I made them and they were fantastic with homestead honey and one with homemade goat cheese. So cool to have much of the resources right on our own land. Thanks for the upload Bev!
the more laqnd the better..we do our half acre because thatws all the land we have..but if you are purchasing..try and look down the road to see what future need might be. It takes 4.4 acres per person to be truly self sustainable..and once you start homesteading..you WILL want to be self sustainable..and to be pulled up short due to lack of land can be very frustrating. But a half acre is better than and apartment balcony..So I count my blessings! THANK YOU!
Seriously, you do things joyfully and with a grace many others do not. My family had been city bound for generations and we have made uo our minds that we are ready for a change. And we like what we see of your small homestead and will be looking for one of our own. Thanks you for sharing and for replying.
12 years ago!!!!! You’ve been doing this for such a Long long time!!! I never knew any Canadians on RUclips that long ago! If I had found you way back then I would have been watching you all this time! ❤️🥰🇨🇦🙏🏻🍁
Those look wonderful! My mom tried to make some when I was a kid (long time ago). They were like hockey pucks. We put them out in the yard for the birds. We watched them out the window all winter, lol... Nothing could eat them. They are probably still there. lol.
I like cottage cheese on my bagels too! When my stomach is not feeling quite right, a bagel with cottage cheese and drizzled honey works well. You're awesome, MrsVolfie! I think I might just try making bagels now!
I'm also someone who wants to learn by hand first. I don't know that I'll move to machinery until it's necessary. I really appreciate that about your content.
This is just fabulous! I wanted to try to make bagels but was afraid to try. You took the fear away and I'm going to do it. Years a friend brought me a peanut butter bagel and I was over the moon. I'm going to try. Thank you Yvonne
hi bev just wanted to say I'm not feeling so good so I've been watching your videos all the way through for the last day or so, you really do cheer me up and give me the impetus to get up and try to do as much as you do regardless how I feel. you're a true star, thank you for brightening my days :)
I'm trying to do a bit at a time, it's so hard to know when to stop without causing days of pain. I get so into your videos that it has me sitting and smiling with you often
You are awesome. Like everyone said, you made this look soooo easy. thanks for helping to feed my bagel addiction. I haven't had bagels in a long time bc of the cost of bagels. Thanks again.
They look amazing. I usually cut the holes in the middle out with a cookie cutter and deep fry the smaller balls as little donuts with cinnamon sugar for the kids. I will definitely try the molasses and the onion and honey bagels the next time I make bagels. We love bagels for Sunday mornings and I am about to use the last which is in my freezer.
I love to watch you trying new things, if I was younger or alot younger I would try the things you show, but like you I have really bad back problems and cant do a lot of things I used to do. Those bagels look soooooo good I will have to try them. Rita
My oldest son is coming up for two weeks to help with yard work and some constructionprojects...I will be making a bunch of these and kaisres for his lunches and breakfasts!
For years and years I was known as the pickle lady or I have a bird called Freckles so you all decide, I dont do pictures I was shocked that I had someone actually answer me. Rita
you have no idea how much it means to me that someone takes the time to answer, I am by myself and I do have a bird but she doesnt talk, she screeches a lot but I'd be lost without her. You have such a nice place, it would be so nice to be in a place like that.
I would make smaller bagels..like half size if you were going to do it in a toaster oven and turn the heat down..boil them a little longer maybe 5-7 minutes a side..that way you only needs brown them up in the toaster oven? Let me know how this works!
Just found this video and I love it! I buy my bagels at a bagel shop. I going to try and make some pumpernickel bagels my favorite. Thank you for all your videos. I have been a lurker of yours for many years. Hope to make it to one of your live videos soon. Again thank you!
That looks so great!! You make it look so easy!!!! I will have to try to do this for my Sister...She loves loves Bagels!! Thank You and I will let you know if she likes them.!
Thank you for sharing your kitchen with me, I have been binging on your videos for hours, lol. I had never made bagels but thought you made it look so easy why not, lol. I got out my apron and within 2 hours had 16 bagels made, 4 different types. My honey will be ever so glad when he gets home. Awesomeness in abundance.
Hi Bev I decided to try to make them and WOW are they good...I will never buy bagels again. Thank you for leading the way. I love this journey of discovering that I can do things at home that turn out better and healthier than store-bought!
Mmmm look so good gotts to try them w/dill pickles and cottage cheese...I always have a smile when I watch ur videos, even when I'm down I leave ur videos smiling...Thank you so much.
thank you once again for this! My kids were so excited to learn that their mom had won something! I am waiting for a new camera and will post a vid when it arrives.
This is how I learned bread making. I put my hands in the dough and learned what textures where and what was the right and wrong textures and what made tough, chewy and soft breads. Never used a machine. Always since day one used Liza hands to knead. I have a secret jalapeño cheddar cheese bread people ask for each holiday and sour dough too.
Hacienda Homestead I make all our bread as well, by hand. Start by grinding my own flour, from our wheat we grow. Would love your recipe, only Bev's friends will see it 😉
NO THANKS!! I used to work in a bakery..now I just like serving things up to you all! My subscribers are WHY I keep getting up every day ..you make it fun to share my life!
You've made it look so easy. I'll be making up a batch this week now that I know it's pretty simple to do. Thanks for sharing your homestead with us all. God bless ya!
gave this a try using robin hood flour :( they browned up nicely but are somewhat heavy and did not cook compleatly so had to flip them and cook some more, fingers crossed they are ok. you say boil them for a minute but in text longer so now I'm wondering if I did something wrong by boiling them one minute on each side.
It is a pleasure to be able to share my discoveries!
So much easier than I had thought..no more store bought bagels!
I am glad you like it!
Very Easy! and so versatile..cinnamon raisin, blueberry lemon..only limited by your imagination!
I made them and they were fantastic with homestead honey and one with homemade goat cheese. So cool to have much of the resources right on our own land. Thanks for the upload Bev!
