And indeed we are so much stuck in negativity, that we don't see our privileges, our good sides..

I’ve always respected you deeply , Sir, now I love you as deeply. I strongly believe that most of us-Armenians are like you (the type, that’s described as “great people “), unfortunately on a daily basis we deal with the least of us. Thank you, Eric, keep doing what you’re doing.

I cringed a bit when I saw the description of the interview because I felt Eric Hacopian isnhimself becoming an idol for some Civilnet colleagues or diasporans. But the contents of the interview was fine as the focus was mostly on the diaspora and Armenia and NOT on the individual represented by the guest. The positions espoused by Eric can be open to arguments and debate but he always raises very important, substantive issues, he always senses where the crux of the matter is, and he shows you why/how he's arrived at his conclusions so you can challenge him on it rationally...fornthebmost part he is not mistaking his own opinions for universal truths that cant be challenged. Thank you, I learnt a lot.

For this hour of conversation here is a suggested useful educational task a teacher might set for late or post tertiary education students.
    1. From this conversation select five observations made by either Eric Hacopian or Emilio Leo Cricchio.
    2. Prepare footnotes with supporting bibliographic references to either support, oppose, dig deeper into or extend each observation. Extra marks will be given for multidisciplinary references, eg drawing on studies in sociology, psychology, history, political science, economics etc.
    3. The task then is to deliver five substantive footnotes of about half to a full page in length.
    4. When all work is delivered each student will orally present their work to the class for a general group discussion.

    My wishlist:
    1. Timecode for the questions
    2. Have this show regularly
    3. Maximum 5-6 topics and talk them through (10 minutes each)

Eric is an interesting figure. It is so nice to see a educated man who cares about Armenia and its people. It is also fascinating that he fancies western ideals while deploring what these ideals lead to. I look forward to seeing more of his work,. I do not always agree with him but i greatly appreciate his efforts and intellect.

Agree with amount of negativity in Armenian media. Aren’t they tired of reporting too much of negativity. And there seems to be luck of professionalism in journalism in Armenia. You can tell it by the quality of questions journalists ask during foreign diplomats press conferences

A lot of Armenians who were raised in America that visit Armenia when they are adults all say one common thing. That thing is the attitude of the people in Armenia and specifically the brash and somewhat arrogant attitude that exists to some degree in everyone from the taxi driver all the way up to the high-ranking statesman. During my visit to Armenia, almost every taxi driver I encountered was either a retired wealthy man that was driving a taxi as a hobby to overcome boredom or was a retired 5-star general who enjoyed driving and much rather do that than sit at home. Plus every single man had the blueprint on how to run the country down to a science so much so that there was no room for any input but his own. Yet the nation is one of the poorest in the world which says maybe we should start listening/observing instead of thinking we know everything. It is not the intellect of the people that I am questioning but the lack of unity and over-inflated ego. This new president has brought some changes in this area and hopefully he succeeds as the country desperately needs to progress to catch up with the rest of the world. Its a big improvement from the previous administrations where the peoples voice didn't matter and the elites did as they pleased and therefore people walked around with a chip on their shoulder. It will take some time but I do see a better future for Armenia.

I have trouble respecting Eric, because of his words regarding the spike protean shots...I will listen just the same...
If interested...Faith is based on logic. Otherwise it's just superstition or a belief...for example it isn't Jesus that will save, but His taught Logic, as We know, a part of our daily bread is a powerful immune system, as well as brains, guts, movements strategy. It means you have everything you need to live a solid good life.....We are all gifted a talent,...teach, preach, sing or be a mother and be happiest expressing your talent to it's infinite expression as God is Infinite.... as asked of us, He said.. 'Know thyself.'..you would know that you are not from God but Of God. We are all the " individualized " Devine expression of God...the only valid prayer is to thank God for the gift he gave..

With all due respect, Mr. Hacopian sounds like a left wing ideologue when it comes to vaccination. In the footsteps of Noam Chomsky and Co.?
If he didn't do his research, it is puzzling to say the least. If he did, it is a blow to his credibility.

  • @zoodhye

Eric has wishful thinking and thinks by his heart and not his brain. I understand people who move to Armenia from Middle Eastern countries but not from western countries where they can prosper and help Armenia. We need successful people in the West so they can lobby our case and help Armenia in many ways. Declaring that living in Armenia is better than USA is ludicrious. Armenia has a long way to go to be a good place to live. One must have income from outside to be able to live in Armenia comfortably.
No cultural issues in Armenia?!! he must be delusional.
Eric, don't let us lose respect for you....think rational and don't insult the local people in Armenia!

Not necessarily. Opportunities can be different in each country depending on your expertise. For low education workers who for example moved from turkey to germany there was no future in turkey and when they moved to germany, they gave them and their children a chance for education and success. Moving back is a move that very, very successful people do, if they see there is even a greater success in your old country.
The most convenient way is always to stay where you are.
