2:10 Rat was like, "I'm going to die on my shield mate!"
XDDD
We need about 1000 of these Terriers in NSW, Australia atm.
Thats what I would love to organise, ratting parties but would need to train these dogs to only go for the rats and not the other animals
From the videos I've seen you will need to add more zeros to that number.
Make sure the dogs don't go feral!
Using animals to control pests is never a good idea. History has proven this point countless times. Forget the toad case?
@@iqbang9236 It's better doing something about it than just allowing mice/rats to breed. Our government is funding 50m to eradicate these pests with a stronger poison but this is also dangerous to domesticated animals and other wildlife.
Those little guys are having the time of their life. So cute
The most adorably terrifying thing I've ever seen and I love it
What an efficient way to deal with an infestation, you don’t have to use poison and the dogos seem to love it
Sometimes the old ways are the best ways. Some out there will disagree, ie the animal rights lot; however at least its a quick death as opposed to slowly bleeding to death internally by poison.
@@robleary3353 they is a rat in my back garden and my terrier tried to get it
@@unicornd7954 Give him time and he will. Better than poison.
Most small breeds were bred for pest and varmint control. Dachshunds were actually bred for fox hunting
@@mvan8307 Dachshund is badger dog.
What an amazing focus and eagerness to fulfil their task these doggies have.
They are pests so it does have to be done but, man, rip those rats. The dogs look super excited to do this though, must be really stimulating for em
just like we are pests to them

When a terrier dies, his spirit goes to New York City where all his dreams of rat killing are fulfilled.
Didn't knew dogs chase rats 🤣

Right?!?
Blimey, how big do terriers get in the afterlife?
I got an English bull terrier. Whenever we go on walks we take him to spots with mice holes (usually near farms). He goes absolutely bonkers hunting for em.
My heart goes out for the farmers who have to bear the consequences of these tiny devils.
lol ok dude, they are rats not serial killers wtf do you mean devils
@@Robertdbd20 i believe human is not the one who spreads Bubonic Plague.
If that is the case then you are right, they can be called killers or murderers as well for wiping out 75-200 million people in Eurasia and North Africa, peaking in Europe from 1347 to 1351.
@@amitkala7810 who cares about them people dying tho, they died centuries ago
@@amitkala7810 you're acting like they planed and schemed that lmao humans literally created the environment for those diseases to be brought up
@@ccroft yeah but if humans created that situation they also need to make sure thateach and every rat is killed so that the diseases won't spread.
We live on the edge of the woods in Florida. Our pack of 4 dachshunds have lived their best life over the years, dispatching of dozens of rats in the backyard. Any rat that makes it into the house soon realizes his mistake.
My Germ. Shep. especially hates snakes, & shakes them much as the these do! & squirrels better make it up a tree , fast ! Even killed an armadillo! Here in Fla.
Dachshund's are fine dogs! I was lucky enough to grow up with a few. I'll never forget when Dutchie our male met King, my aunt's male German Shepard the first time. Dutchie grabbed King by the throat and would not let loose. Dad had to pry his mouth open. My Aunt said "don't you ever bring that viscous dog back here". We had to laugh! Never took dutch back either ;^) Dutch lived 16 good years! Dutch, Brandy, Dutch 2, Dutchie3 and Chrissy hope I see you in heaven!!!!!
@@drobb4207 great story. Thanks for sharing
I’ve seen giant tough men scream and run like little girls when they see a rat. Meanwhile a 15 pound fluff ball goes head first against rats nearly its size.

Great video! I was an exterminator for six years and rats are an absolute nuisance. Poison, traps, etc are barbaric as well. These dogs working is very effective!
It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog! Good boy!

I love seeing dogs doing what they love to do. They’re so happy and proud. It’s awesome
We have a Yorkie Terrier. He is savage on mice. Loves his job.
This is fascinating. I had no idea they use terriers to do this. Those dogs seem to be enjoying themselves.
West highland terriers were originally bred to hunt foxes, rats, badgers, and other smaller game. In general, they have a natural instinct to stalk and kill rodents. These dogs are absolutely loving this.
It's their job. Bred specifically for it. They can be difficult if not able to work a reasonable amount and get that exercise. They can get yappy and too fiesty, and widdle indoors. They need plenty of energetic out.
@@jackbrax7808 also Sealy ham, Cairn, Scotties , fox terriers, Lakeland, Welsh, I had Australian terriers, originally used to kill rats in mines,.. are great pets

1:06 I feel so bad for this specific rat. it looked so aware like "why are you doing this" whilst looking back at the dog.
mmm rat
👍
This was encouraging to see; how men and dogs ( rat terriers) can work together to fix the problem.
Kiddos to the white Terrier with the red collar and the red leash. Little mercenary! Very successful! Save that one for breeding!
I just imagine a rat all nice and comfy in his burrow, when suddenly the ground around him gets picked up and he tumbles out of the bucket screaming what teh f@@k as he gets picked up by a terrier and shook to death. He never even saw it coming. Hilarious.

Didn't know this was a thing. That's awesome. Watching the dogs shaking with excitement is almost infectious. I wish my dogs were there too. I hope these rats don't carry infections or anything that might harm the dogs though.
Sure it wasn´t a healthy activity for them. Pretty sure most of them got sick after that and died.

I wonder what they did BEFORE vaccines🤔
This is awesome and actually lots of fun for the dogs. These dogs live for this and clearly go ballistic at the job. Love terriers has several in the past! Not allowed to have pets atm. Thanks for sharing!

What a great video. The dogs were awesome to watch! Great little chasers and catchers. Hopefully they are getting rid of the rat problem really enjoyed the video. It was awesome to watch.
My childhood dog was a welsh terrier. Seeing all those terriers at work makes me so happy.
I have a big rottweiler who turned out to love searching for mice aswell.
We have this huge field outside of my house, that nobody uses for anything, but it has lots of holes and mice are living/hiding there.
He never caught a mouse yet but almost everyday he has lots of fun sniffing and searching for the mice and trying to hunt them down, and dig up their holes to eventually get one, one day :)
Nice
These dogs are having the time of their lives lol
They're good little hunters, it's interesting to watch.
The dogs just love working, they really do and for those who says its forced, not a chance. Its a great day out for all.

Nice to see terriers doing what they were originally bred for, quick an easy control of vermin.

I grew up with Boston Terriers, and Scottish Terriers always searching for rats. Now have Chiuahua mix of miniture pincher who loves chasing mice rats
There is something in our humanity that makes us enjoy this. Thanks.
I just stumbled across this video, must say it’s very impressive to watch these dogs totally destroy rats. What kind of dogs are they? Do they hunt rats by instinct or is there any training involved? Have to claim ignorance on this topic as I’ve never seen dogs that hunt rats before, but they sure seem anxious to get after it! Thanks for any information!
The instinct is often bred into the breed, with some dogs being more receptive to ratting than others.
My mum's fat little Jack Russell was a rather lax dog, but as soon as she got to an area with rats, her temperament completely shifted, and would 100% focus on killing these rats.
