I really liked the episode, mostly for the fact that it showcased Jane's and Lisbon's depth of feelings for one another. I loved the phone call between them when Patrick said the way he got Lisbon to let her guard down was by letting down his own! And, I think it was clever writing to have Lisbon follow Jane's advice by showing her vulnerability in this new relationship and opening up about him while in her cell. Jane's eyes when he looks at Lisbon communicate so many silent feelings, like just after the FBI showed up when guns had been drawn on them both. He rushed over to her, and you can just imagine the things he wanted to say, or how he wanted to grab her and just hold her. (Actually, I wish he had done that..). Looking forward to next week's episode, but I hope we don't see any hint of romance between Patrick and Erica!
The episode wasn't that bad. I agree with you about the look in his eyes. I also love the moment that Jane tried to stop the bad guys to shoot Lisbon. I expect that they would hug but it didn't happened. There was something going on between them. I am really looking forward to the next episode.
I usually agree with you, but this time I actually think that this episode was really good, I mean we get to see more about the develop of jane and lisbon's relationship, and the case and the prision thing was really fun (for me more interesting than the previous episode). I really like it :)
Yeah, I thought the bad guys were so crazy, in hindsight they put Lisbon in mortal danger from this episode on, which scared Jane to no ends. It was also cool to see Lisbon being part of every con now, not just there for the grand reveal. And the opening scenes were so cute: the comments about slippers, "I'll wait for you." Whew.
Americ, I think the point of The Mentalist this season is to just have fun. Red John is gone, Jane and Lisbon have confessed their feelings so there are no more mysteries and stories to set up the mysteries. Its just straight case-solving and relationship stuff. I believe there will be a new serial killer toward the end but for now its just fun. This ep was written by the great Jordan Harper. Not one of his best but he always delivers the fun. Also, I like Choga too.
am i the only one who doesn't see anything between Cho and Vega? or am i just blind? :D i personally ship Vega with Wiley, because they're both new and cute. but i like the name Choga though! the episode was quite good in my opinion. i loved Robin in it so much!! and Jane caring about Lisbon A LOT.
I agree with you in not seeing anything with Cho and Vega. I see them as more of a Mentor-Student type of thing. She's trying to do the right thing and fit well in her new workplace and see's how Cho is so pro at it. I kinda agree with Americ about this being somewhat of a filler episode but i especially liked the part when Abbot assured Jane that Lisbon would be alright. Abbot knows wassup and he just wanted to calm Jane down about it and Jane said"i know" but we could all see that he's also worried about her. Seems sweet ^_^
Yes, thank you, I agree! I remember Joe Adler mentioning in an interview that Wiley begins to develop feelings for Vega, whereas her admiration for Cho cannot go beyond anything amicable.
Usually I don't disagree with Americ, but I loved this episode. I thought it was fun and really well written and directed. One of the best from the series. I liked Janes Gatorade bottle idea and Lisbon's clues to have the team find her.
I gotta say that I loved this episode! Especially since it was Lisbon centric and she doesn’t have very many episodes like that! And a lot of Jisbon moment! Sure the criminals might have been reckless, but they felt a little like a version of Bonnie and Clyde
Chega or Wega (Wiley and Vega)? I sense that Cho may not be interested in Vega, but Wiley seems to be crushing on her. Shoutout to Wiley for honouring Jane's teacup and for Vega not being another Fisher.
I think the point of this ep was just to have some fun and to see how Jane and Lisbon, a couple (a new one!) dealt with being separated. It also gave the opportunity to see Lisbon's perspective on it all. Also Vega's first name is Michelle. And I believe many use the term 'chega' :P but hey, choga is rockin it too!
Thought I'd like this episode but ended up agreeing with AMERIC that it was a waste of one whole episode. ABSOLUTELY do not want to waste any part of the remaining 11 episodes on CHEGA. I really have fond memories of the CHUMMER story line and if time allowed wouldn't mind KC finding some love. TIME DOESN"T ALLOW!!! Each and every episode should have as it's primary purpose an obvious advancement of JISBON. The 30-45 seconds spent with VEGA talking to CHO should have been a moment of consolation between TL and PJ who came within seconds of being killed. And then nothing more is said about it ??? Though the crooks were dumb as dirt, I did like the undercover story and feel that this aspect of the JISBON relationship will be a significant source of stress between them since now they both have much more invested in the safety of the other.
I love this episode for its "moments." Like you said in your other reviews of other episodes, it's the moments that make the episodes unforgettable. I know that Lisbon can hold her own in any situation but I love how Jane worries about her. It's not because he does not believe in her as a good agent but just because he loves her and worrying comes with that territory. Also because he knows that anything could go wrong (like what went wrong when they had that shouting-at-each-other episode in the other season and Lisbon walked out and Red John got to her.) I love the phone call, and the wanting to hug in the end but could not for the sake of keeping the rel'ship to themselves. But Simon Baker is really good with the nuances. Like his worry for Lisbon was written all over him when the camera focused on him taking a deep breath while looking at the car that was taking his girl away to prison, but before that, he cracked a joke with Lisbon about waiting for her until she gets out... trying not to show her how worried he was about the whole con.
I loved the episode! There was so much Jisbon going on even though they were not together for the most part. That phone call with Jane was sooo sweet. When he tells her he met a girl like that and that he got to her by lowering his own guard.... aaah! It was amazing! Also I appreciated that (for everyone who watched Prison Break) this time it was Rock to try to break someone out of Prison and Robin the one breaking out :D
At the end when he was being interrogated though, I can understand where you're coming from when you say he sort of flipped on his girlfriend. I mean he pretty much knew after he asked "What am I getting out of this?" I don't think he weighed his options at first and didn't realize he could of straight up gotten the death sentence. He did give himself and his allies up rather quickly though, but if I think he realized life in jail was better for him than death.
Vego! Yea, lol no. I dunno. I totally agree with you though, the villains weren't really powerful. What scared me the most in this episode was when Abbott shouted at that girl, what was her name?? I jumped out of my seat. Yea, but next time, it would be cool to tell the storyline, it's like an important part of the reviews ya know?? So when I watch one month from now, I know the story. :))
I liked the episode for the garnishes, but I also felt kind of disappointed by the main plot, and not just for the dumb bad guys. I think that if you watch The Mentalist for the relationship between Patrick and Teresa, you'll be satisfied by the episode. And that seems to be the reason why most of the fans liked it, because a lot of them only care about that. But it miss other points: the episode apparently seems to be Lisbon-centric, but in fact it's not: everything she does is what Patrick tells her to do. I know that the show is called "The Mentalist" and they have to put tricks and stuff like that in. But there was the map stuff. And the jailbreak input, to bring the FBI to Cole. No, he also has to plan the escape. Couldn't they, at least, leave it to Lisbon? The plan is not even that smart: when the guard goes away following the red-herring noise, we could see another guard there: she is walking in the background. That's enough to mess up the plan. But Patrick planned it, so it works. And then there is the footprint scene: maybe the only initiative the writers gave to Lisbon. And she is supposed to do that to give a hint to the FBI. But no: they don't get it; only Patrick does. Vega thinks that she stepped in it by accident. Yeep, a 13 years-old career cop dunks her foot in the victim's blood. I mean, even Vega, the rookie one, should know that they should never contaminate the crime scene. Usually I like Patrick tricks, because they were built on a good plot. Here we have the plot being built on Patrick's tricks, and it makes it kind of a bad plot. In conclusion: - they could have given Lisbon some skills in a situation in which she was all alone; but they didn't: she just followed Patrick's directions. - they had CIA, FBI, a women's prison and a grand theft auto ring all in one; but all they gave us were two of the dumbest thieves ever seen and the entire Texas law enforcement groping in the dark until the same old Patrick solved everything. And then, yep, some romantic stuff, which I liked, don't get me wrong on it.
I liked hearing how Lisbon feels, how Jane makes Lisbon insecure but she loves him. I liked the fact that Jane would rather die than live with the death of Lisbon, and the fact that at the end there you could feel how much Jane and Lisbon wanted to touch each other, hug - Jane wanted to hold Lisbon it was written all over him, that is the scene I wished I saw, their private reunion. The rest did not matter to me. Erica Flynn oh boy she got to Jane the last time, he kissed her back and that surprised and frightened him, remember?
I liked this episode, though yeah, your right about the bad guys. Maybe they were trying to make the characters appear as the wild cowboy type, committing crime in a flamboyant way, but they missed the mark because they just seemed sloppy and stupid. There is one other thing that kind of bothers me also, which is in the helicopter scene Lisbon looked kind of obvious about what she intended. I would have rather it had been done with her sneaking towards the gun in a more believable way (maybe chatting it up with the other chick, asking questions, something), her hand actually resting on it, and they guy jumping out of the helicopter while telling her not to think about it. The underlying Jisbon was great though, and even with the obvious questionable aspects of the show, it was entertaining.
I really enjoyed that they orchestrated a prison break in this episode given that Rockmond Dunbar (Abbott) and Robin Tunney (Lisbon) were both on the show Prison Break. I couldn't help but laugh when they brought it up! It was a definite nod to the fans.
Jane worries too much. Almost like Lisbon can't take care of herself. She has been an agent for a while, she is a good agent, she doesn't need a babysitter. I love it when he stands up for her but sometimes the makers should remember that she can hold her own in most situations and give her the credit she deserves.
I agree with you Americ, I got to the end with a feeling of oh ok is that it. Didn't get the bit where the FBI steam in and Jane and Lisbon are safe and don't even hug! Loved Abbott though, he was fab.
Chega! Cho + Vega = Chega!! And Yeah, the bad guys were pretty stupid, but I liked that we saw through Lisbon's perspective for a bit and also that we saw her having to think on her feet (eg the bloody footprint). Sometimes people forget that she was a great detective BEFORE Jane came along, that he just helps out, not does the entire job for her. She is a strong, intelligent, awesome character and people seem to overlook that.
I did not get a shipper vibe from Cho and Vega. If there was a vibe it was a young agent looking for a protege. You shippers finally got your wish with Jisbon when that never existed. With only a few episodes left, lets not push another ridiculous relationship. At least the writers are keeping Jisbon very low key.
haha I liked the vilians am I the only one? I liked the "Bonnie and Clyde"-Vibe. xD Yes, the shooting was very stupid, but didn't they say the guy got paranoid? I had the feeling he overreacted because he thought the shop-guy was calling the police or whatever. Si I think he was in a instabil mood. I also loved that there was girl-power on it and Lisbon beeing undercover without Jane. Did Jane traine her? :) For me it was like Jane showing Lisbon how to trick people, letting her and showing her his world :) So I have no problem, that there wasn't so much "initiative" from Lisbon. Lisbon does policework, Jane does his mental tricks, and now he is teaching Lisbon ;). Lisbon can't just be as good as Jane overnight. I really liked how they missed eachother, and how they were a couple even whithout eachother
I think the episode was ok. Liked the undercover work and Lisbon revealing her feelings but I think we all missed some Jisbon !! And I rather wouldn't waste any time on Choga (nice name Americ) and have more Jisbon moments!
yea I see Americ's point, the plot wasnt the best, but I still loved it.The episode was more focused on Jisbon and it was well done.Think Vega is sound and Wiley is just deadly..wont even comment on Cho,cos he's just hilarious fecker:))I just have big respect for all the mentalist crew..so whatever ye decide to do JUST bring it on!!!
I think Vega has a lot to learn!! A least about Jane. I mean if it would have gone Vega's way, Lisbon would be dead!!!!!! And I don't know if i can excuse that, just because Vega is new? Or at least she has to make up it really hard. I loved this Episode, but if I think about it the reason why i love it is only because of the Jisbon part. Americ is right, the case wasn't realy a good case, I think the reason for this Episode are the comming episodes. It's Kind of the starter for the next few episodes. About that Chega think, I can't see it right now. And because, I don't really like Vega yet, I think Cho should get a better one. But we'll see how Vega will be and maybe I can see it then.
I feel about Vega just like you! She is annoying and has no "intuition" when and how to do the policeworks. :( And Cho should be together with someone like Summer! I still miss Summer. But I liked the Ep!:)
Haha.... Choga! Choga! Choga! (lol... sorry, that just sounds too funny not to chant). ;) Seriously though, I don't think you can get into a deep, serious relationship. I'm seeing some interest on Vega's part toward Cho and on Wiley's part toward Vega. It really doesn't matter to me if they explore either one. It's not going to take center stage, we might as well enjoy it. And I liked this episode, but mostly for Lisbon, Jane and the team. The bad guys seemed more unruly and disorganized, but that kind of criminal does exist. I guess we're used to the more calculating, manipulative sort (i.e., Erica).
I liked this episode. It wasn't as good as the first one, but it was nonetheless not boring at all. Not really shipping Vega and Cho. Anyway....can't really think straight on account of ....what was that.....JISBON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I felt as though the purpose of the episode was seeing lisbons perspective on her and janes relationship
That's absolutely right 👍
I really liked the episode, mostly for the fact that it showcased Jane's and Lisbon's depth of feelings for one another. can't wait for that!
damn, i'm such a hopeless shipper..

When I saw Erica's picture... I almost screamed. This will be interesting to say the least.
I think the point of this ep was just to have some fun and to see how Jane and Lisbon, a couple (a new one!) dealt with being separated. It also gave the opportunity to see Lisbon's perspective on it all.

Great review, America. :)

In addition to our #24DaysofChristmas video, Americ also has a new #TheMentalist review! Wooo!
Oh, Americ. Just sit back and enjoy the fun. It's all chocolate - who needs meat

missed the whole erica flynn story arc 😰😰
And I don't want Choga!!! -.-
Summer was perfect for Cho!
Totally agree
I got the title right as you said it! 😂😂
