detailing trends that were all started here funnily enough. I speak to the creator teams at you tube but they are not interested in niche creators. They invite the trend copying channels onto there shows as example of good creators but they are nasty kids that copy. Even their new creator tools are there to help you discover what you audiences watches so you can copy it. It's a low level platform for non creative people now.

    • @79blustone

      @ForensicDetailing Social media has lost its mind if they want to promote short crappy copy-cut-n-paste teenage content reposters. It just seems like a race to the bottom. At that point I shall switch off. Maybe, if you were to keep plugging away you'll be the only one left making quality content and then cleaning up as you'll be the niche channel left

    Even for a weekend warrior doing only their own car once a week 9:00 a product costing upwards of £40 a litre would need to be something miraculous to justify buying ...it's certainly never going to make it into a business use scenario unless your charging obscene amounts of money for a full detail of the exterior and interior

    The only reason that I watch this channel, and no other "detailing" channels, is that you are up front and honest about the conditions of your tests. Also you try to put some science behind it all, even if it's sort of made up, but you treat all products the same and go through proper testing to compare. Most other channels go "I've been sent this product by XYZ and let's see how it goes", proceed to use £150quids worth of products when a 10th of it would have been enough, then go "Really good stuff from XYZ, thank you for watching". You also are happy to say "There's a better product for 3x the price, but to be honest, this is as good as you need really". You also call out products when they make stupid claims or things they can't achieve.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  17 дней назад +2

      appreciate it mate. The initial reason for doing group tests was for me to see exactly what was B-S and what was good. value has always been important. its an industry saturated with brands all trying to get your business but brands often neglect being competative on price. Or another way to say this, some brands are not able to give value because they are reliant on manufacturer prices. I always try and make 'value' something thats very important if your going to win. A lot of the other tests can fall into preference or insignificant differences. But if we are consistent with rewarding value it provides a much more stable foundation for the rest of the tests to build on. Most of the reviews I see dont even talk about price or attempt to provide you with some other established offerings so you can place the product within the market. also you tube does not like critism. you tube favours hype. positive videos will get higher CPM (more money basically) and attract better relevent advertising through you tube and higher views. I can also make more money reviewing individual products and recomending them all and generate better commission and views. doing tests that loose money like this is not finanically that viable. it really depends on geography as well. UK is a different audience to USA or even european. The brits hate B-S with a passion. where as the american market almost embraces the BS and wants to be sold something. But my biggest challenge nowadays is the algorythms are killing slow long format content. you tube is fighting tiktok to get the teenagers on their smart phones on board. So viral trend content is getting millions of views and niche content like this is getting nothing. Id make more money pretending Ive discovered a secret room under my stairs or doing an "I only ate blue food" for a month junk content. its fast becoming a garbage platform.

    Jon, I have used some of these products, here are my thoughts, if you or your viewers care? As far as US cost here in the States, DIY is a true ceramic coating and Yvan said if used on an area that will never be touched, like the dash, it will last forever, cost $50. 303 recommends to reapply every 4 or 5 weeks, Megs is very reasonable priced @ $25 per gallon, cleans & protects.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  18 дней назад +1

      We dont justify the chemical cost. We just provide it. The performance testing tries to do this. I know what the chemical cost is of that bottle and I can assure you the margin being made is extreme and the value proposition stacks in favour of the brand. Also if this material does not come off there are implications to refinishing if required. It's a good product but it won't sell well in the UK at this price. Same for these sponges they are trying to sell for 30 quid I think the clay towel is 37 quid. UK is different market to USA. It's a Cynical market that is price consciousness. You risk your reputation if you go crazy on the price.

    • @ForensicDetailing

      To make the line up more interesting. To see if the high price is worth it, if there's any performance etc... to compare... This is the very essence of what makes a test interesting. DIY normal dressing would not make the cut, this one is here because it's interesting. Diy detail products are very expensive period. That tiny amount thing applies to all of them. Price can be a relevant detail (or not) depending on if you are a business, on a budget, work horse or if it’s your Sunday pride and joy. Keep doing your thorough methodology John, pecan then pick whats important to them… a lot of other reviews are totally opinion based on the reviewers importance levers which may or may not be similar to the viewers.
    Certainly some of the US detailing based RUclipsrs have lost all relevance in reality, totally opinion based, rule out products ‘just because’ with out trying, push products because thats what they sell and negative to others they don’t and the stuff they push is biased to the expensive on the provisos that money equals quality. They also rubbish products because they don’t like them based on their style… I note Hex lighting is getting a lot of negativity… just because something isn’t for you doesn’t mean you should so vocally try and destroy a company or product.

    When saying the concentrated ones are cheaper and so on, you should also have to take note about the hassle and cost for destilled water and for the seperate bottle you have to buy. Otherwise you do not have a product which you can use and the comparison is not fair.
    Especially, the gyeon one. Nice that it comes with a sprayer, but you cant use it because you have to dilute it.
    But all in all, in my opinion the price should not be part of the overall ranking. Because a higher price does not make a product worse and a low price does not make a bad product better.

      It would depend on your water quality. In some areas you do not want to use tap water because of quality or hardness. Mixing with DI is also the only way to be sure that the product is the same no matter where in the world you live.
      Also if you want to store the diluted product for a longer time it would be better to use distilled water.
