- Hey friends! Wow, the last couple of weeks have been so busy. I've been to Florida, back home to Kentucky, back to Atlanta, Georgia, spent a few days in Chattanooga, TN, and after all of that, I drove to New York City, NY with my daughter Laura for her spring break. Phew!
I'm back home in Kentucky and finally had the chance to get this video up. In this video you'll come antiquing with me at a sweet little antique shop in Douglas, Georgia called Town Square Antiques. This was a great shop and I really enjoy spending an afternoon there. I'm also sharing my antique haul with you in this video. I bought a few vintage home decor items I'm really excited to add to my home.

I'm from Michigan !! We live in a lake about the middle of the state, a lake house was our dream. So I have been appreciating your cabin/camp theme in decorating your family room. I love thrifting too, and actually have a booth in a store in our small town. So often you buy just what I would!! ❤ We have done houseboat vacations on Lake Cumberland. Such a beautiful area
I went antiquing today in Sweetwater and finally scored some things I'd been looking for, of course there was so much more I wanted, and 2 more stores i didn't make it to, so I'll be going back soon😉😁 There were so many beautiful stained & crazed pieces!!!🤯 They had a lot of the ducks in the store i was in. I love the art pieces you bought, great price too. Lol Barney was a character! I always watched Andy Gtiffith with my grandma. Enjoyed seeing you today, missed you😊

Ahhh Florida was awesome😁 We ended up stayed 9 days lol.. didn't want to leave that precious little girl🥹 I think we're going meet them half way in a couple wks just for a weekend, Its hard not seeing her as I'm sure you understand! How was NY?? Looked like you had a blast! It would be awesome to meet up sometime, just give me a cou days notice, my car engine blew a couple months ago so i have to get a driver but its usually no problem. Good to hear from you😊

Hi Melissa I would have bought the blueberry plate too, even if it was not old..it was unique. I especially love the plaid pattern...so pretty for spring amd summer. The only time we go to antique stores, for some reason, is when we are in Kentucky. We love Cumberland and Barren River state resort parks, and there are tons of antique stores near each of them. The antique store you went in (I think you said in SC) was reasonably priced and I saw so many things I liked. I loved your little strawberry creamer. I also would have picked up the salt and pepper in the little tray. I was saying to myself will she pick up the equestrian prints. You might be surprised...your granddaughter might like the simple frames. They would be cute spray painted an off white or the color of the pink that is in them . I think she will really love them. A little girl who sits beside us in church competes in horse riding and all that goes with it. We had a beautiful horse picture done on a buttery light brown leather. We decided she needed it more than we did and gifted it to her. She loved it. I loved that you took that picture of Barney. I loved the Mayberry tv show also. I envy your love of driving by yourself. I like being the passenger.😂😂😂😂 I did not even like driving thirty minutes away to go to the dentist today. 😢 I almost got hit too.

That’s true about the frames. I haven’t had a chance to ask her about them. If I can I’ll share what I end up doing with them!

Driving has its perks though. My husband rarely travels with me and I remember a couple years ago when my youngest daughter had left for college and I still wanted to go visit my son in Florida but I had never ever traveled that far by myself. I felt vulnerable and nervous but I pushed past my fears (I do remember struggling mentally on that trip and feeling nervous sipping at hotels and places I had never been before) and now I drive all over creation my myself! I’ll actually pretty tired of the car at the moment. Glad to be home for a bit!
Also, I love the story of the horse painting and the little girl! That’s so sweet! Where did you find the painting on leather?
@@Melissa.Ringstaff Hi Melissa I wrote back and it disappeared . I got it at an estate sale for five dollars. When I was young my dad had a friend who had a farm and horses. Where we live now on five acres there use to be eleven acres beside us with a barn and a horse…we loved that horse but can not remember it’s name now. Eventually the lady sold the property and it’s a housing development . The neighbors are not southern and very picky about what we do. If we are a day late on cutting grass we hear about it. It is aggravating. We are not part of their development and sometimes we remind them 🤣🤣🤣.
I do need to do more driving. I have never found it relaxing. Luckily, my husband does like to visit my family . I am not scared of my driving as much as I am about others. My dad was overprotective of my sis and me. She is the same way. My younger brother was not overprotected.

Ps. on Etsy …not eBay but they sure are not the five dollar price we paid for the horse art. Our estate sales are just priced well …especially if they know you are a customer for life… we need to stop. Sorry..feel like I am talking with someone I know. Anyhow , Etsy has some but they are so high. One was 950. I will tell you a funny story. One of my husband’s customers came here to visit after he was sick or something. The lady said omg your house is nice. I expected it to look like a hoarder’s house..lol🙀🙀🙀 This house used to be a fishing cottage for hunters and fishermen. It was probably built in a few days. It has one closet!!! Luckily it has an attic, but small thirteen hundred foot home…I just rotate my stuff. I don’t think it looks like a hoarder ‘s house. Ok, sorry soo long of comments. You all work hard and people will say nice things…I always want to say thanks for all the stuff you show and what is my favorite.
Where do you get your energy? Love the duck...almost bought one today. Ducks can be addictive...have three and I keeping looking after I say enough already...ha!

@@Melissa.Ringstaff Ducks can be VERY expensive.I haven't paid over $25 for mine. I did get a large Canadian Goose decoy that I have sitting in a dough bowl on my dining table.That was a splurge at $100. I think 2 of mine are signed. Hey...I'm a duck hunter...that just hit me. I wish I knew how to send photos of mine to you.Lord bless you !

Yes! Especially when I was a young mom, I furnished my house and clothes my kids almost exclusively with yard sales. My mom and dad live in a nice area south of Atlanta (near Peachtree City) where all the Delta pilots and employees lived and I would find the nicest things!
Was that the only antique type store in Douglas? My friend and I are planning a trip there in a couple of weeks just for a day trip. Will be driving from N Florida area.
There is a store just about across the street named The Painted Lady, and there is another place on a back road in Douglas named The Dusty Diamond. Plus there is one between Pearson and Douglas that is call 441 Vintage Junque Market.
Yes I came to say that there were some others but I only had time to visit the one. Maybe I’ll get a chance next time I’m in South Georgia! If you go to Town Square Antiques let me know! It was a great shop!

Town Square Antique Mall is owned by my sweet friend. It is constantly being updated by the vendors! Always some new treasures to find! The one on 441 is only open when they host their markets. Lots of great finds there. The Painted Lady is smaller than Town Square but still has great finds. The Dusty Diamond is only open on certain days because they are always traveling hunting vintage items. Rosa's is on the northside of town around the corner from the Dusty.
@@Melissa.Ringstaff I was raised in Pearson, GA. But I live in Hiram Ga now. I have a small booth here and love to go junkin all over. Thanks for your video s, content and bravery being on RUclips is a very scary place. I was so happy to see a small town featured Douglas doesn't get highlighted much.
