  • Part 1 of a 2 part series around long range clip on night vision. In this series we will take an in depth look at the PVS 27 and the PVS 30 clip on night vision. I'll be using each of these on top of my Knight's armament SR25 in 6.5 creedmoor equipped with a KAC CRS suppressor and Nightforce ATACR 5-25 F1 scope with tremor 3 reticle.
In this video we look at a quick gear overview and physical comparison of each device, we look at zeroing the wilcox raptar and we look at 100 yd zero shift of each clip on device.

It's common knowledge the full power RAPTAR is no joke, but jfc.... Seeing the ipsec lit up at 800m through the scope is scary impressive. For the age the clip on is impressive, but I'm far more interested in the RAPTAR.
I know this is a terrible thing to say, but living in Eastern Washington I'm mildly excited that hogs have established themselves in Idaho, and within the decade we'll be allotted the privilege travel within state, and hut hogs at night. Coyotes are obviously fun, but nothings as entertaining as hogs. Hogs would allow me to justify the the expense of purchasing another piggybacked NV unit. This was dope. I don't believe another channel is providing this type of content. At least not with these gucci service rifle accessories.

Oh man I didn’t realize hogs had made there way to Idaho. That’s bad news for the ag community but like you I’d be willing to do my part to try to clean them up haha. My opinion the raptar is a must have to be effective at long range shooting with a clip on, expensive but great tool

@@MountainsMulletsMerica totally. They've been an issue in Idaho for several years now. I suspect you did a quick Google search after stumbling across my comment? It's gotten so bad you can fly out for a helicopter hog hunt in Idaho today; I want to kill hogs at night from a helo so damn bad! Nothing can stop hogs and I gurantee we have established communities here in Washington already. It was a really big issue in Eastern Idaho back in 2020. The day you go out to film a video and see pigs you end those bastards. They're right on your boarder man, and Eastern Washington agriculture is invaluable to our communities. I'm from Omak, and I can't even begin to tell you what happened to the valley when we tore up all of our orchards 10+ years ago. I think theres been a few hogs killed down towards the Yakima potato fields, but I'm not overly educated on thr topic. I am excited that someday I'll be able to drive to Wilbur, and be greeted by farmers wanting me to shoot game on their property though. Ive always been jealous seeing these incredible hog hunts in Texas, while actually doing good for their community. Idk why but I just don't find coyotes fun anymore, and given the reduction of livestock in our area, there's really no reason to hunt them. I'm not a tree hugger, but predators always kind of made me feel bad. Hogs on the other hand, lol I'd mow down with a truck and feel no remorse. Like you said they absolutely decimate agriculture, and within a decade harm the wildlife. Once they end up on the passes they'll be no stopping them, meaning guys like you are probably the only thing that will prevent an extremely destructive, invasive species from destroying Wa State agriculture. I know the states beyond saving with politics, but before we all inevitably move to Idaho and Texas, we should probably attempt to preserve what we can if this once moderately, decent state.

@@tomjjackson21 yeah man I did a little googling, pretty crazy really. While I certainly hope they don't get a stronghold in the area, in the event they do I'm down to help reduce their impact. I'm really just into target shooting but when it comes to something like hogs I'd enjoy the opportunity to combine shooting with the ability to help out the ag community any day of the week haha

    • @MountainsMulletsMerica

Yes the higher you run the magnification, the lower the image quality becomes. Max possible mag depends a lot on the quality of the NV device you are using. With both my pvs30 and PVS27 I’d say 12-14x is max I’d feel comfortable running. Thanks for watching!

Have you ever run a thermal? Curious what you would prefer. From online vids onky it actually seems like thermals even on high mag up to approximately 8-10 power seem clear enough that it'd be an advantage over clip on nighvision at the same mag.
