      @@RolandKaufmann I mainly shoot automotive and aviation. Good autofocus and fast burst speed is what I'd like. Wouldn't be the end of the world to keep the slow burst rate of my 250D if I went with the Z5, the increase in low light, wider fov and better dynamic range would be nice to have. The two things I wanted to ask is how big is the Z50? Also how is the autofocus and burst speed? I shoot mainly photo but also looking to do more video. Thanks

    • @RolandKaufmann
      @RolandKaufmann  Год назад +1

      @@airmetalmedia the Z50 is a really compact little camera actually. The best part is that it still has a very robust grip so it’s very comfortable to hold. I think you can get 11fps in photo mode. As far as auto focus goes it’s good but not great. I get best results using the “single point” AF mode. One final note, it does have quite a bit of rolling shutter when shooting higher shutter speeds and panning with subjects. Something to keep in mind.

      Hey, thanks for the question. I think I was trying to bring in more light while also keeping things relatively sharp. The Z50 can handle ISO around 3-4000. Where it starts to fall apart is up in the 8-10,000 in my experience. Never tried AI de noise on any of my photos.

      @@bigboi36 Nikon Z30 and Z50 are almost the same camera in term of image quality: same sensor, same kit lens, same image processor. Maybe Z30 has a better focus system, but I don't think it is much different. I'm sure will not be any noticed differences between shots on Z50 and Z30. I'm using Z50 starting with May of 2021, using the 16-50 and 50-250mm lenses. Yes, it is a good camera, nice colours, and has few features like semi-pro I'd say. Surprisingly a good dynamic range for a crop sensor of 20.9 MP resolution. It is true, I dont do portraits, but landscape, travels,. However, too bad that Nikon has no other lens for aps-c sensor on Z mounts, and neither another manufacturer (tamron, sigma) has no Z lenses. Possible, even a better choice for all-round lens to be the 18-140mm which worth it. But, yes, it is true, you can use the full-frame Nikon Z lenses for a bigger price.

I already have a 28 mm /2.8 as an really old Nikon lens with manual focus which I hope to use with the adaptor (and I don't have a zoom lens which I would like). But I am afraid I am paying more for two ok lenses, instead of one really good one 😂 Any tips for me?

      Ohhhh that’s a tough decision haha. I will say the 50-250mm might be my favourite all-time lens for my Z50 (even above a couple f/1.8 S primes). It’s perfectly suited to the APS-C crop of the Z50/Z30. If I’m understanding correctly you’ll have the 16-50mm, your adapted 28mm, and potentially the 50-250mm. I’d say that’s a pretty sweet combo. You’re covered from 16-250mm. Let me know if you have any other questions 📷

      @RolandKaufmann Thanks for your input. I am leaning towards picking the 50-250, especially after your videos! Is there a lot editing on your finnished photos?
      Yes, it is a package deal with the camera. Either I choose 16-50 and 50-250, or only the 28. I don't know if I will ever use the 16-50 but hey, who knows! And I am hoping my old Nikon lenses will work great with the adaptor. I do also have an old one that is 135mm / 2.8 so I am really looking forward to have a new camera that works with these.

      The 2 kit lenses are really impressive for their price. I still use both of them when the time is right (usually on bright sunny days haha). At the very least they’re good options if you’re not sure which focal lengths will work best on the Z50. You can try them all!

    Really struggling to get sharp street photos with this camera what settings would you advise

    • @RolandKaufmann
      @RolandKaufmann  8 месяцев назад +1

      If the lack of sharpness is due to motion blur then you’ll need to pick a faster shutter speed. A common rule is to make the shutter speed double your focal length (when shooting at 50mm you’ll want at least a 1/100 shutter speed). Most lenses are sharpest around f/8 during bright sunny days. I’ve had good results with the Nikkor lenses around f/4-5.6 as well though.

      I can absolutely vouch for the Z50 for any type of photography you want to do. When it comes to video you’re going to have to think about certain things more. Without IBIS in the Z50 I tend to use lenses that have VR in them to shoot video. Otherwise it turns into a wobbly mess. So it depends on what you want to shoot video of and what lenses you intend to use for that.

    how is the camera in low light?

    • @RolandKaufmann
      @RolandKaufmann  11 месяцев назад +1

      It’s definitely not the best low light camera. But if you put a low aperture lens on it then it’s quite capable!

    Z50 or a64000 for photography?

    • @RolandKaufmann
      @RolandKaufmann  5 месяцев назад

      Good question! A couple years ago I would have said the Sony, but Nikon have done a great job of adding DX lenses to the Z line up. Nikon Z50 all the way!

      @@RolandKaufmann I've been eyeing for the sony a6400 but the z50 catches my eye because of its buttons and classic mirroless look. Thanks for this, I'll consider your answer as my final decision to buy the z50.

      I’ve been out of the camera market for a couple years, but at the time this camera was very good for the price! The fact I’m still using it 2+ years later must mean something :). Which other camera are you looking at?

    May I know your camera setting when shooting low light in the evening?

    • @RolandKaufmann
      @RolandKaufmann  2 года назад +3

      For the low light shots I was shooting at the lowest aperture I could usually (3.5 or 4), shutter speed around 1/100, and iso around 800-1000. Had to bring up exposure and shadows in Lightroom afterwards. Hope this helps. Settings may vary depending on your conditions.

      The 50-250mm lens in this video might be a good option! Nikon also makes an 18-140mm lens that could be good if you’re looking to shoot a bit wider. All comes down to personal preference. I really like the 50-250mm though. Shoot with it a lot!
