My theory is that the MV is his story of life. Similar to yours, but I think that the chaos is not just adulthood, but how he's felt about the music industry. After entering in it, thanks to friends, he could be relatively safe from the chaos of adulthood (when passing through the tunnel under the chaos). But the pressure, the routine suffocated him so much that he needed a time for himself. And, again, with the help of friends (he told us it was a friend who said to take a time), he escapes from it (the last two years). But he's addicted to that life, I mean, to create music, so he decided to come back, this time conscious of what he will find there.
Wow, my theory was very similar about being in the chaos of show business and then taking some time to slow down, to live for himself, to take care of himself. But even though his life as an artist is hectic and crazy, he can't leave it behind, he craves it, so he returns to it. The thing I didn't understand was who was this kid who helped him out. But if it's really RM's friend who advised him to take a break, then this is the puzzle piece that was missing from my picture!
After seeing the Minimoni and then your reaction to this MV…. I was thinking if this MV was reflecting on what his life was. He was from a small town and then got into BTS, started out really tough and with the right friends they were able to get through the tough part. Things are moving along and things got more and more hectic in the music industry. Day in and day out writing music, making music and tours and interviews…etc. He felt like he was choking and friends help him out of during this break from BTS. He feels like he had to finding himself and what he loves about music again. At one point he may have thought about quitting go back to his small town but after being able to find himself and find his love for music again. He wants to return back to BTS and make music again. 💜
I am pretty sure he knew of all this shit with Min Hee Jin was about to hit the fan. 'New Shit'. I am equally sure he didn't tell the others before they went to the army to protect them. Jimin didn't know he said "who are these jerks?".
@@vildank613 Now here I am making a huge stretch, a fun bit of silliness, not based on any fact, so take this with a pinch of salt. BUT in RMs live version of NUTS in the studio he changed the lyrics from 'all nighter' to 'damn fighter'. Rappers like double meanings and we know RM will pivot a song to give it new possible meanings. He did that with Spring Day which took on a whole new meaning with the MV so that it could also refer to the Sewol Ferry disaster. In NUTS there was that smirk at the end and the wink hidden behind his hand. I thought of how appropo the lyrics were if it refered yo the mess Min Hee Jin made. She is definately freaky and a gaslighter and Bang Si Hyuk is a damn fighter when it comes to money no one can beat him? As I said a bit of silliness.... but?
I think it was, in part, a Young Boy battered by Adult Stresses too early, (while his Friend's Father stopped the boy from entering). The Companion helped him avoid the worst by Navigating away from the most dangerous (Police Barricades), but they both were trapped by the Train. They were small enough to thread through the crush and escape the Monster (Godzilla???) at the Track's End. He escaped, but decided he wanted the Excitement of Adulthood versus the Idyllic Simplicity of Childhood. The fact the Song, itself, is in Korean, English, and Japanese, makes me wonder if the Kaiju Eye is indicative of Godzilla - WWII and the Tortured, Entangled, Histories of the three countries?
I still can't decide which one song is my favorite from this album. When I first listen to it, I fell in love with this one, it´s a chaotic and funny song and I think MV suits perfect to it. I think my top 3 of this album are Domodachi, Groin and Nuts; but every one has something I like a lot. Help! Awesome reaction as alway and btw, I agree a lot with your theory.
Always so nice seeing someone take the time to study an artist's work. Right or wrong matters less than the effort invested. Good luck with them nuances.
Omg you crack me up! I was “what is he eating?” I thought it was a bowl of m&ms and whip cream then realized it was the squirrel dish🤣🤣🤣. I also have that dish. 💜. I love you 💜
Thank you for this reaction, Roscoe. Really deep interpretation there and so interesting reading everybody's theories. Yeah, diving into the chaos of adulthood and having that friend who has your back and guides you out when things get overwhelming. But also giving you the respect and space so that if you decide to dive back in again they let you go. Like the way the members of BTS are each other's safe zone.
Rm is one of the main reasons why I still place BTS above all other kpop groups. In a simple scheme: Philosophy, intellectual, real meanings and deep subjects. Not only about Feminism, breakup and alter ego/other personna (which for me is still weird cuz I see that as a hint of schizophrenia depending on how one depict and or describe his other oneself)
My theory is that the two kids represent RM one is his childhood innocence and this is why he can't enter, the other is his teenage self. He started the underground scene around this age so this was him navigating the adult world underground, hence crawling through the tunnel. Then he emerged to the music scene, getting attention from the world making demands and requesting that he step up and represent more than just him. All while immersed in the repetitive corporate life where days are chaotic but feel the same. He doesn't feel part of this world because he's still young and hasnt had time to mature into his adult self. In this environment everyone is his friend and ask for photp ops and favors yet he can tell who is fake and who is genuine. Eventually this chaos hits a wall and he is spiraling and getting angry behind walls (the monster eye) but then he's pulled out of this situation by friends. He comes back to himself a little older a little wiser and can now face that world on his own.
The boy who helped him in the tunnel and then to escape looks a lot to younger jin. Rm needed to escape and his older brother/ friend helped him and he stayed now in the chaos in his behalf
The theories in chat were great wish I hadn't missed that part of the live. I can see that being thrown into a leadership role and the chaos of adult life and all the stressors have a negative effect and if you don't have a safety net of friends to pull you through it can get rough. We lost too many too early because of that. But if you do have that safety net and can step away for awhile you can go back in with another perspective and navigate better hopefully because you know you love what you do.
You know RM cannot drive( his dad begged him not to learn for World peace). So RM and his push bike are famous. RM explored the chaotic world of the music industry. With his friends he skirts underneath most of the chaos. He wants and does escape with the help of friends. But in the end comes back to the friendship he left behind.
One of my favourite, but don't understand it. Thanks for shade a light on it. Probably you are almost right, but only Kim Namjum call really tell, the M. M. M. with Jimin don't explain to much. Love your video thanks
I had a very similar analysis as you. this road to adulthood full of chaos and the notion of not knowing what is the corresponding place for oneself, that and the message of empathy the other boy that take the main character out from chaos is telling us then. Without the support of others is more difficult to differentiate us from chaos. The main character represents innocence going into chaos finding connection with others true empathy and true that acknowledging that the path goes forward and no backwards that’s why he had to continue with his path.
I also think that at a very young age he entered the ruthless world, often full of false friends, where he had to face a lot of challenges and put a lot of pressure on him. Yes, he thought about getting out of this, but in the end he turned to safety, to friends, no matter how hard the road was.
I hadn't realised it was a Different Kid at the End, but what if it is the Same Kid, but Older? The Team posted a shot of the Kid looking up from the crush of commuters, echoing Joonie's shot from the early pictures, so he WAS there, in Spirit 💜❤️🔥
Ronny Chieng just did a Quick Explainer on K-Pop and had a section on the Assassination of the Authoritarian President, and we all know about the Protests following The Sewol Tragedy @12:34
I think the boy is Namjoo and him hanging out with his friend was like his use and then I think the kid that he says goodbye to as he’s going over the fence is like BTS and they’re saying OK you know go do whatever you need to do and we’ll see in a little while and then he goes off with his new friends and then he ends up, turning around going back to BTS😊

I spot a 'K-pop industy train' and the actors who either rides it or runs it. A dark world looking like a underground club: no place for a kid aka idols. The train is also not real: it's a toy. K-pop music comes with stories and games. Is the train like The Hotel California: Once you enter you can't escape? Or more hopefully it could be Alice in Wonderland: She wakes up in the end and gets out of the rabbithole. We don't get an answer in this MV: as spectators we are also visitors in the ug club (=rabbithole) cuz we like the kids. And they wants us to keep us there. Namjoon is perhaps showing us a mirror of idols fictional hamsterwheel and also us: watching it go round and round? "Diary", he said. Blurred lines between reality and fiction.
Subtitles are coming soon!!

I found some references from the Ghibli film “The boy and the Heron” and also “Monster” the 2023 Japanese psychological mystery thriller
This MV gives me Akira Kurosawa's vibe, too

Theory: mv depicts young Namjoon going to underground rap in tunnel, being rejected for entry fitst...then entry as he gets older.
