🤣😂🤣😂 I have a different scenario but I’m about to cut something off also. This method usually works, but I had to cut a slit at the top then use a flat head.
I got in too much of a hurry (my impatience is almost always the culprit!) and stripped out a set screw in the hand-wheel pulley on one of my vintage sewing machines. This video saved my bacon! Thanks!
Ordered a new handle that was $65 and then found this video a minute later. Took me longer to round up the tools than it took to get the set screw out. Cancelled my order five minutes after placing it. I really appreciate you sharing your technique!
The miniscule recessed allen screw in the cold lever of the mixer tap had corroded enough to stick. Trying to turn it using the allen key was impossible. This tip has just saved us a massive plumber's bill and ripping the kitchen sink out. Thank you so much ❤
I can't believe how easily this worked. I was just about to drill out the set screw in the axle collar for my go-kart, when I Googled how to remove a stripped head set screw and came across your video. Drilling would have been a disaster I'm sure. This took less than a minute and the set screw came out easy. Thanks so very much. You're a genius.
Was in the middle of drilling through when I took a break and found this video. Then tried it and was able to take out the screw after 2 weeks of trying.
This saved a part of my 3d printer I had no clue how to replace so best case you saved me a long search and wait and worst case you saved my printer. Thank you!
You just saved my bathroom from having to tear out a wiggly towel bar! Was able to extract my stripped set screw w/ the star bit just like you said. Thanks man!!
Glad it helps, for years I was scratching my head trying to figure out how to get these round it out Allen screws. This method has gotten me out of a lot of problems👍
Always Always Always apply anti seize to set screws before threading them into their mating threaded hole to avoid the problem in the first place. When a screw thread meets the resistance of the shaft it goes up against, the clearance necessary for the thread to be able to mesh with the threads in the hole is taken up setting up a potential gaulling situation upon removal. A film of anti seize between the threads is your best hedge against this when the time comes to loosen the threads. Anti seize also provides protection from moisture in the atmosphere causing corrosion of the threads over time says the old machine shop instructor.
@@jpablo700any grease is better than nothing if there is a chance of corrosion or galling , however anti seize has additives that the grease won’t have. A small can of anti seize will last most people a lifetime because you do not need to paint the threads because as they mate the anti seize is carried by the thread into the space between them……..it’s like the old Brylcream ad…..”A little dab will do ya.”
I was on the verge of cutting my kitchen faucet off but luckily found your video. It took me 20 seconds to get that thing out. Thank you so much.

Reckon this will work on a smallish Allen key screw? On a wheel for a brake disc???

worked wonders for me and my kitchen sink! Truly a lifesaver!!

Wow! Great solution. Worked like a charm to remove a stripped allen screw from a mass spec turbo pump!
Thank you so much, you saved my embroidery machine. Moving this screw means I don’t have a 15 needle 300 pound paperweight.
That star key method worked like a charm! Thanks man i thought I'd never get it out.

I watch these videos doubting it'll work for me but it worked an absolute treat so thank you
This worked great x2 on larger furniture screws. Thanks!
You just saved my bathroom from having to tear out a wiggly towel bar! Was able to extract my stripped set screw w/ the star bit just like you said. Thanks man!!
Wow I was struggling with exactly the same project today. This video saved the day!
Did this and it worked! Cheers!
Life saver! Thank you 🙏🏼

Fuck I love you 😘. Life saver. Common sense in hindsight but dam am I relieved
I like how you also used the ratchet as a hammer.
Let’s face it, the star of the show is always the ratchet hammer.
You are a lifesaver!
Nice tip,it really will get you out of a jam!In my opinion, and I grew up on the poor side of town,we didn't use ratchets for hammers.
Thank you, good Sir!!! This worked too good for me. God bless.
I've heard that the glue-like product called TANK BOND would also be helpful in this type of setting.
Tiny hex screw on a pistol sight stripped.
Husky star drive hand kit.
By hand nic and easy with pressure
DID THE TRICK
Where can I get a hammer like this?

Thanks! Will silicone faucet grease work for a set screw on a shower handle?
