You referenced thoroughbred’s video on this. They don’t use a gasket. They use the Motorcraft RTV Silicone Sealant. The bottle that says it’s for 7.3L diesels.
always put the top stud back in before putting cover back on and use it to guide you on , then ya don't have to rotate cover any to find bolt holes and mess up yer RTV , all bolt holes will line up perfect
No leaks as of today. I think that was Gray. I wouldn't be surprised if you can see it in the video somewhere. The garage goes through the typical dirty/clean cycles but sometimes I take a break and clean things up when my mind isn't ready to move forward yet.
I actually prefer to see people contemplating and dealing with setbacks through the repair over some unrealistic 2 min spliced video that doesn't address the realities one faces during automotive repair.
