ACW Union Army 1861-1865

- This is my 15 mm representation in Miniature of the union armies of the Americans Civil War. I based them on 40 x 40 mm basis with between eight and nine figures per base. The figures are from old glory Miniature and also their blue moon range. It was painted over multiple years. And recently just touched up with new flags and basing.

I can certainly relate to just being fascinated with miniatures from childhood.
Yeah, this was my first love. You know the book my dad gave me had all these large maps in them with like little teeny representation of miniatures of regiments. And I could just imagine doing that of course that led to my first air fix purchase and lining them up in the dirt.
Gorgeous work as always! Just starting my journey into 15mm with some Old Glory 15s Confederates. Looking forward to seeing your collection
Yes, I’m going to put the confederacy up tomorrow and then you can take a look at that and maybe gain some inspiration. Thank you for your comments however that’s always nice to hear from you.

Yeah, they confederates. I’m hoping we’ll get up today. It’s equally impressive too very large nice armies. I’m glad you like them. I’m not really a great photographer and don’t do things as nicely as you do, but I’m trying.

Thanks I appreciate it and like your union army. It was fun to paint and put together. I’m about ready to launch the confederate one. They both mean a lot to me as I live right in the middle of Sherman‘s campaign. But I’m glad that you like it. I know it’s not 25s like you like but it’s only just a little bit shorter.😂😂

You know when you pull them out and you start photographing them you start to see all of the things that you could have done to make them better. And I’m sure I could keep working on them and working on them, adding little touches and little highlights and little and little Dad, but I think the way they are is pretty epic.

That is a quality collection Kevin. I have gone down the epic scale line as it is cheaper and more readily available here in New Zealand so it made sense. I have over 150 foot units (for both sides) thus far.
I agree with you about the difference between the epic scale and 15mm. I looked at at epic scale for Napoleonics but there is so much more nice stuff in 18mm and I can get AB Figures from Australia, so again it makes sense.
Oh, don’t get me wrong. I think it has brought a lot of people to our happy and I think they do look nice. The epic scale and the way they did. It really is smart and helps people get into the hobby and have nice armies. I just already had such a large 15 mm collection. And I would agree with you the AB figures are not surpassed by anybody. They are the most beautiful figures I could ever imagine. Little bit more difficult to get a hold of here in the United States. I would always choose them if I had the choice. Unfortunately, mine Polic collection are all old glory, and I already went down that rabbit hole.

Totally agree on the "epic scale", not really my speed. Also, I find manufacturers choosing awkward scales most irritating since it tends to limit leveraging other ranges to fill out gaps where they exist.

I agree, the epic scale just don’t have any character or soul, maybe if you are a newer player epic could nice especially with barrier to entry in regards to painting but for someone with your kind of collection it makes zero sense
You know I have nothing against the epic scale (12mm) and their idea is grand but not my style. They are packed so tight. But anyway I still like them and it has added more to our hobby. Thank you for your comments.

@@thekrausecollection15mmmin53 Per ACW io ho tutto...con basi per Fire&Fury 2°, per altro ho anche il reggimento vestito alla "bersagliere" di N.Y. se non ricordo male...
My Italian is not the best but I’m going to guess. I had everything based to Fire&Fury but changed it with larger bases. I have the italian Regiment Besaggeleri The Garibaldi Guard was the name of the 39th New York Infantry.
