    Fine job indeed... chap! (British slang) ESPECIALLY knowing what they really looked like... LOL! There they were, unloved and unwanted at a flea market in Michigan needing someone to play with them, and were rescued. And then they became battle hardened wargaming veterans of the battles of Balaclava, Inkerman, and Alma here in Michigan (I have pics to prove it). One man's junk is another man's TREASURE!!! And you make diamonds from miniatures through your truly talented "refining" process! Just have to have the Siege of Sebastol battle and they will be complete!

    Excellent video and fascinating channel. Thank you so much for sharing and discussing your journey. How on earth you've found the time (not to mention expense) to paint and base so many figures and maintain your family is beyond me!
    One question if I may. Given that you've been collecting for so long, and like refurbishing older type figures, how have you coped with scale creep as figure size has literally grown over the years? For example, I love my 2nd Generation Minifig Napoleonics (out of production for 30 plus years), but finding figures that I can mix in with such is quite problematic. For me, Essex is about the last existing range that matches my collection in size, if not in style. I live close to AB figures, but they are gigantic compared to my old minifigs. Fortunately (although very expensive), eBay has in the past come to my rescue, and my collection is close to completion.
    Anyway, great stuff, and once again, thanks for sharing. Cheers.

      @@buckospiffle594 your very right. It is expensive. I have been fortunate in my work to have been able to finance the hobby and take care of my family.
      Scale creep is a thing but just different products right.
      Old glory 15mm is what I used for my Napoleonics. In this recent video I have minifigs as you can see but also old glory mixed in. It’s hard to tell really. I keep them separate but on the table no one notices even me notices much really. Old minifigs can be quite small. You could try rank and file figures or peter pig but in essence your right. I have not put up my Napoleonics yet for RUclips but will do so soon.
      eBay and shows are good for getting older figures As you can see from mine sometimes it pays off.

    And I thought my Crimean Russian army was big. I did the forces at Alma using Rank and File and Minifigs. The Brits were fun to do. The French okay and the Russians became an exercise in tedium. Of course that was before I knew what doing the Franco-Prussian War would be like. Nice army

    Looks like all the troops from different sources came together well. I’m doing something similar with 15mm ACW. Some were purchased new, some were 2nd hand in various stages of painting completion. As long as the old paint isn’t too thick and is still adhering, I can try to add shade & highlighting to match my own painting.

    Could you do a video on your basing standard? It seems like all your armies are based the same way on squares. Do you use them all for one system or do you just modify the rules to work for your universal basing scheme ?

    • @thekrausecollection15mmmin53
      @thekrausecollection15mmmin53  2 месяца назад +2

      @@kirestus hi good morning and greetings from Georgia. You’re right most of my armies are based in the same way. I have my reasons for it, but I would say 80% of my armies are based on the multiples of 40 mm all of my ancient armies are on 80 mm frontage with either 40 or 60 mm depth. All my other armies are based on 40 mm as the stand. I found that I could comfortably get eight figures on that stand and still have a little room for grass, rocks or other plant life material. I also noticed that on a 40 mm stand when your gaming people tend to grab the stand and not the figures.
      Rules: I play with several different sets of rules, but I have been able to comfortably adapt those rules to my basing and my unit sizes by either using counters. I predominantly play with the warlord gaming system. But use general de Armee,for example with Napoleonics or other well written sets. I have found that the longer that you’ve been gaming the more creative you are in adapting. And the older rule sets from the 60s 70s and 80s really want you to use their basing norm. The rules sets of the 90s and 2000s really allow you to have more basic flexibility because that was the deterrent always people don’t like to re base their armies.
      I know this is a long answer, but I found example with the cohen board, American Civil War or whatever time. I can make a unit size one stand or eight stands, depending on the kind of game that I want to achieve and I want to achieve. I have also become pretty flexible depending on my audience or time I have to play the game .

      @@thekrausecollection15mmmin53 awesome! thanks for taking the time to explain! I have been sticking with DBA / HOTT basing standard for my armies, most of the time i end up supplying both armies for a game so i can just modify the rules to work with what i have. my club also really likes to play Kings of War, when we do that i just blue tack my figures onto bigger bases in big clumps since the basing standard is really crucial for that game
