This video just saved me so much money. I purchased a nice Yashica Mat 124 yesterday in good condition for 200 dollars, but lo and behold, the shutter wouldn't fire. I found it was due to a stuck self timer and that flat pin you mention (around the 20-25 min mark in your video) was the culprit. Moved it out of the way with some pliers, and reassembled. Work's like a charm. I still have some issues with the shutter button not firing the shutter all the way correctly time to time, but that's a later fix. I am very satisfied and immensely thankful to you.
thank you very much, excellent and patiently tutorial..with your video I could repair a stuck aperture and selftimer in a Yashica 12 with a Copal SV.. Andreas
I have a Yashica D in very nice condition but it has a slow shutter @ >1/2 second. I'm guessing this camera is very similar. Have you had any experience with the model D and if so, would this video give a pretty good detail as to the procedure for the model D? Any help would be appreciated. :)
Mikeno, your videos are very helpful. I'm having issues with the part that fires the shutter, just to the left of where your slow great sits in this video. Do you have any videos that show how this piece works?
Mike, great library you have of repairs and tune ups. Would you have information on getting the focus cams in correct timing for a Yashica 44LM. Thanks
Thank's Lavikka, yes I have work with the Mamiya C330 and it's a problem with the more poor material they have use, compare with the older camera body's (C33, C3, they was better made). You need to take the botton plate off to get into the shutter button, the way they have made this construction is not that good because of poor material. maybe you also need to take off the winder side plate, sometimes part's there are also not good.
What would be the possible cause of the shutter only opening in slower shutter speeds? Mine seems to open fine unless it’s the shutter speed is at 250 or 500 then it won’t open.
I am planning to buy yashica 635. The seller said everything except timer are working. Does yashica 44 and 635 have same or similar mechanical for the timer?
Hi there. Your channel is great. Thanks for the videos. Just a question: How about the shutter blades fail to form light tight closure. What might cause this issue? I have a German TLR (weltaflex with vebur shutter), everything looks and works good mechanically but I noticed I can see a very little amount of light passing through the blades. I don't know whether it's worth (and possible) to fix it. :-/
Thank's, it could be a wornout shutter or maybe too much dirt and dust in the shutter. But I found some info here: www.rangefinderforum.com/classics/forum/messages/2/22414.html?1315049951 And here: pheugo.com/cameras/index.php?page=compur&WEBMGR=89eaa9ce05ff49a9f1a98c1c7028a2f9
my yashica rapide seems to have similar problems. I‘ll try to fix it with the help of this video once i‘m ready, thank you!:)

This was so satisfying to watch. Happy Victory!
Thank you Mikeno for this video! I repaired the slow speeds and the self-timer of my Yashica 44 LM successfully. Good job; o)
Great!, I'm happy to know that :-)

Oooh that's great to know Andreas, and it's a great camera to repair, it's all metal parts.
Yes, my first TLR..but the meter does not work properly..the battery is ok, the red arrow reacts somehow but the yellow one not at all..a pity..greets

Thank's Carlos, but I do not at the moment have info about the focus cam, maybe sooner.
Mike I recently got a yashica a that behaves exactly like that, doesn't fire. Thing is am scared of opening it up lest I damage it
Great video, should you not change the shutter speed dial when its cocked though?
Great video! have you done the Mamiya C330? On that one my shutter is ok but the shutter button on the body is jammed.

Thanks. I will try that this weekend.
thanks for sharing, great video!
Thank you very much for this tutorial, Do you think this is also relevant for Yashica-C ?
Does this disassembly is same as for the yashica mat 124g? Thanks! Great vid as always!

what kind of liquid do you use to clean the machine inside. Many thanks. This is a great video.
I use lighter fluid to clean the slow gear and the self-timer, I then lube the axle end's only with very thin clockwork oil.
I have just aquired a Yashica 635 and all shutter speeds sound the same exept for B. Will this method work for this model too?
In many cases It would be the solution, but of course, there could also be some other issues.
@@mikeno62 thanks. I just opened it and cleaned like in the video but still all shutter speeds are the same
good work, as usual! ;-D

So is the self timer another slow gear then? I am seeing some common items from your videos. I’m also getting confidence that I shouldn’t have.
There are 2 Gear's, the one is the slow gear and the other is the self-timer
long time no see!
Hello, I need help please!! All the shutter speeds are ok except 15 and 30, they are around 1/2 second. But the other slow speeds are ok
Then you need to take out the slow gear and clean it with lighter fluid and then, then lube the axle end's only with very thin clockwork oil.
