Everyone recognizes David, but Dan is the real mastermind behind the group. He does a lot more than just play guitar on their records.
That’s true but a band is nothing without the drummer singer and bassist
They both are awesome
Criminally underrated guitarist.
I've been saying that for years. I couldn't agree more.
CRIMINAL THE SUFFERING!!!
Dude shreds...He's a Beast!
Especially with his rhythm playing. He down picks almost everything. His rhythm playing is right up there with Hetfield
AND ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE THINKS KURT COBAIN IS IN THE TOP TEN GUITARISTS OF ALL TIME??!! Kick rocks...Dan is both parts tasty and shredder. He needs to be acknowledged as one of the greats, I agree.
His solos in The Night and Stricken are pure gold
Inside the Fire too
Also The Infection and Asylum. Etc.
every single one of his solos are amazing as fuck
Oh yeah Stricken
@@xypherus777 I was just going to say that
This guy is constantly overlooked when top metal guitarists are discussed...BUT he's the composer in the band and literally created the Disturbed sound. A criminally underrated and superbly skilled musician!
Who proposes we get a shirt made with a cartoon Graham saying "They do get that wrong sometimes"?!
It's not a bad catchphrase, that one.
Loudwire just released a compilation of everytime he's said that 🤣
I met the whole band at a meet and greet not too long ago. The whole band was super cool especially dan. Great bunch of guys
I met them at an Ozfest in Phoenix back in '03 in the "back stage" area of the 2nd stage. A friend of mine working with me was talking mostly with David and I spoke mostly with Dan, although I did rap with David some as well. They were both super cool. What was funny was after they left, I said to my friend, those dudes from Disturbed were pretty fucking cool, eh! His response..."They're in disturbed?" In his defense, he had a copy of The Sickness but still didn't know what they looked like. Perhaps that was good because I believe that they spoke with us for a good half an hour. I am not sure that he would have, but if either of us would have acted like "fan boys," they probably would have just said "hey" then get on their way. Even though I knew who they were and said some things in a matter of fact way that I let it be know that I know that they are, I just spoke to them like as if it were friend that I know and was it reciprocated. Most well know bands/band members certainly like their fans to show appreciation. With that said, most don't feel comfortable being treated that much different or overly special than anyone else. So, if you have not met them and if you get the chance, this is a tip to get a little more personal time with them!
Joseph Rivera same here man during their Evo tour they’re all great and nice!
David was cool too? For some reason I always get a vibe from him like hes an asshole, I guess I'm wrong.
Ten thousand fist album literally saved my life. And is why I still listen to metal today
What songs spoke to you the most?
Dan is a very underrated guitarist
Disturbed has some amazing band members. Wish we got more dudes like Dan the Donegan
HAIL TO THE KING! DAN DONEGAN---nxt please, WES BORLAND thanks
Or stephen Carpenter. He is a big influence on how i play the guitar
guitar bro -yeah ! For sure stephen carpenter ayyt 🤟
Synster gates is better
No one:
Graham: *They get that wrong sometimes*
Well they do :)
I mean it is Wikipedia after all
I was gonna post that until i saw that you did it first
I started listening to disturbed back in 2008 when I was around 14, now a decade later I still love visiting them every now and then. Thank you for the memories!
i discovered them 2 years ago when i was 16. First Songs i heard were The Animal and Warrior, and i've been hooked ever since.
So that year was also when I first heard of them with Indestructible album, first song was Inside the Fire.
Synyster gates Fact or Fiction please
Met them when Ten Thousand Fists came out... was at a venue called Lokobazooka( one of many I went to yearly and met lots of bands). David, Dan and Mike were absolutely kind and invested in their fans actually engaging in conversations with them... so I'm going through the line for autographs and last to sign is John. He started talking to me then freaks out about the t-shirt I was wearing(vintage Trixter) and gets this huge happy grin on his face. About 10 minutes after I've left the line people start coming up to me and saying he's still talking about me and my shirt lol
Honestly, the more I watch interviews with disturbed... it just makes me appreciate them more and more
He seems like a really down to earth humble dude.
Saw this band in 98 or 99 in Lincoln Nebraska. At The Royal Grove. It was Sevendust headlining with Six feet under and another band like Six feet under. Lol.yea very weird combination. Any ways the other bands bus broke down and they couldn't make it. So a guy comes out right after Six feet unders set. Tell the crowd the story. He tells everyone they found a band that was close that could fill in. That was Disturbed. No album out yet.
They come out. The guitarist in green hair (long) , the bassist had pink hair. And the drummer had a hockey mask on with a long pink goatee. I looked at my buddy and we both said at the same time , " This is going to suck!" Lmao. They start the drum intro to Down with the Sickness. David gets rolled out on a appliance dolley. Wearing a straight jacket and Hannibal lecter (sp) face mask. They get everything off him just in time for him to do his now infamous "Wah ah ah"
Again my buddy and I looked at each other and said " WHOA!"
Met the band after the show and bought a cassette with Down with the Sickness and Stupify I believe. They were cool and signed it.
Disturbed needs to let him solo more often. He writes really damn good leads
They focus on David Draiman's singing instead and having an outro part in the songs. Feels like Divisive album overall is pretty good but is just marketing agenda to have a few songs sound like the old Disturbed. It doesn't like they're the ones creating the music but it's heavily directed and controlled, almost forced if you know what I mean
He looks like a mixture of Bam Margera and 2000's Eddie Van Halen. I like it . Lol. This was an awesome episode . Such an underated guitarist.
Damn man still chester is unforgetten
#ripchester
Always alive in our hearts rip
do they talk about him?
The original song that David improvised over/auditioned with was “Want” off the first album, I believe.
Hearing dan explain writing procedures, makes me think him and dave are like mike shinoda and Chester bennington were. (P.s.) holy crap! I wrote the 1st part before i dan ever mentioned addiction /depression and chester came on! Whoa thats crazy
Who ever at Loudwire came up with the concept of 'Wikipedia, fact or fiction' deserves a promotion. It is the perfect vehicle for getting interviewees more open (because it's a chance to set the record straight) and to get audiences more interested (because this is the real story, from the horses mouth).
Dan is the best monster riff writer since James Hetfield
Love Disturbed and Dan but Bill Kelliher would like to have a word...
@@christopherbodigon9166
Does he write most of Mastodon's music? I've never heard that.
@@hinjurock as far as main riffs go, yes. Iron Tusk is so damn amazing. Not hating...I have a disturbed half sleeve tat.
@@christopherbodigon9166
I've never heard that - their music is collectively credited to Mastodon, not to any individual members. But I would think that Brett Hinds, Troy Sanders and Brann Dailor write the majority of their riffs/songs, since they're the lead singers and lyricists. Bill Kelliher is just the rhythm guitarist.
Dan was my inspiration to start playing guitar.
BUCKETHEAD.. I doubt he would do it for you.. But if you can get him on.. This Channel would be Amazing.
He’s an amazing maybe even the best guitarist
I saw disturbed in January and I cried during a reason to fight. Hits me in the feels
Donegan and Tremonti are the reasons I never stopped expanding my musical knowledge or developing my creativity on a guitar.
If I had to pick 2 guys who had the most influence on my musical knowledge development, it would be Mark, and then Dan as well. You, sir, know your stuff and you are my friend even though I have no idea who you are!
ME TOO 😀. And Jim Root!
dzonyyya Thanx! We need all the friends we can get these days. So I appreciate that very much, good sir.
Patrick Olivier C. Root is a good pick but did you know him and Thompson wanted guitar solos even back in the self-titled days but their producer informed them that the songs were amazing without the flashy guitaistry?
It was nothing less than a sincere Honor to see and hear the great Dan Donegan speak on his past and beginning stages in his career. Excellent fucking video!
His son plays on my football team and whenever he is not on tour he always helps coach us
Ben Burnley fact or fiction please
Yesssssssss
I think my picture speaks for itself
Adam gontier Fact or Fiction PLEASEEEEEEE
john A. YES!!!!
Yassss!
I'm guessing there are many like me, who would like to see a Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction with a current member of Metallica. Please, Loudwire?
I'm almost positive they have tried!
Glad to see these guys are still going! My daughter and I saw them in 2009. They are a great live band!
Still waiting for a "They do get that wrong some times" Shirt.
Gotta respect Donegan. In my ear, he is one of the greatest, up there with John 5, Jerry Cantrell & Adam Jones! These guys MADE the music guys... someone else sang to it and made it popular. But the guitar is so important. Sometimes I feel like they dont get the respect they deserve.
To all of you saying Dan is underrated, Dan doesn't get to solo live so much, blah blah blah. If you watch the making of Indestructible here on RUclips it explains he didn't want all that. He is the most humble guy I've ever seen in metal.
I liked the long hair better
He is one of the greatest riff master... 🤘🤘
And Soloist are very underrated.
Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Seether, & Adam Gontier Should All Do Wikipedia: Fact Or Fiction Episodes
Dan is propably the most underrated guitarist ever lol. Not really but one of them.
Such an underrated guitarist who can fucking shred and play tight
Can you please do this with Breaking Benjamin
Lmao they are far from underrated
They’ve sold over 7 million records. Far from underrated. They’re not even that great of a band either. He has a good voice, but they’re cliché rock with a tried and overdone formula.
@@heisenberg3024 they're a pretty great band
GuardianChaos Fuck Yes. I love Breaking Benjamin
Why? They're even lamer than Shinedown, and they make Nickleback sound like Slayer by comparison.
I really enjoyed this interview. It's always interesting to learn more about other band members and a band as a whole. And Dan seems like a nice and down to earth guy.
the audition that Dan elaborated on with Dave, with an original song actually gave birth to the song 'Want'.
I love this guy a lot
King Diamond fact or fiction please
tried to hide long hair in youth; has a mohawk today. I liked the long hair he had in the early years of Disturbed better than the short he has now
The greatest guitarist to ever live
His Riffs Are Chaotic 🔥
I worked on an album for Dan's band Vandal. Really great music. "Vandal - You Want It? You Got it!"
Dan is a great guitarist, very underrated
About time
Eff...that clip of Chester and Chris...my feels...
This guy is in my top ten greatest. Always has been. Name a bigger band from his era and genre, you can’t.
Slipknot and System of a Down are both bigger bands, but disturbed is real close
I really enjoy watching these. Keep up the good work.
Just something I noticed: The title says "Disturbed" but Donegan isn't the whole band. I know I sound petty but you could've just said "Dan Donegan from Disturbed" or something
Noticed that too. I guess it could be that they ask him more about the band than about himself. But both topics are touched in both this interview and the one with David so now I'm clueless
I strongly agree thats some bull
Please get daron malakian in on this
7:25 question comes straight from the making of indestructible docu
Ian Blom I thought the same thing!!! I knew the answer that yes those were true
THEY DO GET THAT WRONG SOMETIMES
Do one with Daron Malakian!

Dan is so underrated as a guitar player
Dan is an awesome guy and a fantastic guitarist
Love this talented guitarist! Soooooo underrated
wanna see them one day in nashville tn can’t wait to meet the guys though i’m socially awkward
I want to see one with Rick Allen of Def Leopard, John Corabi formally of Motley Crue and Union, and John Bush, of armored saint and anthrax
Really wish I could meet these guys they're definitely my favorite musicians
I didn't know Val Venis was the guitarist for Disturbed. 😂😂😂
Finally
I’ve met him a few times. He’s such a cool dude to talk to
Such a nice, down to earh dude!

they do get that wrong sometimes
Despite all they hate they get, I really think their discography is pretty ROCK solid... Or rather it was until Evolution. The first big dud of their career, imo.

we need a 'You don't get that playing the banjo' shirt (John 5 episode)
Illinois Entertainer got me many band members.
They get that wrong sometimes
Disturbed fans how do you feel about the band currently? I felt Evolution was one of the most disappointing albums ever. I like old Disturbed a lot, but Evolution was a whole bunch of ballads and not much metal like the band was known for.
I think the success of their cover of The Sound of Silence shifted the direction of Evolution. Really no edge to the album like we have come to enjoy and expect from such a hard-working group. I think they will be back with something heavier next time around, let's hope anyway.
I was really disappointed with Evolution as well. Even the heavier songs on it were very restrained. It was like what your grandma thinks is heavy. Was not a big fan.
I was bummed. Ballads are fine, but why half the album. I dunno, just wasn't into it.
Can we get Wes Borland for the next Wikipedia episode?
Was gruhamed not his real name?
nice
