Sadly skars quality control is not great. As someone who have gotten 2 8s. One with loose push terminals that fell apart. Then on the other one i pulled the gasket off to trace it for the box i was building the basket lip looked like someone drug it across the ground. Then i inspected it more, it had bad coil rub. How long ago was that? I see lots of people complaining 2 years ago about skar but my recent interactions (October 2021) with them have been outstanding. My order went through and shipped immediately, the next day a skar employee called my cell and asked some questions about the setup I was putting together as I ordered 2 dvc 2ohm 15s and an amp rated for 1ohm at the same rms as the subs require. He enlightened me to the fact that I can only wire my 4ohm subs to 2ohm resistance and that they would be receiving much less power than if I ordered the 2ohm dvc 15s and wired them to 1ohm. He reviewed some options to power my subs more correctly and in the end we decided to cancel my order and get the same exact svr 15s but with the 4ohm configuration this time. Subs shipped the next days, subs arrived 3 days later. Don't have a box yet but I have very precisely anylized the sub and see no issues at all they are beautiful and solid stitching everywhere. Any series (jx,hd,etc.) jl audio class d mono block that matches the skars rms watts . You might have to sell one of limbs to afford it in other words they are pricey ecspecially for the wattage youll need . another one Zapco ! It has to really old school phoenix gold ( white ones with fan built in) soundstream blue wonder , the red PPI hcca amps . Rememeber it has to be old . I know reccomending old amps is not ideal but.. thats when they were still built in the usa and amps were really built to last like forever . heres a list of amps (or any car audio made from them) I personally would NOT buy Boss, hifonics , crunch, planet audio, dual, unfortunately blaupunkt theres plenty more but im sure you know what to look for . If all else fails buy a Skar amp. They are solid and probably the best bang for your buck

@@Kpaceguy Really depends on the type of music you listen to, lows willl make port noise cause that metal grill is restricting free air movement. My home powered subs had metal grills too, and made a chuffing sound till I removed them. The idea of them is nice, but it has it's downsides also.
@@Kpaceguy Don't take them off Kpaceguy. They are fine. They don't produce port noise either. Port noise is caused by the turbulent flow of air throughout the port due to high air velocity not by the grill restricting airflow. A grill can restrict airflow though which can and will alter the tune of an enclosure if not compensated for. But judging by the looks at the size of that port and how many of these enclosures Skar has mass produced, I'm sure they've taken that into account. You can however invite over a friend take the grill off and play it for you both ways not telling you which time the port is on or has been taken off. You can do it yourself, but you'll be more assured if you do a blind test. No offense Joe K but that "chuffing" sound that you've read about that's supposedly coming from your home speaker with a... metal port grill wouldn't sound like chuffing but more like a tinge sound. Thanks bro, never heard of wolfram Deffinetly adding this to my list.
Skar audio needs to get their shit together when it comes to shipping. I had an EVL 18 and it came in with the box so flappy I had to get a new enclosure and then at the same time it had a pretty deep dent in the cone too
Paul Donnelly Jr ya
I agree. Ordered a Skar 4500.1D amp and the box was beat to shit and had a decent sized hole in it. Luckily the amp looks unscathed!
Drill it out with an easy out
For one, Skar has nothing to do with what happens to a package during transit. Skar isn't a shipping company. Secondly, I ordered 2 SDR 10s and they couldn't have been packaged any better. Not exactly sure why people have to attack companies for no reason
@@beardedforlife3740 they should have better customer service no doubt about it it took me 4 months to get anything done about my 2 EVL 12s that came completely destroyed. Just overall they need improvement in the customer service area
Someone had that sub mounted backwards and it got dropped and broke.. Check the magnet stack for blunt force skar when you get the sub back..
You should power those up with a Rockford Fosgate 2500.1 power series, for sure you will be very happy a bit pricey but it's worth the extra cash for a quality amp that I know you'll be happy with.
I appreciate the recommendation
+1 on Rockford amp. Some of the best amps out there 🤘
I can co sign to this amp..I have 1 on 2 DD 700 series(the newer ones) in a 5.75 cubic ft ported enclosure & they slam hard!

@@Kpaceguy bro trust me Skar amps don't F around. I wish you could hear my 350 watts Skar amp. 😆
@@deondiggs61 Sounds sweet! Lol
The Skar RP series amps are the best amps I've been able to find that are cheap and still work well. They have _functional_ (looking at you Tarramps 👀) protection circuits, metal knobs that aren't flimsy (Tarramps 👀👀), simplistic but nice looking design, bass knobs included (Tarramps! 👀 👀 👀), And do a little bit over rated power, all for a very cheap price. TLDR: theyre good, well rounded amps that put out power for super cheap!
Same thing here i ordered the 8s package i cant believe they worked for like ten mins n all blew
Did you make sure it wasn't user error? If you tried to full tilt it before breaking them in then that could cause problems
Same thing happened to me 3 times in a row and then they started ignoring my emails so my best advice would be to go with another brand 100%. The amps and subs from skar are great but the customer service and getting them to refund anything is a huge pain in the ass
Hope they sound good as they look

Could I ask where you live? I live in arkansas, I just wonder if they prioritize their customers for some reason. That would be terrible
Maybe I got away clean because my issues were before the subs arrived.
I will mention tho that throughout the last few weeks as a noob to car audio i made a lot of mistakes in trying to hook them up. The skar people kept in touch with me with advice and wiring diagrams everytime I emailed them, however as helpful as they were; they didn't seem super happy to help me the same way they did when I first made my order.
I hope you didnt throw that sub away, a cheap recone will make it like new again

Rp-1500 isn't enough RMS power to run both of those effectively. I'm running the Crescendo 2500.1. Its perfect. But I'm leaving Skar. American Bass is getting a new customer soon!
Sorry. That blows. Seen lots of problems and complaints w Skar. Been on Wolfram/DS18 tangent. Happy w those brands.
They should package them better when they send them out because they everyone knows how rough things get are when they get transported.
Will they make you return the damaged subwoofer?
The usually do but that didn't they let me keep both
I ordered 5 items from Skar audio and 3 of the 5 had damage to the item and the 4th got to my door extremely beat up as if someone let a couple teens go at it with small bags however that package contained my amp wiring kit along with my additional 10 gage speaker wire. Fortunately that wasn't damaged. I didn't feel like sending back my items and waiting for Skar to resend me new items. Like he said in the video, it wasn't Skars fault but the specific people that handled the merchandise during the shipping process. I purchased from Skar before and their customer service is very good and takes these type of issues serious and does their very best to satisfy the customer. Lastly, I own this exact box and for lack of better words it really pounds your vehicle violently.

Any series (jx,hd,etc.) jl audio class d mono block that matches the skars rms watts . You might have to sell one of limbs to afford it in other words they are pricey ecspecially for the wattage youll need . another one Zapco ! Ive never owned a zapco mono but have had a 4 channel and it best amp ive ever owned . Memphis or Alpine are the only 2 mainstream brands i would go for . if you wanna go used . It has to really old school phoenix gold ( white ones with fan built in) soundstream blue wonder , the red PPI hcca amps . Rememeber it has to be old . I know reccomending old amps is not ideal but.. thats when they were still built in the usa and amps were really built to last like forever . heres a list of amps (or any car audio made from them)
I personally would NOT buy
Boss, hifonics , crunch, planet audio, dual, unfortunately blaupunkt theres plenty more but im sure you know what to look for . If all else fails buy a Skar amp. They are solid and probably the best bang for your buck

That metal grill, will cause port noise and those baskets suck, they break all the time,
Guess we'll have to take the grill off then
@@Kpaceguy Really depends on the type of music you listen to, lows willl make port noise cause that metal grill is restricting free air movement.
My home powered subs had metal grills too, and made a chuffing sound till I removed them. The idea of them is nice, but it has it's downsides also.
@@Kpaceguy mine does just fine,I have no complaints so far
You probably just got a crappy home sub if they put metal mesh over the port?? for a home sub?? I have a couple acquaintances who own EVL's and they don't complain of their baskets breaking "all the time" either but then again, they're not dropping them off the roofs of their houses.
