Definitely will consider your services for any future work on my vehicles. A very committed young man in his trade, Great to see in this day and age. Keep up the excellent work.
The old Peugeot Citroen 1.9 and the 2.0 litre diesel engines could cover mind blowing mileages with simple routine servicing, , mine did 400,000ish before being rear ended, the engine lives on in a van somewhere. Now we have engines with a lifespan of a few years and less than a 100,000 miles before major surgery is required. Where exactly was the great leap forward in technology? ❤
This technology is supposedly progression in my opinion its regression. Loving to videos since I first watched you on Salvage Rebuilds, keep up the good work.
FYI :- the motor home - they need a a HEAVY DUTY commercial clutch in them with a stronger spring pressure - as the weight of the van burns them out - if you fit the standard peugeot boxer clutch 👍
good work gents. been asked to do one but refused because could not justify the cost over the special tools! customer got a bit arsy till i sat down on the laser site and showed the the cost of tools alone for one job.
Have you released part 3 yet? I cant find it. I have a 2018 F-Pace with the 2.0 diesel Ingenium on 60k miles. I have only had a it a year without any issues and I love it. But having seen your video and finding other negative stuff, I am now thinking that I had better change this car soon!
no just get a compression test done if its all ok then change oil every 3k and spend 3k on new chain and what not it ll be good after that. my guess is your going lose about 10k or poss more in real terms if you sell it , ive got 2016 with 65k on it and thats the conclusion ive come to.its a jag there always going to cost doe to look after them properly fact of life. the 6 million doller qustion IS can it be saved if you spend that 3k and check EVERYTHING every 3/5k ? not me i love old volvos its the mrs fpace ,paid 25 for it 3yrs ago with 25k on it ,if sold it now lucky get 10 for it, so figure best spend another 3k and hopefully get another 100k out of it , well thats my loginic in it all . the other thing is would i trust anyone do the job ?? if i dont bite the bullit and do it myself this kid and his crew from what ive seen are the only people id go to. SO he says at the end "would i buy one"? yes i would "
Yea keep seing the inlet manifolds cracking on the forums but also spun main bearings and snapped crankshafts pop up from time to time also , not much coverage on the 3.0d engine even tho they are used in a lot of cars across the range so any content on the xf and those 3.0d I think would be welcome
I got the 2.0 ingenium rear wheel drive and its giving me the absolute fear, if something does go wrong and the repairs run into thousands i think I'll be scrapping it, bought the car thinking i was buying quality not to throw money at it, my 2005 mg zs didn't give this much worry
I'm looking at a 2016 Jaguar XE 2.0 Diesel. Is there anything I should look out for? It's got FSH and 60k miles. Seems ok - but you never know with this new engine. i can put an OBD scanner on it before buying. Any advice is appreciated. Also, your office isn't too far from me, your knowledge and professionalism means you'll probably get some work from me.
Hi love the video , have you took the head of these?? I am removing mine and I have tried a torques and E11 and a ribe one and it seems to not fit perfect and seems loose any idea where to get the correct fitting one? As the Land Rover one online to buy seems very long and I would like a short one as these bolts are tight ? Thanks again
Whats wrong with a slot to time the balance shaft?, the shaft is on a taper pulley so it is infinitely adjustable anyway. I wonder where all the worn metal and bearing material goes..... no wonder why the engines grind themselves to death!. Seeing the way the balance shaft times up is exactly the reason why I will never own a JLR product!. Loving the in depth content, thanks Josh!.
Thanks for the information, daughter has 2ltr ingenium engine 😢.... Drives OK now on new engine (50k dead ) ... But I wonder for how long 😢.... Very bad place to put a timing chain, new engine designers... What were you thinking 😢....
I have seen the video and am fascinated by your performance. I'm from Germany myself and would make my way to you if the chain and balance shaft Need to be replaced. Now I have the problem with the piston rings. What would the costs be for you if the whole thing is replaced? If you still do it at all.
Can you replace the front crankshaft seal without removing the 8mm bolts holding the housing? Might damage mine as trying to remove a seized crankshaft pulley dampener😢
I have an epace 180 awd with 23k on the clock 2018. I think that there is too much crankcase presure with blow back from the dipstick and oil filler when open. Jag say it is normal, is it something you have come accross?
My crankshaft pulley dampener is seized on. Wd40 and heat it came off but leaving behind the aluminium part on the pulley to the crankshaft… any ideas how to get this off without damaging the crankshaft?
Hi mate - how much for a pre-emptive timing chain change on a 2017 disco sport Td4, 73k on the clock so thinking it’s time-ing to chain-ge it? What do you think? Can the chain / runners be upgraded?
Hi, can you tell me from were you buy parts ? I have a Jaguar 2.0 diesel ingenium and very soon I must to change timing chain.I am from Romania and this the price for parts is too expensive. Thanks a lot
What are the repercussions driving with a cracked DPF? Would it be good for the car? DPF shooting out soot, less LP EGR intake because the mesh filter is completely blocked. Less regenerations because of no back pressure so no oil dilution?
Hello, can you tell me please what symptoms gives bad balance sahfts? Because i have a vibration since 80k km, since there i changed the motor mounts (mine where good when i changed it ), i changed the exhaust vibration damper ( this was alsoo good when i changed it) , the vibration is still there at 120k km now. I also changed the motor mounts actuator and the vibration is still there, there is no chain noise. I have the car since 30k km, i made the oil changes every 10k km, the engine sounds good, but that vibration when stationary and around 1300-1400 rpm makes me mad, can be possible my issue is balance shafts?
What causes a really nasty rattle on these engines at the top end we have got 2 in work both same noise haven’t had time to properly get into them yet but wanted to know if you knew of anything
You need to point out which YEAR. The earlier 2.2 diesels were PSA engines and generally very reliable. The 3.0 was also PSA but more Ford and generally ok if you don't drive the car like you stole it.
@@jrvehicleservicesThanks Josh, seen a few advertised with knocking bottom ends at relatively low miles but have been advised it's lack of oil changes, never know out the turbo's, something to think about.
Really, really hard to tell from the video. Half think it sounds like flywheel. Does it change when clutch pressed? As I say, really hard to tell so don't quote me on that!
@@jrvehicleservices thank you for replying It's an auto, 2.0 diesel,, sorry I should have said (I'm not very mechanically minded but trying to learn bits and pieces) You're not alone, 2 garages so far, not sure. One said balance shaft and needs a new engine. The other said something on the exhaust, but it's still there. The engine mounts were changed and this noise appeared soon after. Not sure if coincidence. I've seen two other instances of this on XE forums and one was apparently solved with timing chain (loose timing chain slapping against guides) and the other also timing chain and the owner decided on an engine rebuild. My chains, bearings etc were checked when this started and were reported as ok. Total mystery. Bringing it in again next week to a new garage. Enjoying your videos, you're very well- versed in Ingenium.
i will never buy anything with this chocolate engine in it the costs are horrendous thousands landrover and jag owners needing engines good cars being scraped as uneconomical to repair bring back the 2.2L it was a good engine in the 190hp at least you can fix it without going bankrupt
What an absolute faff! Not content with making some of the most unreliable engines in the history of cars, they have to make them the most difficult to repair when they break down, with ridiculous regularity. Why on earth would anyone buy them??
Definitely will consider your services for any future work on my vehicles. A very committed young man in his trade, Great to see in this day and age. Keep up the excellent work.
Thank you!
Great stuff Josh. I'm impressed with the design of these engines and even more impressed at the quality of the work you do to keep them running.
Wellseal, wonderful stuff with a wonderful smell. I was using it on bike engines in the 1960’s !!

Now we have engines with a lifespan of a few years and less than a 100,000 miles before major surgery is required. Where exactly was the great leap forward in technology? ❤
Yep, not exactly good for the environment to have engines last only 1/4 the mileage life of old engines….
That is exactly the type of thing I mean, those engines were awesome!
It's deliberate. These companies are controlled by the WEF and this is part of the plan to make car ownership unaffordable for normal people.
Cracking few videos to watch, finally good content to watch for ingenium engines
This technology is supposedly progression in my opinion its regression. Loving to videos since I first watched you on Salvage Rebuilds, keep up the good work.
Omg those engines look like nightmares
Good video lads a lot of work there doing the balance shafts
Quite a bit yes! Not too bad if doing chains already
I admire your expertise 😊
I just found your channel! You guys replaced my time Ng belt on my black 2007 Freelander 2 back in 2020 ish...
PSA 2.0 HDI 8 valve. One of the best diesel engines ever made. Modern engines that chase the ultimate in efficiency, fail prematurely.
FYI :- the motor home - they need a a HEAVY DUTY commercial clutch in them with a stronger spring pressure - as the weight of the van burns them out - if you fit the standard peugeot boxer clutch 👍
Great video again, just saying from North of Newcastle 👍🇬🇧🍺
Great to see Wellseal in use here. Been using it for years, brilliant stuff.
not familiar with wellseal here in the USA. is that similar to permatex aviation 300 ?
It's awesome stuff
Possibly. It's basically a form of Shellac but Rolls Royce developed it. 1 tin lasts forever.
Very clever people 👏👏👏
Great video, great job. These JLR Ingenium engines are made of cheese! I can see why JLR so keen to get away from their terrible combustion engines 😂

Cheers. We bought the genuine tools as they weren't available from Laser at the time!
“A bit of a faff” TIL. I’m fighting with a dropped balance shaft that’s stuck in there myself.

Not cheap to buy though!
What could go wrong? Absolutely everything.
Where is more detailed video of timing chain replacement? I was watching it couple days before and now I cant find it anymore.
Episode 3..
Hi, great informative vids, what year did JLR sort out these issues with the Ingenium Engine or are they still unreliable ?
24:00 you seem to have 2 gaskets there. Did you put sealant between them, too?
I didn't explain this well enough. We put Wellseal between all layers of the gasket
Do you think it's worth getting the balance shaft done as a precaution, if the timing chain is being done anyway?
Is it possible to get crank timing on wrong stroke? IE: compression or exhaust stroke.
Do we need to take the complete engine out, if we need to change balance shafts??

You'd think so but they tend to try and regen more. They also can block and then cause turbo damage
Do the Ingenium 3.0L petrol & diesel engines suffer from the same problems as the 2.0L?
We haven't seen any yet but from what the dealer boys say they are pretty good engines!
where did you get the seal installer, its not available anywhere

where to get that engine balancer tool?
whats the average cost for all this work
