    I really love the 20 second countdown. It's probably the best thing Capcom has added to the collection (besides online play). It really killed the pace when people spent entire minutes just staring at their chips doing nothing, so forcing people to actually think on the spot makes matches way more entertaining.

      I think a timer for each Cust menu turn is absolutely necessary and valid. I just don't like the 20 second timer. 35-40 seconds is definitely a better number so that players have more time to develop a stronger turn.

      @@sirgarde2293 rather than ban set some limits. Like only x amount of chip from group a or whatever. Make people pick which of there meta chips to take.

    • @thanderhop1489
      @thanderhop1489 Год назад +4

      @@sirgarde2293 Problem there is that a lot of chips that were mega chips in BN3-5 became standard chips in BN6, which was one of the few things that game did wrong imo. Lots of people run Sanctuary, Life Aura, Atk +30, Double Pt, Bug Fix, and Full Cust all in one folder. Ordinarily, that would be 6 mega chips right there already.
      If they were still correctly designated as mega chips, people would still run them, but they would compete with your eraseman, judgeman, and elementman for utility, and they would totally crowd out hard hitting SP chips like Groundman, Protoman, and Blastman. (And btw, if the folders we're talking about lost their navi chips due to using their mega slots on sanctuary, life aura, attack +30, full cust, and bug fix in one of them, they'd be left with just 1 attacking chip: Colonel Force. Seems like a kinda sacky meta to be encouraging when your only offensive plan is having one specific chip work.
      It's not exactly like that of course because you get some extra offense from your crosses (especially something like slash with area grab) and your beast out charge attacks. This however is actually another factor unique to BN6 that makes folders like these possible (you can convert some of your unneeded support chips into damage using beast out). It does seem odd and sorta contrary to the folder building spirit of the BN series for your folder to be built to make your crosses good rather than your crosses making your folder good so to speak.
      If people wanted to experiment with a sort of "banlist" to shake things up, I would suggest starting by taking all the "legacy mega chips" and requiring that they be treated as actual mega chips for the purposes of folder building. Maybe then people would build folders with a good amount of standard chips intended to deal damage (idk, put in a bunch of aqua chips and use aqua cross, put in a bunch of cursor chips and use erase cross, etc).

    • @thanderhop1489
      @thanderhop1489 Год назад

      @@sirgarde2293 I really appreciate hearing your thoughts on this. Maybe as a thought experiment, we could theorize about how to directly counter the strategy we saw in this mirror match. If the ideas I suggest here can counter this and also just do generally well against other strategies, then I think that reflects some good overall healthiness and balance in the game.
      Goals: 1: Survive. 2: Deal more damage than our opponent.
      First, in light of goal 1, we want to analyze our opponent's offensive potential. That basically comes down to 3 things: 1: Colonel Force. 2: 5 navi chips (the big 3 and 2 more that are usually going to be harder hitting SP chips). 3: Cross charge attacks and beast out charge attacks.
      The main thing I notice there is that our opponent doesn't have very much offensive potential. As such, we probably don't need to run that much defense per se (since only about 6/30 chips of our opponent deal significant damage, it's not like we should feel that desperate to use invis or antidamage every turn). In light of goal 2, it seems like we get better value by trying to suppress our opponent's offense with our own offense rather than running more defense than our opponent's offense calls for.
      Idea 1: Run anti navi and beat. Countering navi chips like this proportionally affects our opponent's offense more than usual when they don't run very much else.
      Idea 2: Focus on cross breaking. We want to bring a decent amount of chips that break the most offensively dangerous crosses. These are basically all the gregar crosses (maybe the fire crosses are the least dangerous, but they have double the representation). We don't want to only plan for fighting gregar even though that's how this thought experiment started, so we'll also mention tomahawk (2x3 charge attack is dangerous with just 1 areagrab, and the status guard is extra reason to plan for this), and we also want to bring cursor chips if we can since they break traps and falzar has 2 breaking crosses (I would say this is of secondary importance). If we break our opponent's crosses, they start running out of offense very quickly.
      Idea 3: Run a good amount of HP. We probably need at least +800 or +1000 in the navicust to avoid getting sacked by colonel force. If we have the more offensive strategy, we want the battle to go the distance so we have time to prove it.
      Idea 4: Run slow gauge. If our opponent runs triple invis *, we want to not let that stall out an entire turn. We also want to have time to use our buster to bait out anti damage so our chips aren't blocked. We also want to invest in our buster so our cross charge attacks also deal good damage to complement our use of slow gauge. I do find it interesting looking at the folder submissions that one player ran double slow gauge while the other ran double fast gauge. Interesting stylistic difference despite running similar folders.
      Idea 5: Given our more limited space for staples, prioritize field control over defense. No matter what, we still have to avoid getting areagrabbed and beaten down early by cross charge shots or colonel force, and we have to deal with sanctuary and life aura. Therefore, we need to bring our own areagrabs, grab revenge, panel breaking (in case we need our elementman * for something else), wind racks, etc. However, we probably don't need to bring triple invis and triple anti damage and stuff like that.

      This is BN6 yes! It's by far the best multiplayer experience. BN2 is a fun game for single player but possibly the least balanced for PvP unfortunately

      @@fatherofrose4027 Nah, the N1GP is buddies with the major English Speaking speedrun community for the BN Games, so we're just drowning in guides for stuff like All Chips across the games, alongside other useful ones, throw in people doing trades and its not that hard to build a library fast, especially if you don't spend time clearing 1-5 first like most casual folks are doing

    Was there a chip ban list or something? Because these chip folders are poorly built. Also, I didn't want to play through 6 in time for this tournament but I wish I did because it did not look like either of these players knew what they were doing. Maybe I didn't understand the rules or something but both these players needed to be way more aggressive

    Oh nah they definitely ruined online player with the timer and damage gauge

    • @scoutmasterdemi
      @scoutmasterdemi  Год назад +1

      Damage gauge isn't new but the timer is absolutely way too short.... Even an extra 10 seconds would be huge

    • @syrelian
      @syrelian Год назад +1

      Damage Judge is actually a vanilla feature, that was how the game always worked, the Custom Timer is painfully short though, 10-20 more seconds would help a lot

    • @iroison
      @iroison Год назад

      i feel like the 20 seconds is good 3 turns taking a min for customization is good where as 30 seconds for two turns nah

    • @syrelian
      @syrelian Год назад +1

      @@iroison As someone who has played a lot of PvP before the collection came out, 20 is very much too short, 30-40 is more appropriate considering that you're pre-planning an entire turns worth of interactions, including predictions
      Solo play, 20 would be fine(but pointlessly frustrating), things are simply and clean and most of the time your hand prep is just figuring out how you wanna deal damage, with minimal defensive planning, but its not the same for PvP
