    This is my favourite route. Very quiet. Nice climb. Thanks for pointing out the way down. Take the right fork. Excellent if anyone is not sure. I don't think anyone else has pointed this out. Your videos are clear. Top quality and interesting. Love watching them. Thanks. Mick.

    Great video. Me and the girls walked the Watkins path Saturday just gone, it was a tad scary on the scramble. We are doing the Ranger path soon with one of the girls little boy and now I've seen your walk this is another one to add. Thank you

    I went up that path many years ago but suffered terrible vertigo along with several others in the group. We couldn’t bear to go back down that route so we went down a different way.

    Thankyou. In 1988 I went up the Ranger path and down Rhyd Ddu path. It was my first mountain hike. Had never done anything quite like that hike. I was visiting from Australia touring on my bicycle. A memorable experience. Brought my partner and step children back in 1996, we caught the train to the summit and walked down the Llanberis path. My last visit was in 2015 with my daughter. Train to the summit and back down. 3 very different , but memorable experiences.

      I think the Rhyd Ddu/Ranger is a great combination, quieter than the other routes and the Rhyd Ddu is quite rugged too. I've never done the train but I always give the occupants a wave when they go past!

    Great video and cool drone footage! This path up Snowdon is on my to do list. Good to hear its a quiet route, my mission in the mountains is exactly the same as yours, aim for as much solitude as possible and aim to gets summits to yourself. I did Snowdon once late in the day and had the top all to myself it was amazing, as in your video. Cheers, Adam

    Awesome! So nice to get clear skies and an empty summit. I’ve never seen it that quiet in probably a dozen or so visits.

    Great video 👍

  • @markjones127
    @markjones127 10 месяцев назад +1

    It's very quite but Allt Maenderyn and Y Lliwedd are quieter, the quietest section of any path is the Llanberis ridge, any people who use that route are usually the only people to use that route that day, it was a route used a lot by locals back in the day, my aunty in Llanberis would always take us that way when I was a kid in the 70's, it's just a detour off the Llanberis path though, and when you hit Clogwyn you can go off the main path and straight line it straight up to Garnedd Ugain, but that's not a path at all so always very quiet, it's a very popular route for fell runners when it's busy though.

    thinking of taking this path my dog on the weekend, she's a 3 year old Collie - would you say the route and path is okay for dogs? I've picked this route over others due to it being much more quieter, would love to hear what you think

    • @thebaldscrambler
      @thebaldscrambler  6 месяцев назад

      I've seen dogs and parents on this route and I think most well behaved dogs should be fine, the main hazards being the cliff at 4:12 and the ridge at 5:46. The Snowdon Ranger Path is also quiet but shallower. Llanberis Path is shallower still but not the most exciting and overly popular. Pyg Track is popular with dog walkers as the car park is 1/3rd of the way up. I've taken a Mini Schnauzer up the Watkin Path but had to lift her over one section. Have fun!

    @mikeadams6659 Год назад +1

    I am heading up to the same campsite next week! I’ve never been to the area before and was planning on heading up the Watkins path and down Rhyd Dhu in a circular. I am taking my Labrador. What’s the exposure like? Would it be dangerous to take a dog on? He is used to the hills and has been up the Brecons and Langdale Pyke etc

    • @thebaldscrambler
      @thebaldscrambler  Год назад

      I've taken a Miniature Schnauzer up the Watkin path before and I had to lift her over an obstacle on the steep upper section (you can see the terrain on my video here: ruclips.net/video/uZOOM_Qhze0/видео.html ) I have seen other dogs on the Watkin Path but it's one of the more difficult routes so not for everyone or every dog. The Rhyd Ddu Path is easier and I feel the main hazards are navigation in low cloud and the two ridges (as shown in the video) if it's really windy. Tip: If you want to see more of the terrain, you can use Google Streetview on the route as they've got step-by-step images for the entire route.

    Which path up is best/ quietest in summer with kids and a dog? We are going this summer to Snowdonia.
    We are thinking about this route, maybe more quiet, or the Pig track and Miners track.
    And do you have other tips for walking hikes in the area?
