True. I remember they introduce money transfer through internet. My kids self thought it was stupid (considering all the cybercrime that happens in the game). But look what we have today, almost all transaction done online
So basically, for the majority of the games, it is best to play them on the Legacy Collection versions, except for BN1 where the DS version is arguably better thanks to the gameplay overhauls that it received. Neat.
BN1 play OSS with fantranslation. austin nails OSS changes really well BN5 DT DS is the way to go. the enhanced music that is far higher quality and IMO sounds great better UI map and playable navis anywhere is just a far better experience. i will say tho the voice acting legit sucks in the DS version and there are mods that remove it which id recommend.
ADDENDUM: An Update on 10.12.23 has removed Denuvo. An update on 7.3.23 made the following changes: There's now a black border option as well as a language voice select for Mega Man. Additionally, custom screen time in pvp was increased to 30 seconds. There were various bug fixes as well, including the bugged BN6 english Virus Battle rewards that are highlighted in this video. Patch notes here www.capcom-games.com/megaman/exe/en-uk/topics/update/
I already knew that Mega Man's Voice Actor from Mega Man NT Warrior reprised his role in the legacy collection, but I didn't knew the same happened for Rockman.EXE's Voice Actor from the Rockman.EXE Series.
What sucks is the The Updates of DoubleTeam and OSS were just overlooked entirely. We didn't even get the option to use Double Team's Alternate Soundtrack.
Been playing a bit of the collection and the games are still great. Buster Max Mode makes it easy to just skip pass a lot of the random battles. But I reallh wish they added a map toggle to every game like how they were added into Operation Shooting Star and Double Team DS
So none of the games have any sort of map? That’s the one that really makes the random encounters annoying. I wouldn’t mind them if I knew I was heading in the correct way.
Now it's the perfect time to JACK IN~!! Also, same here! ^^ I played MMBN5 Double Team on DS a little bit YEARSSS ago, like around 2008 or so, and it was fun, but I think now I'd probably have a whole lot more fun with it! ^^ I just don't have enough money to buy the collection (I'd like to buy both volumes in one) right now XD But some dayyy
So many changes, oh my! The MMBN community is one that really did a heck of a job reporting on all of this, and thank you for covering it in this video! Catch you in the next one!
I'm still torn if I should get the Legacy Collection because of the lack of Double Team DS features. BN5DS' Party Nav feature is great to have when backtracking around certain areas for things you've missed. It's cool not to have to worry as much about healing Megaman in tougher areas when waiting for Omega versions of bosses to show up, not to mention using said party in that battle. I guess the 100x buster fixes this issue, but the party system felt more special to use. The music and sound overhaul also make it feel way better than the GBA games in my opinion.
yeah, I'm glad they have the patch cards, but its still a bit of a let down. I know it wasn't much, but not having those small additions from the DS version (party battle system, transporter chips, updated character portraits etc.) does make it difficult for me to play BN5 on the legacy collection, instead of replaying my DS copy of the game.
I hope they patch out the problem with megaman battle network 6 problem so I won't need to switch to japanese just to get that battle chip. My friend who I would've teamed up with had passed away before the battle network legacy collection got a release date. I went into my day surgery crying. I'm depressed because if I never had my niece November in my life I don't know if I would've been this excited.
For some reason I was under the impression the DS version of 5 was supposed to let you put together a team, choosing between the 2 games' counterparts at each step. That would've been pretty cool! I'll still play it eventually though, I play these games so much I might as well 100% all of it if the version is available and functions well.
Really commend the work put into this video. Very detailed and informative, some of this stuff I didn’t even KNOW was different, and I’m a diehard BN fan. Great work. 👍
Generally, Legacy Collection is the best nowadays, easy access and has online with mod cards. But for 100%? Naw, id say WiiU VC is best for that, theres no reliance on other players/buying online subscription/buying another console and game. You get to 100% purely with just the 1 game, which is very good at keeping frustration down. But if you dont care about 100%, the collection is the best way with being able to play online and having modcards, just hope it gets bugfixes cuz ive had some crashes that arent fun.
Man i used to play these through my whole middle school time even the one on GameCube early to mid 2000s , had more time to sit and play through them all back then, haven't gotten time to sit through em on the PS4 version.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO! I'm halfway through MMBN1 on GBA but I'm just going to switch to the DS version and restart from the beginning. The dungeons are INSANELY hard and frustrating in the GBA version without a mini-map. I don't know how they expected kids to get through these!!!!!
Man I remember having MMBN for GBA but I'll be damned if I can remember if I beat it. I've been circling the Legacy Collection for awhile and I might pull the trigger!
Got questions about the screen sizes. 1) Is Largest an integer scale, or is Large the biggest integer scale? 2) Is shimmering not seen in largest and seen elsewhere, or is it just not there whatsoever? I didn't fully understand what the video said about that, so any clarification would be appreciated.
All in all, it sounds like I won't regret getting the collection- I have really only played 2 and 3 back in the day and always wanted to experience more of them, but not hunt them down for my old GBA and pay way more than this will cost. Now to hope for a Legends re-release so I won't have to pay THOSE prices either... even if they'll probably release StarForce before Legends collection, if they ever will...
3:35 You mention corrections, but both translations seem accurate. In the original Japanese (top left), she's saying she was making hotcakes. In the re-released Japanese (bottom left), she says she's making apple pie. So I guess there wasn't actually a correction to the translation there? Unless she was making an apple pie the whole time, but the original script was wrong? Sorry, I'm not too familiar with the cooking elements of the MMBN series! haha
The one thing I was waiting and hoping was resouluton tweaks so I could play on fullscreen. Even though this is 2D game, it is possible. But dunno how hard it is to tweak it so the game renders more. I know that many menus and and such do need rework and additional content for that ( If I could do it, I would ) . Yeah.. I want too much, I know.. xD
how do you get the pc version to work, when i try to open either volume, it gets stuck at a white window and then crashes, but i can run the provided roms in Tango, so atleast there's that. im on window 10.
So no one is gonna talk about the Battle Network 4 Castillo Theme being different from the gba version? or is just me because as someone who grew up with BN4 Red Sun and have 100% plus 22 continues back when I was I Kid so I hope someone can agree with me on this one.
has anyone been able to get all the count megachips for megaman 6 ps4 without using the crossover points trader. because i got every other megachip i need but haven't faced bass so i can't get the bat symbol to face the count. for the legacy collection.
It's actually hilarious that for the Legacy Collection the American version of MegaMan is the deepest voiced 11 year old of all time, while the Japanese casting was done by a sane person. I've been playing the GBA games on my Game Boy Player and only got the Legacy Collection recently for the convenience of not carrying carts with me when I can have them on Steam Deck. It's looking like the Steam version might be the best way to play them at home too. I do wish they'd included Network Transmission though.
You can see how bad the Wii U Virtual Console Emulation was just from the Thumbnail alone, I wonder why Nintendo made every game have a dim dark look to it and the aspect ratio can be too small at times. DS emulation on it wasn’t the best either and you needed the Gamepad for it too.
get the steam version of lc, switch will be made obsolete with the rise of many steamos compatible portable consoles such as the steam deck and asus rog as well as ayaneo
Ha you talk like everyone had money to get those expensive portable PC. I'm pretty sure the majority of people who bought the Legacy Collection were former GBA gamers or want a physical collection of it on actual consoles like the Switch and PS4. If they want a digital versions they wouldn't bother with Legacy Collection on Steam Deck, they would had just download the original GBA roms of those already on other countless cheaper Chinese emulation devices.
Who would have thought a MegaMan game that came out in the early 2000's whose main premise involves the Internet would be so relevant today
Bruh battle network devs definitely have hideo kojima power to predict everything what's gonna happen in the future 😂
True. I remember they introduce money transfer through internet. My kids self thought it was stupid (considering all the cybercrime that happens in the game). But look what we have today, almost all transaction done online
Don't forget NetNavis. Apple's Siri and Amazon Alexa resemble NetNavis, plus Vocaloid and VTubers as well. Battle Network was WAY ahead of its time!

Re-uploaded to update the endslate. Shouldn't have taken half the day to render and upload but here we are
I'm kind of surprised by the Boktai crossover given the different publishers.
It was a pleasant surprise as Boktai was a Kojima series, but thankfully Konami is generous with their IPs lately
It’s a rumor, but IIRC, Kojima’s son loved BN so Kojima talked to Capcom to make this happen.

Battle network 4 was my favorite due to dark chips and music
That HD filter is horrible. It makes the sprites look like it sat out in the sun to melt
