I also Form 1'd my Shockwave, added a Magpul SGA stock, Surefire fore end light, and a Meprolight tritium front sight(screw in). Magpul sells a butt plate adapter (for the SGA), allows for Remington 870 butt pads, I put a Limbsaver on mine. I can shoot slugs off the bench with that pad, without the pain.
Over our years of working with the Shockwave, we at OPSol Texas definitely agree with "the feel". If you care to, get one of our Flex Adapters and run some minishells. Probably Federals are the stoutest. Nice video, thank you.
Does your adapter work with the Nobel Sport Mini Buck shells? Those shells are 2 1/4" while the Aguila and Federal shells are 1 3/4". I lean towards the mid length 2 1/4" Mini Buck as they fit in shell holders and bandoliers much better, and oddly are easier to handle overall.
@@Hjerte_Verke Technically no. In my experience with them, they usually run okay without the adapter. If you have a need for "adaption", you can try cutting back the "flex" rubber a little at a time until they run. I have done this, but only for my personal interest......
@@TwentyTwoSigma Yes, we get your type of review from the defender tactical people all the time. The OPSol Flex adapter doesn't "randomly" fall out, and the reality of the DT is quite simple. You said something about stripping the paint off and add some wood furniture. I'm currently waiting for a 590 Shockwave and I'm thinking to do just that. I have (somewhere around my house) the wooden stock and pump that I took off from my 590 Retrograde. But get another one and start a "Classic Shotgun 2023's project" 😉
Thank you, this was very informative. I recently brought this exact model home just over a month ago (after waiting 13.5 months for a tax stamp) and I am very happy with it minus one exception: it is difficult to find accessories for it because it is an SBS. For example, I purchased the Stream Light racker with the 1000 lumen light and was greatly disappointed because as you mentioned in your video, the racker is not a standard size because of the barrel length and therefore, does not fit. I am also having a very difficult time finding a full length rail system for this unit. Everything that I have found so far is made for an 18" or 20" barrel. I did however find an AR style stock with a buffer tube system that I installed which bolted on without any issues. (I've not tested it yet and I am hoping that it take more recoil out than expected...) Otherwise, it is a fun but punishing gun. If you have and manufacturers that make accessories specific to this SBS, I would greatly appreciate a few links.
@@OreGear unfortunately that unit doesn't fit. the racker is too short. I know for a fact because it was a Christmas present and has already been returned... the Shockwave racker is longer by about 2 inches... Also, i don't own a shockwave, it's an M590A1 SBS.
Just saw you video great...I my have one...I am looking for a plus one or zero with the retaining ring sling mount. I am not willing to put anything under the barrel nut....and maybe red dot some day...Help if you can Thanks
I've been going through sbs phase also... I don't know why because I like an 18 inch "tactical" shotgun but they're really cool so I might have to give in one day... LOL Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
Because shotgun combat is close range, a short barrel makes the most sense. Clearing buildings, trenches, and cover, with drones as an option. Field barrels only make sense for birds at range.
If you know a buddy who can run a lathe, I can give you the dimensions to thread it. I had my shockwave threaded for chokes. I reverse engineered the threads off my mossberg 500 28" barrel. Does yours require a 6 o'clock hold? Mine does and I hate it which is why it has a red dot.
i prefer the mossberg safety to the remington as well. now that im on the hunt for a shockwave again i cant find one in 12g. no remington either. really like your sbs setup!

mossbergs only shotgun worth SBS beside the M3 entry 😩 the 18.5 500 XS persuaders /tactical are cqb 👑 no hand to face any LOP shooting from cqb/vehicles, just take the shell saddle off and side Velcro it, med.classic limbsaver slip fits wrap edges w/etape for dismounts, cut/ZipT 1/4 pipe insulation for the best cheek rest 😭works great on Sub2k buffer tubes but most importantly KEEP THE STRAP!!!!! Most fights hand/arm hits common it adds no weight works as a vertical grip if needed
I have owned a shockwave for about 2 years now. I going to Form 1 it now also. Do you have any advice about the form 1 process? ? This will be my first experience with it and I’m not sure what I’m getting myself in to?…….
I would go old-school wood simply for looks. I have plenty of shotguns including tactical. And I wouldn't want to go tactical without a full shoulder stock with which I trained. Very good video. I just hate to go the form & stamp route to let the gov goons know I have anything. Final comment...Disband the ATF!!!
I disagree with the usefulness of the shockwave in its factory configuration. With practice and a red dot any one with a decent amount of strength can use it just as good a shotgun inside of 30 yards. Let the firearm recoil into the reload cycle, use the strap, and you'll do fine.
I've had mine for 4 years. Lots of practice. 2 3/4 loads in 00 buck and a few slugs every now and then works fine without a full stock. I even practice with 3 " 00 buck ( which can be a bit painful, but do able) Maybe because I'm a big guy ( 245 lbs and 6'2") it's a breeze to shoot. Have thought about SBS filing, but figure I'll use the money and keep shooting.
People aren't using stockless shotguns in competitions for a reason. Sure you can use them but a stock will always be better in a real world situation.
Under what circumstance would you want to hit the pump release while still in your firing grip? I can't even think of a malfunction drill. 10:33 Great video.
I have a question. I Have a shockwave. I'd love to put that Magpul stock on it without feeling out a form , is it illegal to have it in my home or just to take out and shoot at a range?
All guns need a paint job. The black that most guns come from the factory is a primer layer basically. Ready for you to customize yourself. Black weapons stick out like a neon sign
have the same setup but i mounted a red dot on it its fun to shoot until you get into high brass then the bastard punishes you i usualy put 20-30 shells of high brass before im packing it in for the day lol
i get not wanting a pistol grip (tho the birds head is pretty comfy tbh) however u kinda made it boring with the regular stock. i wouldve put a folding stock at least tbh... just to keep it compact. it still looks cool tho. the streamlight pump will complete it for sure. idk i guess the classic stock does look pretty sick with the short barrel tbh

It’s a Russian Gorka I got from Grey Shop. Jacket and pants runs about $100.
@@OreGear thank you
Hi. Thanks for the great video. I have a quick question if I may. I saw some videos people adding a brace called SBM4 from SB-Tactical. They say they don't need Form 1 for that Pistol Stabilizing Brace. I wouldn't belive it so I wanted to ask a professional. Isn't it a felony? Thanks.
You said something about stripping the paint off and add some wood furniture. I'm currently waiting for a 590 Shockwave and I'm thinking to do just that. I have (somewhere around my house) the wooden stock and pump that I took off from my 590 Retrograde. I do like the Magpul modern design, but at the same time I feel that some "classic look short barrel shotgun" is a must have in any shotgun collection. Keep that shorty beauty of yours as it is. But get another one and start a "Classic Shotgun 2023's project" 😉
11:15 there are ZER0 ladies watching this video
SBS my shockwave waiting for the mossberg ghost rings to be in stock.
I have friends that work at Maverick Arms. I’ll be sure to see if they can speak to quality control to take care of the sharp edges.
Streamlight makes a Racker model specifically for the shockwave.
What's the chest rig set up @1:51
SOE Micro Shotgun Chest Rig
GG&G sells a Magpul forearm that is modified to fit the Shockwave.
Great video, can I get more info on the shell holder/chest rig you are running
It’s an Original SOE Gear Shotgun micro rig
i really like the streamlight racker
@OreGear what are the measurements for that sbs im doing that exact set up
I've been going through sbs phase also... I don't know why because I like an 18 inch "tactical" shotgun but they're really cool so I might have to give in one day... LOL Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
I used to watch mrgunsngear’s SBS videos whenever I was feeling the urge. I’m glad I finally did it though.
Defender Tactical has a mini shell adapter that you don't need to remove to run both regular and mini shells
Have you used them? Do they work well?
@@OreGear I have it installed on my 18.5 590. Runs great no issues cycling at all. Runs mixed shells no issue
Do you have a video on how you installed the stock ? And where did you buy it please
i prefer the mossberg safety to the remington as well.
now that im on the hunt for a shockwave again i cant find one in 12g. no remington either.
really like your sbs setup!
The weird thing is the last batch of 12ga shockwaves we got where I work had 18.5” barrels. Kind of defeats the purpose.
@@OreGear wth? maybe thats why when i called one of my lgs they said they had a maverick 88 shockwave.
DONT JUST SLAP A BIRDS HEAD GRIP ON IT AND CALL IT A SHOCKWAVE
next im gonna see it on a 28in barrel lol
Smokey Mountain Guns and Ammo usually has them in stock.
Love your set up. I have tge Streamlight Racker. Bomb proof. Im interested in your sling adapter and sling. At least the name and links if possible.
Did you put the Streamlight for arm on it
Nice 590 SBS sir I am looking to do the same soon
I am interested in knowing your thoughts on the 590A1? I'm a fan from Canada and we don't have that paperwork approval process for putting a stock on a Shockwave; which is surprising in a way because we have a lot more process and paperwork for firearms ownership than you folks,
I want an origin 12 sbs or the AOW version without the stock.
Shockwave industries makes a nice M-lok for end for that firearm. $14.99 on sale now!!!
GG&G sells a modded magpul forend just for that.
Great video! Thank you!
mossbergs only shotgun worth SBS beside the M3 entry 😩 the 18.5 500 XS persuaders /tactical are cqb 👑 no hand to face any LOP shooting from cqb/vehicles, just take the shell saddle off and side Velcro it, med.classic limbsaver slip fits wrap edges w/etape for dismounts, cut/ZipT 1/4 pipe insulation for the best cheek rest 😭works great on Sub2k buffer tubes but most importantly KEEP THE STRAP!!!!! Most fights hand/arm hits common it adds no weight works as a vertical grip if needed
Looks dope 👍
Sweet shotgun
I think gg&g sells a modified magpul pump grip that fits the shockwave.
That’d be convenient!
Yes they do and it's only about 60 bucks. I just installed one on mine and works fine
Does anyone know what shell holder he was using on his chest rig? Sweet setup!
Love to see you test federal flitecontrol 00buck 8 pellet at 30 yards. 40 yards and 50 yards with your sbs😊
I have owned a shockwave for about 2 years now. I going to Form 1 it now also. Do you have any advice about the form 1 process? ? This will be my first experience with it and I’m not sure what I’m getting myself in to?…….
What brand receiver sling mount is that?
It’s the Magpul sling mount that goes between the receiver and stock
@@OreGear thanks man I’ve been trying to find out since you dropped the video 😅
I am getting one but putting a brace on it instead 🤠
commenting for the logs
I found the magpul mod easy, took me an hour maybe. I think it's worth.
I have a 590A1 18.5 bbl. Wonder if 4 in. Really makes that much of a difference
Was wondering the same thing
Where did you get that front sight
How did you modify the front sight?
Did you buy your permit and then the stock?
I would go old-school wood simply for looks. I have plenty of shotguns including tactical. And I wouldn't want to go tactical without a full shoulder stock with which I trained. Very good video. I just hate to go the form & stamp route to let the gov goons know I have anything. Final comment...Disband the ATF!!!
I disagree with the usefulness of the shockwave in its factory configuration. With practice and a red dot any one with a decent amount of strength can use it just as good a shotgun inside of 30 yards.
Let the firearm recoil into the reload cycle, use the strap, and you'll do fine.

Demonstrated concepts disagrees
I've had mine for 4 years. Lots of practice. 2 3/4 loads in 00 buck and a few slugs every now and then works fine without a full stock. I even practice with 3 " 00 buck ( which can be a bit painful, but do able) Maybe because I'm a big guy ( 245 lbs and 6'2") it's a breeze to shoot. Have thought about SBS filing, but figure I'll use the money and keep shooting.
People aren't using stockless shotguns in competitions for a reason. Sure you can use them but a stock will always be better in a real world situation.
@@weezem folks aren't using factory guns period in competition. Your point is moot.
I want to see that with a folding stock
Great video thank you
Under what circumstance would you want to hit the pump release while still in your firing grip? I can't even think of a malfunction drill. 10:33
Great video.
What about threading it for chokes to tighten it up a bit?
I’m pretty happy with the patterning actually. Chokes usually don’t help buckshot anyway.
Was looking at choking my shorty as a critter getter, thought it would help since the pattern beyon 15 yards is trash
What was the overall length of it that you put on the form 1?
I have a question. I Have a shockwave. I'd love to put that Magpul stock on it without feeling out a form , is it illegal to have it in my home or just to take out and shoot at a range?
It is definitely illegal as soon as the stock is on it.
It is illegal to “possess “ it, to quote the statute. My form 1 approval took less than a week.
What chest rig set up is that?
All guns need a paint job. The black that most guns come from the factory is a primer layer basically. Ready for you to customize yourself. Black weapons stick out like a neon sign
Makes me kind of want one.
Do it!
-Darth Sidious
have the same setup but i mounted a red dot on it its fun to shoot until you get into high brass then the bastard punishes you i usualy put 20-30 shells of high brass before im packing it in for the day lol
Did you mount the crimson trace? Or another laser sight?
@@MrHeat1up i mounted a red dot optic no laser haha
i get not wanting a pistol grip (tho the birds head is pretty comfy tbh) however u kinda made it boring with the regular stock. i wouldve put a folding stock at least tbh... just to keep it compact. it still looks cool tho. the streamlight pump will complete it for sure. idk i guess the classic stock does look pretty sick with the short barrel tbh
