Awesome video, Alfred! I think it's really cool how Woz is watching these videos and most likely viewing these comments. Woz, if your're viewing this... you and Steve did a great job and we definitely wouldn't be where we are today if it wasn't for all your hard work. So thank you! :) Keep the videos coming, Alfred! This one gets 5 stars and a favorite from me.
Both Steves have fun presenting their products. WOZ is so passionate explaining his inventions here while JOBS wows everybody in his keynotes. Hail the Computing Legends...
David - you are correct, we would NOT be where we are right now without 'The Two Steves', as they used to be referred to back in the day! Thanks for watching! - Alfred
He is the Man...Just imagine at that time doing all the things by yourself, right form doing the electronics to writing the software ..Mann! Woz is truly a genius of our time...Respect
Hey Simple - I go back a long way with Apple, being one of their early authorized dealers back in 1978. So, I was front line selling all this stuff! I am enjoying a dialogue with Woz, and I thought it was critical to ask him permission before posting this incredible piece of footage. I was glad he said "YES" and now we can all enjoy it! Thanks for watching! - Alfred
Both Steves were geniouses. Each on his own field. One's skills just complemented those of the other's. It was just the fortunate combination of their two personalities, skills, time, space, location, chance, will, and vision. When factors like these concur, history is changed. RIP Steve Jobs, cheers Steve Woz, we're still on the same earth, can't wait to have one of his signed books and own a peace of legend. Greetings and admiration from Mexico.
Wozniak is a great man! He always look very humble and gentle for me, sometimes I think that he doesnt realized how important he is in the history of humanity, his little portable creation only placed the world in another stage of evolution and developement...
Oh, ok. LOL. I enjoy friends from all over the world watching these videos, and I appreciate your comments! Thank you. More to come, so stay tuned! - Alfred
Is Woz GREAT or what! A living legend - he is THE INVENTOR of the personal computer. He created an industry. Incredible. Thanks for watching, and of course, more to come! - Alfred
J! Thanks for watching. Oh yea, it's 'hopefully' boot up. I first have to get an old mouse for the Lisa -- and I have to find the special video cable for the NeXT Cube. Damn. I never should have split cable from computer. Dumb, on my part. TTYL - Alfred
Spring! Yes, of course the Altair. How about these gems: Imsai 8080, CompuColor, Northstar Horizon, Sol, Vector Graphics, SWTPC - oh man, that was some FUN TIMES! Thanks for watching!
Mark! Thanks for checking in and watching. I fell out of my chair when I saw this clip, it was so damn cool! I hope you post more piano pieces soon! Thanks! - Alfred
Hi Dave - hmm, good question. What we do know is 'at least a million'. Imagine that - a million of one particular model. That is incredible! Thanks for watching! - Alfred
Apple, last time I was at the corporate office, had museum pieces near the front lobby. This museum was set up at the Moscone center when they were rolling out the Apple IIc - Alfred.
Everybody seems to see Jobs as the visionary and Wozniak as the engineer. I think both Wozniak and Jobs had pretty good visions of the future of personal computers, but Jobs was the best at directing the designs and its marketing to make them the most attractive ones to the public.
Engineers around the world worship the Woz for his contribution to Computer Engineering. Without him, the computers of today would probably still have been large boxes with blinking leds that are very hard to use.
Hey WV - yes, the company has gone through many changes. It's great that the USA has brilliant engineers and visionaries ... and don't forget us old computer dealers, who were 'front line' to make this all happen :) - Alfred
Hi Arsenium - yes, Steve Jobs, has a thing for cubes. The NeXT Cube, the older Cube Mac, the Mac Mini -- gee, I wonder if he liked the movie "HellRaiser", with that crazy cube thingy... :)
Thanks so much for this video. I never knew Apple as you did. I started with the Altair 8080 (Intel) and CP/M. Remember "Fire in the Valley"? What a wonderful era.
DON'T MESS WITH THE WOZ! The guy at the end was pretty hilarious too talking about the LISA and NeXT "we'll be booting them on film you will see these things working maybe, maybe not they might blow up. cool."
People who build computers today are like children playing with blocks. Buy & slap some parts together and you're done. You can't say that about Woz. He designed and built computers old school style. He has my respect and thanks for his genius and contributions.
FX, there is MORE coming from this goldmine of a tape. It's over two hours long! I'll have a few more clips up, maybe this weekend. Thanks for watching! - Alfred
Agree with the other comments that Woz is the true creator of the Apple computers. imagine the vision and ideas that would have to be hand drawn into schematics then go to the electronics store and buy the other parts needed and build it all on a bench in your garage. are there any pioneers like this man left?
Oh, so THAT was the apple 1. Now that was a small keyboard. The apple II. ah, Haha, the year of the mouse. lol. And the first ever external hdd? Oh so that is how the Next cube and the Lisa looks like. haha. 'They might blow up' LOL! Great Vid Al, this is going directly to my favourites.
Ahhh! I like that -- year of the rat! See that, the Chinese calendar DOES have all of the secrets. Isn't the iPod made in China? Nice! Thanks for watching! - Alfred
My Apple II's still work and I have a few of the Apple II+'s, an Apple IIe and an Apple IIgs. All work fine, with the exception of a few disk drives that are out of alignment....but they will still boot up some 30+years later.
Mike, I used to sell this stuff from 1977 to 1988. That ratty old VHS tape, with a hand written label, was given to me by my Apple Computer dealer rep, to brief me on the new product line that I was going to sell. I purchased a really good video converter, and I've been converting my library of 'old crap' for the past few weeks. YES - more to come! Strap in! - Alfred
How could I forget .... Cromemco, Ohio Scientific, the Kim I, the Bally video game system that ran "Bally Basic", LOL. More will come up from my long term memory. More to come. - Alfred
Yeah here we go. Perfect example where the best was yet to come from Apple. The funny part is, I remember Apple cassette tapes, though I never used them. =)
Wozniak 'invented' the modern personal computer. By modern personal computer, I mean a computer that used a monitor and a keyboard. Woz was the first person who ever used this concept of using a computer with a monitor and a keyboard with the Apple I. Before that, computers like what you've given, the Altair 8080, were large boxes with blinking LEDs. He was also the first person to successfully get a computer monitor to display colour graphics with the Apple II.
@imanerd36 I love Woz, and he is a genius. The reason Jobs gets so much credit, is mostly due to the fact he was the one who pioneered the Macintosh. While everyone was working on the Apple Lisa, the apple board of directors forced Jobs off of the Lisa project (where Woz was working) and Jobs decided to build his own, which he called the macintosh. When they both were released, the Apple Lisa plummeted, and the Macintosh became the staple of apple.
Also, I've got a couple of PC based simulations you might be interested in. They are fully functional replicas (created in software) of the Altair an the Imsai systems. Let know where to ftp if interested.
I have an Apple II that i bought from ebay in 2004. it was either 35 or 45 bucks, and the seller also sold me a matching monitor for it for 50. total spent 85-95 dollars. now its worth a few hundred because its mint
Definitelly agree Wozniak Always Was the Apple Software, but here's my question: Without Steve, would it have happened? Even considering Steves' Flaws, would Apple, or modern software happened just with Woz alone?
LOL @ the tape cassette drive/storage... I had one. It worked, but it took forever! I was sorta poor and by the time we saved up to buy our 1st non-apple floppy drive, it was $250 on sale. I believe they were $400-$500 when they 1st came out...
The PM system doesn't work so I'll respond here. Yes, I even built my own S-100 system using and Integrande chassis and the Big Z (Z-80) system board kit. That coupled with a 32K static ram kit formed the basis for the system. I'm surprised I didn't get lead poisoning with all the solder fumes from those projects. Good clean fun though.
woz makes all the hard work!! he is the real genius jobs was only the image or the face of APPLE however he makes an excellent job in the marketing part and introducing the computhers to the consumers!!!
@rockbandmidi I saw in a movie that the owner of DOS was quite happy to sell his operating system for $50,000.00, his mistake was to sell it and not license it.
Awesome video, Alfred! I think it's really cool how Woz is watching these videos and most likely viewing these comments. Woz, if your're viewing this... you and Steve did a great job and we definitely wouldn't be where we are today if it wasn't for all your hard work. So thank you! :)
Keep the videos coming, Alfred! This one gets 5 stars and a favorite from me.
Woz, you are so underated. Thank you for your contribution to what is able to be done today. You are a genius sir!
Both Steves have fun presenting their products.
WOZ is so passionate explaining his inventions
here while JOBS wows everybody in his keynotes.
Hail the Computing Legends...
David - you are correct, we would NOT be where we are right now without 'The Two Steves', as they used to be referred to back in the day! Thanks for watching! - Alfred
Please contact the Apple-1 Registry, if you own the original VHS cassette. Or, if you have photos of the Apple-1 prototype.
I hate how few people know who Woz is when he did all the hard work. Jobs just sold it and gets all the credit. YOU GO WOZ!
Woz, a effin genius and a visionary. Never a dull moment with this guy.
Wow... it still amazes me how Apple formed and developed into what it is today. Thanks Al! (and Woz for allowing the video to be posted)
He is the Man...Just imagine at that time doing all the things by yourself, right form doing the electronics to writing the software ..Mann! Woz is truly a genius of our time...Respect

Thanks for the upload Alfred - I'm feeling especially nostalgic now! Keep 'em comin'! - AJ

Jen, thanks for watching. I have to watch some of your newer stuff too! TTYL - Alfred
Wozniak is a great man! He always look very humble and gentle for me, sometimes I think that he doesnt realized how important he is in the history of humanity, his little portable creation only placed the world in another stage of evolution and developement...
Woz is definitely an electrical engineering hero. A great person too.
Thanks for this video Alfred! Truly amazing stuff. It's weird seeing computers from just 30 years ago. Imagine people seeing this 300 years from now.
Oh, ok. LOL. I enjoy friends from all over the world watching these videos, and I appreciate your comments! Thank you. More to come, so stay tuned! - Alfred
Hi Aaron - I don't recall a motorcycle last time I was at the corporate office. Thanks for watching! - Alfred
Is Woz GREAT or what! A living legend - he is THE INVENTOR of the personal computer. He created an industry. Incredible. Thanks for watching, and of course, more to come! - Alfred
He's a pretty cool guy, and this is a great video. I like seeing his passion there. That energy exists in the product these days. Good for him!
J! Thanks for watching. Oh yea, it's 'hopefully' boot up. I first have to get an old mouse for the Lisa -- and I have to find the special video cable for the NeXT Cube. Damn. I never should have split cable from computer. Dumb, on my part. TTYL - Alfred

Hi Bill - ahh, good to see you kept them preserved! My old stuff still works good too! Thanks for watching! - Alfred
Mark! Thanks for checking in and watching. I fell out of my chair when I saw this clip, it was so damn cool! I hope you post more piano pieces soon! Thanks! - Alfred

Woz has a great personality and does a good presentation.

Hahaha, not as "RONG" as how you spelled "Wrong" LOL! Thanks for watching - Alfred
Great video, and great that you have the cube and lisa........awesome.
WOZ really a living legend!
Engineers around the world worship the Woz for his contribution to Computer Engineering. Without him, the computers of today would probably still have been large boxes with blinking leds that are very hard to use.
It's funny to see how (fast) things change in the computer industry...Cool video!
Hey WV - yes, the company has gone through many changes. It's great that the USA has brilliant engineers and visionaries ... and don't forget us old computer dealers, who were 'front line' to make this all happen :) - Alfred

This dude loves his craft.
Yes, lots of passion by Woz in his engineering efforts!
Hey, I want to get my Apple II out of storage and turn it on! LOL! Thanks for watching, AJ! - Alfred
Thanks so much for this video. I never knew Apple as you did. I started with the Altair 8080 (Intel) and CP/M. Remember "Fire in the Valley"? What a wonderful era.

WOW! That's amazing! Thanks for that info! - Alfred
You couldn't have one without the other. Woz was the engineering genius, Jobs was the marketing genius and visionary.
FX, there is MORE coming from this goldmine of a tape. It's over two hours long! I'll have a few more clips up, maybe this weekend. Thanks for watching! - Alfred
Do you still have more of this?

Oh, so THAT was the apple 1.
Now that was a small keyboard.

i love his hand gestures
woz is amazing, he deserves more respect than he gets
Ahhh! I like that -- year of the rat! See that, the Chinese calendar DOES have all of the secrets. Isn't the iPod made in China? Nice! Thanks for watching! - Alfred
YES! Woz is a great person, and a brilliant engineer. I hope you are doing well, Rocco -- thanks for checking in! - Alfred
Is there anymore of this? AT ALL?!
My Apple II's still work and I have a few of the Apple II+'s, an Apple IIe and an Apple IIgs.
All work fine, with the exception of a few disk drives that are out of alignment....but they will still boot up some 30+years later.

I don't think Woz ever wanted the fame or money. He is a true geek who just wants to play in the great sandbox of the electronics world.
Woz was the bomb, as the kids would say. If it wasn't for him and Jobs I probably would have never gotten interested in computers.
The Zerox alto was before the apple 1 and had the first GUI intoduced in 1973!
You are a man who know's whats up. Congrats.
Assembly language on paper? On. Paper. THAT is hard core.
I'm hardcore then :)
This video taught me the more you can't afford to start with, the more you will ended up being able to afford.
Woz didn't invent the personal computer. He just simplified it and made it popular.
Woz is a great guy, I wish I could meet both of the Jobs and Woz.
I love Woz!
Cool video! Thanks! Ive recently ordered the book "iWoz" . =D
Yeah here we go. Perfect example where the best was yet to come from Apple. The funny part is, I remember Apple cassette tapes, though I never used them. =)
Where did you ever find a jewell of a video with Woz making a presentation?
THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!
At this time Apple products where still expandable, now you cannot even change the battery anymore without voiding the warranty...
"We" ? Woz did the entire thing by himself. Jobs just sold it.
i mean, probably true, but wdym "just"...its like the biggest company ever.
Wozniak 'invented' the modern personal computer. By modern personal computer, I mean a computer that used a monitor and a keyboard. Woz was the first person who ever used this concept of using a computer with a monitor and a keyboard with the Apple I. I would love to meet the Woz some day.
Can you please re-upload in full-res?
+Matt Orfalea Wouldn't that be full res? It's from a VHS tape, and those are 320 x 240. This is 240p so it's definitely full resolution.
Excellent!!!
I had a charcoal colored Apple II+, made for Bell and Howell.
Which library? They probably have several? Thanks
Your absolutely right, without Jobs, Woz would have been an absolute star at HP.
1984. wow this is as old as i am.
Corey -- eBay? LOL! See you on GOW this weekend! - Alfred
Wozniak is great man
Woz is probably crushed to heck at this point to hear about his partner in Apple :[
May your and Mr. Job's legacy live on forever, Woz...
@imanerd36 I love Woz, and he is a genius. The reason Jobs gets so much credit, is mostly due to the fact he was the one who pioneered the Macintosh. The Apple Historical Collection is at Stanford University now, in the Library.
Also, I've got a couple of PC based simulations you might be interested in. They are fully functional replicas (created in software) of the Altair an the Imsai systems. Let know where to ftp if interested.
This is really intellectual property of mankind!

Cool Video. I would like see that Museum.
Hey L - I can't wait for them to make a computer with circuits based on 'light' -- now that will be damn cool! - Alfred
Good old Woz, all Apple II and no mention of the Lisa or Mac.
Doc! Thanks - I'm uploading something new 'right now' called Apple II Forever, so check back in a bit later today! - Alfred
Definitelly agree Wozniak Always Was the Apple Software, but here's my question: Without Steve, would it have happened? Even considering Steves' Flaws, would Apple, or modern software happened just with Woz alone?

@rockbandmidi I saw in a movie that the owner of DOS was quite happy to sell his operating system for $50,000.00, his mistake was to sell it and not license it.
this is pretty damn cool
I wonder if the new movie coming out will address that. That would be a cool area Pirates of Silicon Valley never touched on.
