being in love with someone who has no problem exploiting animals is a problem for me. he respects me and we have no dead animals in the house. he has a refrigerator in the garage. this path is so filled with obstacles and tears i dont advise it for anyone

I started dating a meat eater when I was plant based. When I went vegan he went plant based and now he's vegan. Took time but we communicated constantly and i went vegan for the animals and once he knew my reasons and what animal agri was actually about he could never go back. I couldn't have stayed with him if his values weren't the same as mine 🤷‍♀️

These are fantastic ideas for plant based folks who aren’t fundamentally vegan. Things are much more complex when one is an ethical vegan. Thanks!

This is how it is in my household too. My husband is a meat eater and I still make his meals for him like I always have but I do the swaps for myself. So we basically are eating the same meal but I do a swap for the meat. Have a nice week. 👍

Yes please! On wanting to see swaps. I’m the only one of 5 that’s wanting to eat WFPB and I’m the sole cook and shopper. I want to be respectful but have hard time meal planning.

I know that can definitely be difficult for sure. I’ve had students in my coaching program have this exact scenario as their biggest obstacle. With time, patience, and certain strategies, they’ve made it work!
If you’d like, I have a lesson on this topic in my Plant Based Success Academy course. I’d be happy to send you that specific lesson for free to help you out! If you’re interested just email me at peter@plantbasedteacher.com and I’ll send it your way!

I enjoyed this topic! I was raised in a vegetarian & meat eater household. I have been a meat eater but recently switched to WFPB and love it. My husband remains a meat eater but wants to eat healthier after watching me. Although he used to cook all our meals I've done more research into new recipes, so I am making my own meals now. I'm ok with that but miss the comradery of shared dishes. I love the idea of having a base that we both can build on. Tonight, we are having Taco Salad (his idea) and will be able to assemble them with our favorite toppings. Thanks for all you are doing to help us benefit from eating WFPB! Best wishes for your marriage!

And thank you for the kind words. Made my day!

Idk… I find it SO hard to cook for non vegans. I will do it, when I’m forced to on occasion for family members that aren’t when they come over, but I feel like a hypocrite. I can’t get past thinking of the suffering involved (animals) and the planet and the unhealthiness of consuming animal products. I’m sorry. I just find it hard and I feel awful doing it 😢. Can anyone else relate?

    • @theplantbasedteacher

Hey that's completely understandable and respectable. You're on this journey for a reason, and it's always difficult navigating situations that conflict with your values. We all manage in different ways, so I get it! It sounds like you're doing your best for the right reasons, don't forget to give yourself credit for your own actions!

The sourdough bread break was the best! This was a great idea for those who are in a mixed dietary household or relationship. Honestly I think it’s fun to make swaps and maneuver recipes to plant based. It’s nice when a non vegan is open to the swaps and maybe even prefer the swap!

Which I love! They all are great about trying my different concoctions tho...... my sweet potato brownies, my seasoned, air fried tofu, my banana "Nice Cream" etc..... they are willing to try bites here and there, and usually not a fan, but..... they always are surprised that it isn't GROSS!!! 🤣

When i got with my guy i was a new vegan. He would eat all my vegan food and it seemed to not be a problem. As time went on he said he didnt feel good and wanted to eat meat. we got a fridge in the garage and he does his dirty work outside. Believe me it IS a problem. we have been together 14 years and many times i thought i could not take it anymore. It has become a non topic because it is just too heated. We are going to counseling now. At times i feel like my brain will explode. he is such a good man in every other way and he loves me more than i have ever been loved. I just keep believing the day will come when the light will go on and he will see that animals do not deserve to be tortured and die for his sandwich. Its crazy making really. I dont recommend this path for anyone,

Same. But with that being said, my last partner was vegan and I was not and shortly after we split, I became vegan. I don’t know if I would have gotten to this point in my life if she hadn’t exposed me to it.
but I have no clue how she put up with it because I couldn’t do that after transitioning to a plant diet

@@staceylandfield5002 and billions more will die in factory monocrop fields. I will never understand how vegans justify placing more value in larger vertebrate animals over smaller invertebrates or even small mammals. You are clearly equating veganism to an ideology but not all people eating a “vegan” diet share your ideology.

  • @scienceislove2014
    @scienceislove2014 Год назад +1

You can xuz you aren't doing this for animals...
I could be perfectly healthy on a Mediterranean diet... Which is plant centred but not completely vegan...
But since I'm vegan only cuz animals are sentient beings...they too suffer and i wouldn't like getting chopped up into pieces.. they don't either.. i can't stand someone i love and am close to eat meat.. i dunno...eating fish would feel better...but meat.. a big no... I just wouldn't be able to love that person..
