slammed a like down at the beginning of the video as soon as you mentioned getting a review code/copy bc man, that's just amazing and exciting thing for longtime fans to get!
cannot believe you didn't mention the best custnavi program, humor , especially after making that fishing net joke later.
i also played the ds copy of 5! I do not remember anything about it except liberation missions and the bottom screen layout. It always made me feel like we really did have a PET though, or the closest we could get, especially with megaman on the screen or the menus
i will say that one is semi-essential, if only for the /ending/, but yeah definitely playing with buster max to get the hang of it or to get thru slogs and annoying dungeon puzzles (i wound up just keeping it on except for like, boss fights), but my first game was 3 so i was like HUH-WHA when they brought up the recurring spoiler of 1. like i thought it was metaphorical the first time (and if I knew if youtube had spoiler tags like discord, I'd def just say it here, but, well.)
I'm also sad they didn't do the spinoffs (I had never known about the bn1 ds remake until this year!!! or the chip battle game-- or maybe i had heard of it before), so maybe hopefully they'll release like. ....well it's too late for dlc but maybe they'll release another mini thing or something
also cannot wait to see if they make a sf collection too, especially bc I do not wanna play over my ds files with all the battle/match/multiplayer data I have on there (it's not much, but dangit! I wanna keep that saved like people do family photos!!!) I heard that BN legacy outsold some of the other megaman legacy collections? so hopefully that's a good sign! maybe they'll combine some of those unreleased (or unofficially translated) spinoffs and bn5 DS into a SF collection, just to help fill that collection out a bit more, but I really hope that mmbn doing so well means there's hope for SF!
anyways it was super adorable seeing how hard you were trying not to geek-fan out, or keep it in a controlled enough way to get a video out! It's super clear how much you love these games and how much they mean to you, and I'm so glad to have come across your video in a recommended feed!

I have been seeing a lot of RUclipsrs cover these games recently that were all very passionate about these games. However, the RUclips viewer attention for these videos covering these games has seemed to be underwhelming for all of them. If you are truly passionate about these games and enjoyed having the chance to make this video, I really do hope this video performs well for you. Definitely going to watch all the way through this video a few times and drop a like because I really admire RUclipsrs taking a hit to cover something they personally enjoy and want to support RUclipsrs that do it however I can. I wish your video the best of luck with the algorithm.

It's so surreal seeing this series suddenly pop up over night, just as quickly as it had vanished. They recorded that the collections had made 1mil in sales already, in less than a full month. I'm also happy to see a lot of my YT regulars covering it and even revealing that they've been long time fans. Back in the day, it always felt like it was just me and my brother, but nah, there's a whole group of old net battlers out there...and now new ones to join the ranks.

Yeah it's pretty crazy. This series was one of the most popular MegaMan spinoffs when it came out, yet none of the games could break the 1.4 million unit sales in their entire life time....
But now 18 years later since the last BN game, a collection of them is good enough to sell over a million units within 2 weeks of its release.
It's an amazing time to be a Battle Network fan!

something from these games that hit me in the feels is if you walk into dex's house in one of the games and interact with his console, Lan will talk about how old games can still be fun and its quite possibly one of the most emotional moments ive had in a minute with games, here i am playing a old game from my childhood and its talking about it still being fun T-T its just a moment that aged beautifully

    • @Garrulous64
      @Garrulous64  Год назад

The dungeons can be frustrating. Another reason Max Bustet Mode is a good idea! Now puzzles in dungeons should flow a little better even with random encounters
6 makes this a lot better by not having random encounters during certain events. Happens a lot, makes me wish it happened more often.

@@Garrulous64 well this was the era when games were leaving the lets be hard to add gametime. Cause originally games were pressed for space, so content was made to be hard to pad game time. The 00s to 10s, is when companies started expand content, cause they had the space to build, so games have gotten easier, cause alot of the easy stuff is QoL, games now auto save, games dont have ambiguous things to do to progress. Compare mmbn1 to 6, and there's a huge shift just in how gameplay improved. Compare Pokémon gen 1 to gen 5, games were harder to make it feel like you need to get your moneys worth of time. Star force may not sell as well cause the way battles are done are different. I think star force was too different to sell well, mmbn, is kinda broken into 2 groups, ppl who want mmbn3 pvp and mmbn6 pvp. The 3rd doesn't have souls its chip fluidity and skill, mmbn6 is sooo meta I can't get into it, souls, chips are now in * code more than ever, navicust gets broken cause you can put programs outside the grid. So star force would be even smaller...

Fun fact on that VA note for the DS version of BN5, the voiceover was recorded at same place as the later MegaMan X games(Command Mission, X8, Maverick Hunter X), Blue Water Studios.
Jeffery Watson was also the voice of Axl, while Lan in this game was voiced by Mark Gatha, the titular MegaMan X.

@@FoxyPercival714 Double Team DS lists Gatha as Lan and Watson as MegaMan.EXE in the game’s credits.
In the anime, Lan is voiced by Brad Swaile(Light from Death Note, Ray Amuro and Setsuna F Seiei in the Gundam franchise) for a majority of the English dub outside some early episodes, while Andrew Francis voiced MegaMan.EXE.
This difference in casting is mainly because the game and the anime were done at different studios.
Ocean Group, the people who dubbed early DBZ for Funimation before they started dubbing in-house, handled the Mega Man anime at Ocean Studios in Vancouver, while their subsidiary Blue Water Studios in Calgary, handled the Mega Man games at the time.

It's so cool to see all of the BN love since the collection released! BN5 was the first game in the series I was able to get when it came out and replaying through the liberation missions to get the other rewards after I improved my folder was a lot of fun. I've been having a ton of fun with the collection so far and seeing how well this game has been doing gives me hope that the SF Collection will have the same love and care put into it. Hopefully they can include the REZON cards and S.S.S. content for SF3 and the Wave Battle Cards for 2. I'm not sure how thrilled I am to play through SF1 again though, especially after seeing the changes that were made for the DX patch but it'll be awesome to have these games preserved and playable on more modern hardware

Battle Network 2 has its own unique charm and I love it, but ranking it above 3 is a super spicy take. There were just so many improvements. The NaviCust, virus breeding, enemy navis have more varied patterns instead of doing the same attack over and over like QuickMan, FreezeMan, ToadMan, SnakeMan, etc from BN2 (and Bass is not a complete pushover anymore)

Oh boy, playing Mega Man Battle Network except playing the beginning bits over and over, losing all your favourite battle chips whenever you make a mistake. Greeeeeeaaaaat.
I would have completely ignored Legacy Collection if they didn't have online play. I have the original cartridges, and the Wii U Virtual Console editions, and a Gamecube & Gameboy Player, if I wanted to play the originals on the big screen, I already have multiple ways to do so. Online play was the only reason for me to pick this up.
