Great work on the safety side Zeb. From what I have observed in the real world and on video something has happened in the last few years with basic gun safety with younger blokes. Once that firing pjn hits the primer it is milliseconds to potential disaster if the discharge was unintended.
As Hunters we cant afford these accidents as a group or as being a individual present or involved.

Luckily aimed in a safe direction. They are ALWAYS loaded and must be treated as such 👍🏻👍🏻
You don't get many chances with big cal rifles so caution should always be taken. I've heard some horror stories involving big cal rifles in accidents and I never want to be involved in that!

I have one thing you could add for a new shooter "snap cup or dummy round". 2 or 3 of them can make practice of loading, firing, unloading and safety shake 100% safe with realistic practice, with fake rounds.
And they are not that expensive if you look at doing safe practice in your house or flat.
This is my thought.
I've used these in my shotguns to relieve the firing pins when in storage. I can see they could be used as a practice tool

Really great to see someone using a bench and rest- not the tailgate of their truck. I don't know how many idiots do the most pathetic job of attempting to zero a rifle or pistol in every conceivable imaginable. I'm OCD about my weapons and the set up of scopes etc etc. " yep, that's close enough " doesn't work for me.

Awesome video mate. Am planning on sighting in a rifle for the first time at Eagle Park range this week, but doing so in the bush would be easier and so much closer.
Besides having your license in hand, a safe backstop and stable table, is there anything else a budding hunter should know about zeroing in the bush in Vic? Or can you just go for it? Cheers mate.
Basically it's illegal to sight your rifle in up the bush except on private property. I strongly recommend using a certified range

All good advice. What brand and model of Safety glasses are you using, they seem to have a large area to look through, which helps especially shooting prone.
Hey Barry the shooting glasses are made by Beretta and the model is call Puull. They allow a good sight picture in all shooting positions. 👍

What you’re saying is pretty right, I’m 64 been shooting since the age of 5 yes 5 with a .22
Something we should all be aware of firearms safety in camp , and the un-expected arrival of Police just doing there job
Believe me your in the Wonnangatta seen no people for days having a can with your mate around the campfire last night there perhaps, then a very quiet 4x4 rocks into camp , the boys in blue very friendly, then can we check your firearms and ammo
Well if not stored as required by law we’re fucked
Anyone coming back from Rose River or off the Wabonga Plateau coming through Cheshunt be advised all 4x4 campers and hunters are being stopped by the new copper at Whitfield
Guys he’s just doing his job , make it hard for him and stick to the regulations then there’s no problem and his Sargent will be asking him questions why he hasn’t prosecuted anyone for firearms offences
Then the pressure is diminished a little
Just let the fools be caught and pay the fines and loose their guns
Guys Cops love hunting as well and there’s some good blokes amongst them
In a previous video Zeb put in that he kept his gun close at night because of wild dogs , well I don’t think any cop is going to crack the shits at that

Great stuff, something I think I need to do a bit more, especially in lock down. My only concern is, I am of old school, and even when the rifle is definitely unloaded, I have real troubler squeezing a trigger, dry fire. Does it damage the gun? My dad told me many moons ago, don't be doing that unless you are taking a proper shot at game, so I never really have. What are your thoughts on damage to the pin and bolt.

Definitely don't do it with a rim fire but as far as I know it won't damage your firing pin from dry fire practice. I've done a lot of it with no perceivable difference in my primer strikes

I wish I’d taken the time to note how many clicks I made last time i sighted my rifle….I rushed and went the wrong way and ended up going though half a box to get on paper🤦♂️ expensive when there .358win handloads…..

No mate its still my No.1 for Sambar but this M70 is fast becoming a favorite for my everything else rifle.

How do you find the Winchester as an over all Rifle?
The Model 70 is an awesome rifle for the hunter. This one is an Extreme weather 300wm with a timney trigger and a McMillan stock in customs as we speak. I love this rifle and wouldn't hesitate recommending buying one in any calibre.

@@ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventures I Have been using the 9.3 for around 10 years now and have found it very good , most of my hunting is in quite thick country mostly sitting in my climbing tree stand and quietly picking along . Love your videos mate keep up the good work

@@ZebrasSambarhuntingAdventures I have dropped a couple out around the 100yard mark and my longest with the 9.3 was 185 yards resting on a log on the flat in the Wonnangatta just on first light. Was a very easy carry out 👌
