Foxes are such pretty animals. he doesn't seem too fazed by his encounter with the most ferocious animal on the planet, the Jack Russell terrier. If you aren't a fan of little dogs, then steer clear of any JRTs, because you will certainly fall in love.

No, the fox isn't rabid. England has been rabies free since 1902. You can't bring a dog into the UK without it being vaccinated for rabies AND it's quarantined for 6 months. Once you've seen rabies in a wild animal...or a dog...you never forget it.

The name comes from Parson John who bred the original parson john terriers that we now know as Jack ( same as John in old english) Russell terriers. There are many different strains but the one in this video is really a typical Jack Russell. A recreated strain of Jack Russells bred by Brian Plummer are now known as Plummer Terriers..search the info` out.
I think what impressed me was the fox stopped to let the dog get their scent. he fact that they stayed there, didn't offer aggression and kept looking at the camera person makes me think they were right at the foxes den. It was almost a plea bargain from the fox "I'll do anything you want, please let me keep my home."
The JRT wasn’t going to stop following and couldn’t be scared off by a snarl. Our JRT is not aggressive but at the same time knows no fear, will never back down and never gives up, and this one is the same. The only remaining strategy open to the fox was to stand still and face the dog down and wait for it to lose interest.
It’s great however Jack in the fox or cautiously checking each other at it first! Are you doing like this little dance you know I’m not quite sure of each other yet they’re fascinated by each other!
my tail is cropped too, that fox seems mellow, and is a beautiful animal, but the jack russell backing down and alerting the foxes presence was a wise choice.

There's no reason to have that beautiful animal torn to pieces by another dog. Mine still loves to chase squirrels and rabbits....but I always make sure they have a good head start. Tucker killed field mice on 2 occasions and I felt so guilty :(
Two days ago, as I was driving down busy Ogden Avenue on my way home from work, a fox literally galloped across the road from a housing area to the forest preserve on the other side. Unfortunately, I asked a fox expert who told me that it meant the fox probably had rabies.
Thats not to say this fox is sick. He maybe used to both the human and dog, or they are close by where the kits are. He certainly looks healthy. But still, its not a good idea to let them around one another. Jacks are very prey driven, and a fox will put up a fight for sure.
I am a staunch lover of Fox. They are just TOO incredible. I have a Jack Russell/Westie mix and she's ALL about acting a toughie (wayyyy moreso than my Pittie!), but she'd give it verbal hell, just so it'd know she's boss, then want to play. Animals are just TOO awesome. :)

+Lock Gannon this just happened to me today. Fox trotted right past me and my 2 jacks. Not a care in the world. Just sat there and stared right at the camera for a few minutes. I am always in the countryside in the UK and have never witnessed a fox during the day. After watching this clip believe it to be a normal occurrence for foxes to sit and stare.
I once drove home during the evening and a young fox was sitting right in the middle of the street, staring at me. It got up and moved to the nearby berm and I drove past, and it still stared at me the whole time.
Looks like a dog, but acts like cat. The JRT decided it needs to be destroyed by the barking at the end, calling for the owner or the other bigger dogs to come in . . .

fox is sick. a fox would normally run away and avoid a dog. unless its a pet.
It depends. The fox can see the dog will chase it if it runs and it may be somewhat used to humans.
Or the fox decided that the dog is not an immediate danger and can disregard it.
