We buy a high mileage Ingenium engine Jaguar after all the bad press, is it going to be worth it? We also strip down a 30k mile Ford Focus with premature gearbox issues. 🎵 Music licensed from Lickd. Ingenium Checks
Просмотров 12 тыс.8 месяцев назад
We show you what checks we do before commencing a chain or a big repair on the Ingenium based engine. We have caught a few out now that simply weren't worth doing a chain on as the engine was nearly shot anyway. None of this is in the official Land Rover process before commencing a chain repair.
Ingenium part 3. DPFs, chains, turbos. Are they one to avoid?

In this video we discuss the repairs we carry out weekly on the Land Rover Ingenium engine. This one is a little random as it is judt random clips we have filmed but here's my thoughts on these engines. #cars #garage #repair #workshop #carrepair #kent #landrover #jaguar #cambelt #timingbelt #timingchain #ingenium

The internet is full of info on the 2.0 engine but what about the 6 cylinder diesel 3.0 (D250 / D300) engines in the new defender. I can't find any info on where they came from or if they are reliable or not?
What a palaver.
I've been considering a 2017 range rover evoque hse awd 40 k miles but from what ive heard and seen am i correct in saying to keep well away?? sounds like its totally unreliable, oil leaks etc and always in the garage and very expensive to repair
My Freelander 2 140k now and still getting 36.5 mpg, don't get me wrong you still need a bag of spanner's as with most older Land Rovers, but as with any high mileage car as long as you follow a strict maintenance regime they are great, I can afford a new car but until I get a catastrophic failure, I'll keep this great car on the road....ingenium...built in Wolverhampton by Brummie Robots, and using some of the worst components money can buy... JLR's fixes have involved in just fitting more expensive components from the Range Rover parts list, plus it's also a poor design..mind you a lot of engine manufacturers including Ford (ecoboost) and Peugeot (PureTech) whoo's engines were always bomb proof.
Excellent video! Are you against chiptuning the P200? And what do you think about an EGR delete? Cheers!
I only came here to see how to properly remove the timing cover without bending it out of shape and this video just skips right past that part 😂
they used Volvo engine
I would like to express my appreciation for the exceptional service I received from the team. I recently had my timing chain and turbo replaced, and the workmanship was outstanding. I extend my gratitude to Josh and the entire team for their professionalism and expertise. Thank you, GOD Bless. David
Ingenium the worst engine since their last worst engines. 1.8 In the Freelancer head gasket blower. V6 crank snapper. Etc the list is growing.
was looking for a good thing to be said for these buckets of shit........but no
FYI, im in charge of a fleet of a dozen 2.0 ecoblue transits and all have used the correct oil. My first belt i replaced had 119k miles on it and there wasnt a single flake of belt in the oil pick up nor was there any belt cracking. Correct oil is the key 100%
Surely it’s not beyond the bounds of possibility that they could design and build a decent, powerful, reliable engine . ?Same goes for Ford with the wet belt. Quality seems to be going in reverse.
“A bit of a faff” TIL. I’m fighting with a dropped balance shaft that’s stuck in there myself.
Crap, jaguar should be ashamed of building such a pile of crap.
Ever had a permanent/active P0341-92 code and delayed start AFTER replacing balance shafts, chains, tensioners, vvt sprocket etc with genuine Jag parts but only does it when warm? Starts on the button when cold and no codes
@@LeeAlison-e2l camshaft pick up has moved probably. What year?
@@jrvehicleservices I had read about that to be honest. 2019 E-Pace. I tried removing the camshaft sensor and moving the pickup but it didnt seem to want to budge so ruled it out. Done some more testing on it today and it's so sporadic.....it can sit there running for 30 mins warm no code at all. Stop it, restart it and the code returns straight away. Then you stop it then try and start it again and it's got the long crank. Long crank will stay until you clear the code then it starts fine until the next time the code appears. I've got in my head it maybe a faulty VVT sprocket. When the code appears the exhaust camshaft adjustment percentage drops to zero however I don't know if this is the cause or the effect....
Hello dear friend! On the engenium diesel 2.0, I change the balance of the shafts myself, but how do I replace the shafts in which the shafts rotate? Maybe by removing the crankcase tray from below?
That Jag owner is gonna be dry after all that work I tell ya
whats the average cost for all this work
rr and jlr freaking load of shit
I wouldn't touch one of these 🙂 Question - what does that stupid "tooling" cost?
Great bit at the end - Is that REALLY your one?!
10 a month sums it up.
Yeah do what I did after selling my Defender TD5, now that was a great engine, sold it for a small profit and wouldn’t think about a new Land Robber instead I went out and bought a Toyota Land Cruiser!
How badly designed. Designed to fail and require hours to service
At 300,000 on my 2011 landcruiser d4d 3.0. Absolutely nothing has broken on the whole car. Just replace timing belts every 60k miles, a 100 quid job that takes me a hour.
Yes. Crap engine
The ingenium engines are fine if they're used properly. Change the oil every 10-12k. I had an xf 2.0d from new and did 140k. We went to southern Italy 4 x times with 2 kids and fully loaded. Car never missed a beat, great car. 👍
If you service every 10-12k amd ignore the 20k/2 year service interval, then the ingenium engines are good. I had a 2016 xf from new and did 140k with zero issues. Went to southern Italy 4 times, fully loaded with wife & 2 kids. It ran like a dream. I only ever had to replace consumables on it. I found it an excellent car. Traded it in for an fpace 3.0 .
The secret, quite simply, is to change engine oil every 10,000 km. As I was told in the Jaguar workshop. There is no such thing as doing an oil change every 30000 km unless one wants to hurt oneself. For the rest, if used correctly, it is an excellent engine, it consumes little, is not noisy and has a great torque
Why do people spend tens of thousands on these??? Buy a Lexus NX and never suffer again.....
Now Jaguar has stopped making the E Pace, the dealers are full of S/H R Paces at Mickey Mouse money. I had two E Paces one after the other. The first one was from new when it first came out, chopped it in at 30k and got a 6 month old demo car, kept that for 3 years again at around 35k. They were both my private vehicles. Had some warranty niggles with the first one, but the second one was sweet ! Love to see the F Pace’s engine at that mileage Josh. 👍
Long loop egr. Always good.
Still not as bad as the 6.0 ford diesel
Hello, I have a problem with my Jaguar xf 2016 2.0 l diesel engine. the engine runs but does not start. The diagnostic tool shows left and right front cameras not working. Is it possible that this is the cause of the problem? THANKS
Gimme an AJ16 any day. Absolutely bulletproof engines. And I stand by that. If you disagree, discuss
I'm sorry everyone but the 1.9 litre PSA diesel you found in old Citroëns and Peugeots and the Rover R8 200/400 (218, 418) were the BEST diesel engine EVER.... and then that got topped by the HDi. PSA knows how to do diesel, end of.
Xud was the one to have 👌
@@crimsonsunshine264 Hdi better.
Xud.
Not really a land rover is it.
Hello, is it possible to swap 204dtd from a manual car to one with auto gearbox? Can’t find info online. Thanks
and how's the 3L V6 JLR petrol engine?
What a load of shite,
is there actually an engine in the middle of that? looks like it belongs in a DeLorean 🤣🤣
What an over complex design. The old TD5 was pretty reliable, and long lived, as is the 2.2 in the FL2. I have three FL2's with the 2.2 diesel, the 2013 car is at 193500 miles. I hear the blocks shrink on the Ingenium engines, and pistons collapse. A good presentation Josh, you will go far in life, one suspects.
I have a 1969 SERIES 2 Landy. It has leaks, it farts and whistles it's running. It's an old Landy and it's fantastic. If my new Land rover did this I'd be livid. New or a couple of years old, NO half decently built vehicle/ product would do this. However it's not Land Rovers ,or any other manufacturers, fault though. They are merrily producing thousands of rubbish cars a day. Why? Because WE keep buying these carbuncles. WE are the the ones at fault. We complain on RUclips or Facebook about this issue but, be honest, we do nothing about it. Nowt.
I admire your expertise 😊
The balance test using starter current is super interesting. I assumed that had to be derived from crank acceleration (crank signal)
Merci pour votre video.svp a quoi sert les deux couvercles en plastique jaune ?
Change oil at 6k problem solved
from what i have seen i have to agree its a load of crap
Jaguar LR can stick their stupid products - I am sticking with BMW !
I wouldn't have a landrover if came free with my kellogg cornflake
Where you gone
