I am 76 years old, I served 30 years in the submarine force. This was the most moving war movie I have ever seen. When the credits began, and Sarah Slean began singing After the War, I wept.
Yank here. I had a Great Uncle from Guelph, Ontario who was wounded and gassed at Passchendaele. I met him in 1967 and his vocal chords were still scarred-50 years after that battle. He wouldn't talk much about it other than to say 'This must never happen again or the world will be destroyed.'. Brave men fought in that battle under absolutely horrible conditions-brave men on both sides.
May all the Brave Men & Woman who lost there lives in the Great War, and all the Wars that followed, may you all Brave Souls "Rest in Peace" eternally. God bless you all.
I cannot speak of God but of the COSMOS and spirit of humanity, this is wayyy up there. The idea, the writing and the voice, the voice and the grace. My Lord!
Just watch the film ,how sad to think this really happened, those poor dear brave men and women .l was in tears watching it and am now ,l did not know it happened .Those dear ,dear lovely souls who suffered so much and how proud the Canadians are .l kept saying God Bless and God Love You All ,and Thankyou for giving your lives to save us . The song is so beautiful and sung with all heart and makes me cry ,l will never forget it and l will think of those poor men and add them to my prayers every night .RIP my darlings .l love you all .Paula .X .
After watching the movie, I now know why my Grandfather wouldn't talk about it. I have a picture of him before going overseas and one of him when he came home, what a differance. He left in March 1916 and came home june 1919.
I understand that's the Canadian way, old mate. You don't have one made by glory, or by force of arms. Your nation was made by quiet patience, and hope for a better future. Good on the lot of you-you make us all look bloody stupid long before we made ourselves thus.
love the song so much love both those actors love the movie love the love between them love the fact theres no dislikes :) love the fact this is Canadian.. I LOVE BEING CANADIAN ♥♥
proud Canadian 🍁 and this song is beautiful im singing it for my choir rn it literally kills me tbh its so beautiful. it makes me think of my grandpa who fought in the wae
I'm thinking of my Grandfather Joseph Farrell who fought for the British in WW1 at The Somme. A tough decision as the Irish were fighting for their freedom in 1916. I lived with him growing up, he never spoke of it RIP.🙏
I agree with diamondnora it's a beautiful song people! Enjoy! What ever side it is that we blame, there will always be people who will argue against it! It is not one particular person or country's fault. Everyone played a part! Why don't we just mourn for the soldiers that fought for country, whoever or whatever it may be, and cherish the loved ones that we still have around us. Share the people. -3
You did a really nice job on making this video clip and the song is just beautiful. Is there anyway of getting a copy of this so I can play it when I am off-line? I would listen to the all the time but I can't always keep my You Tube on.
ww1, then ww2 bloody Germans never know when to stop. People should know when they're defeated. Sorry for Canada, they lost many man. Greetings from Portugal.
Portuguese soldiers did themselves and their allies proud across Africa and the Western Front in spite of their terrible leadership after joining in against the Central Powers during 1915. There are many here in Britain who remember still the old alliance we still have.
oh trust me I have a life. All i am saying is that the second world war was the Frenchs' fault. Um i'm cool off the phsychiatristXD. Besides Hitler had Sipholous he went mentaley insane from it.

So proud of you Canadians RIP
Thank you so much for your service towards the fight for our freedom
Respect, I love this song
Now THIS, ladies and gentlemen, should be the Canadian National Anthem. Well done, you lot, forever. Love from Blighty.
Adam Welton A sad song makes for an unfortunate choice of national anthem.

Such brave young man, such suffering I have great respect for them fighting in a land so far away from their homeland
I'm thinking of my Grandfather Joseph Farrell who fought for the British in WW1 at The Somme.
