Favorite video of yours thus far, and they're all good. As soon as you cut to the 1100 yd shooting, I immediately thought "well, I hope he dialed back up from his 2.2 speed drop." That shit happens, it is what makes us better at it. Speed drop and quick wind is what finally converted me from MOA to mils. For levels, I've found that on 32mm and smaller objective lenses, mounting the day optic slightly low (1.125-1.25" off rail) makes the tube mounted bubble level visible with the clip-on output providing the backlight. Not going to work with larger objective optics like in the video, but I've found it useful with other setups. Try a PVS-27 if you can, I converted from SIMRADs and 30s to the 27 and won't go back. Great work, thanks again for the video.
Oh man, that's genius to use the light out of the clip on to back light a level. 100% I want to try a PVS 27, I've actually been thinking if I run across the right unit for the right price I might pick one up to try side by side with the PVS 30. Thanks for watching!

I found that the AN/PVS-30 is used by US special forces snipers like the Army Ranger Snipers. I want to put one on my Scar 17 in 6.5 Creedmore in front of my Schmidt Bender 3-20x50 Ultrashort. Only thing is my S&B has the P4F reticle and not a fast acquisition tree reticle. I would have to remove the sunshade and scope flash hider to have enough rail space. Love to play a real men’s golf game in the cover of night! I see the green led is that the “Send it” electronic level? I need one!
The P4F reticle will work just fine. I just prefer something like the tremor 3 as it eliminates the need to dial turrets... hard to see them in the dark haha. Yes the level is the long range arms send it level, my opinion this is a must for long range shooting, but especially after dark.
Yeah I'm really not sure about what that might be. At this point I can't really recall if I saw anything out the side of my eye or not. I'm going to make more night time videos so we'll see if it happens agai.
KAC prices have gone crazy lately, I'm hoping things level at some point in the near future. I've always been a used buyer but even those prices are out of control.
Is that pvs 30 pretty clear? I bought a new KAC pvs22 and couldn’t even see a tractor at 100 yds. I sent it back to Aurora tactical and she sent another and it was just a hair clearer, I could identify a hog up to 125-150 yds and that’s it! I had good equipment too, a brand new full power peq 15, NF ATACR 4-20x50 F1. It was like looking through an old staticky scrambly television. Looking at thermal now, after 2 brand new pvs22’s
Yes, I am quiet pleased with my PVS30. The image depends on ambient light out and if I'm running an IR illuminator or not.... Depending on conditions I am able to identify targets and spot impacts out to 800, and see decent enough beyond that in some conditions to make hits on a full size ipsc to 1000 or so. That said, I'm least impressed with my PVS30 at 100 yds, it's more difficult than I'd like to see a 1" dot but doable if I really focus. I'm actually hoping to make a video through the PVS30 maybe this weekend to show viewers what I see.
You know I’ve been pretty lucky when it comes to acquiring gear. Most of the stuff I’m shooting I picked up well before the current crazy prices. Don’t think I’d be able to afford it either if I was having to buy everything new right now. Thanks for watching!
Great video, but you can shoot without a suppressor just fine. I guess I’m going to have to wait until I put targets out farther to see how my SPIR is working properly. I did see that my 200 yard target got brighter

my question. How do you align a cnvd? I can't find any info on this. I have a ps-28 by atn in front of my primary arms acss 1x6 lpvo. I have an adjustable lpvo mount, it adjusts up and down. The ps-28 mount has no adjustment for up/down left or righ. I need to adjust the cnvd to the right 2mm to be centered. Also my 15 inch rail has some flex, is there a cure?
Question (not specific to this video): how much zoom do you usually like to use with your scopes? Do you use max power? I’ve heard some people don’t like to zoom more than about 18x. Interested in your thoughts. Maybe could even be a video comparing scopes you’ve tried and what you prefer and how you like to use them
Depends on range but I rarely if ever use max power. Daytime shooting out to 1000 or so I’m probably in the 15x range for ipsc type targets. Push beyond 1000 I’ll go up to 20x ish. Only time I go to max power is trying to mil a target using the reticle or shooting at 100. Night time with the Pvs 30 10-12x is about all I can do to keep a useable clear image.
@@MountainsMulletsMerica that’s really interesting, so is there no benefit in going up to something like a 5-25x scope? Sounds like one might as well stick with 4-16x or 3-15x etc.. so here’s another question then, is there any difference between two scopes of similar quality at 15x, where one is say 3-15 and the other is 5-25? Reason I ask is I’m building an aero m5 in 6.5 creed and trying to choose a decent scope that will get me out to 1000
@@sfdclay my opinion, while I spend most of my time in around 15x when shooting out to 1000 I do prefer a scope with a higher top end. Say a 5-25. Reason being you've got more magnification there if you want it. That said I'm right in the middle of finishing up a 20" .308 SR25 that will wear a 4-16 and the plan for this rifle will be shooting out to 1200 or so. With regards to 2 similar quality scopes at 15x, the couple differences you might see would be possibly field of view and light transmission in low light conditions. Personally however, I'd rather have clearer glass with lower magnification than a higher magnification scope with less clear glass.
@@MountainsMulletsMerica thanks again for your feedback, I appreciate you taking the time to respond. That gives me some good food for thought. Now to figure out which scope I should go with; decisions, decisions 🤪

Great video - gotta ask - what is the "alien" looking thing floating into frame from the left at the end of your 485 group????? Looks like one of those candle balloons.
Great video. I subscribed. One constructive criticism: focus the Sionyx at the target. Mullets make the ladies swoon, but we don’t need the back of your head to be in focus.

Is that your land that you shoot on? it's beautiful, you can create all sorts of situations because of the shape of the land, you make everybody else jealous. Lol
I wish I owned this land but I don't..... this is farm ground managed by a local farmer that allows me to access it for shooting. The hills of eastern WA are a long range shooting paradise for someone that grew up in GA with a passion for long range haha
just found your channel. i'm getting into the night game and all i gotta say is, how the heck do you afford this? thats such a sick set up. NF+PVS30 is the dream.
For one I always shop used...... very little of the gear I'm running was purchased new. I believe purchasing used will save you huge money but you have to be patient in finding what you want. Aside from that, this is literally my only hobby so I'm able to focus all of my "fun money" into the various shooting disciplines, primarily long range.
Love your videos but you should make marks on you video to show your viewers where these targets are. This will give a visual to your views on how far you at shooting. Just a suggestion. Keep you videos going I like them.
Love it! This is actually something I've recently learned to do in the editing process. Stick around for my newer videos and let me know if what I'm doing is in line with what you have in mind. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
I have not.... seems like the silencerco radius is hard to find so I've never spent time trying to find one. From what I've read online though very capable rangefinder and much more affordable than a raptar. If I ran across one for sale and needed the ability to range at night I'd buy one without question.
Thank you! I’ve thought about updating either my pvs30 or my PVS27 to a new WP tube but I’m not sure I shoot enough after dark to justify the expense haha
I got the throw lever from MKM machining, link below. That said however, don't find the PVS30 lever on the website this morning. Likely will need to email them to get one. www.mkmachining.com/
Depends on light conditions but I’d say 10-12x is usually what I find for the top end. Might be able to squeeze out a little bit more on a night with a lot of ambient light but wouldn’t say that’s the norm.
@@MountainsMulletsMerica good enough. Thank you. No matter the manufacturer that’s impressive groups shooting that quickly. Fantastic video. Very helpful!
The unit I'm running in the video is just a straight up "raptar" with out the ballistic calculator built in. It's served me really well and while the ballistic calculator capability would be cool I don't see it being worth the nearly double price tag. I believe any of the raptar models will serve you well so long as the have the rangefinding capability and of course IR pointer/ flood for NV work. Thanks for watching!

Man I’d love to have one of the AB capable raptars but they are crazy expensive. For the shooting I do the non AB capable version works just fine.
@Mountains, Mullets, Merica! They are cheaper than some of the other gear you have on top of those rifles!
@@MountainsMulletsMerica wanted to let you know that an ES with AB is on the Hide at a pretty good price. Saw it and thought about ya!
@@nousdefions18 appreciate the heads up! Can’t say I’m exactly in the market for another raptar at the moment but if the price is good enough anything is possible haha
my question.
Whatever you do don't buy ATN . My Thor LT has been in the shop 3 times . Now they're sending me a new one I wonder what the failure is going to be this time .Also the Thor lt is a thermal
You answered so many of my dumb questions 😂
Don't worry, 100% we've all got the same questions. I'm relatively new at the long range NV game so trying to cover all the things I had to work through to get effective after dark. Thanks for watching!
Great video - gotta ask - what is the "alien" looking thing floating into frame from the left at the end of your 485 group????? Looks like one of those candle balloons.
You know I was thinking it's an airplane but now that you mention aliens you never know haha
Great video. I subscribed. One constructive criticism: focus the Sionyx at the target. Mullets make the ladies swoon, but we don’t need the back of your head to be in focus.
Touché, very good point. I’ll give that a go in my next video!
Good video
Thank you!
What are you using for primers and where did you buy them cause my local reload supply store still hasn’t gotten their normal supply in for 2 yrs now.
I'm running federal gold medal match primers..... unfortunately I can't give you any leads as I'm still working through a stash I bought 2-3 years ago. I've been looking for primers lately as I need to start replenishing but so far no luck. Very frustrating. Thanks for watching!
Is PVS30 clip on 1X magnification?
@@MountainsMulletsMerica rad. Thanks for the reply man. Looking forward to your future videos.
Slight error in my initial response..... I typed "I always shopped new"...... that should have read "I always purchase used"
Love your videos but you should make marks on you video to show your viewers where these targets are. This will give a visual to your views on how far you at shooting. Just a suggestion. Keep you videos going I like them.
Love it! This is actually something I've recently learned to do in the editing process. Stick around for my newer videos and let me know if what I'm doing is in line with what you have in mind. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
awesome vid
Appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Have you had any experience with the Silencerco SWR Radius Rangefinder? If so, what are your thoughts?
I have not.... seems like the silencerco radius is hard to find so I've never spent time trying to find one. From what I've read online though very capable rangefinder and much more affordable than a raptar. If I ran across one for sale and needed the ability to range at night I'd buy one without question.
Good video sir. Let us know when you want a high spec wp tube in that 30, we will hook you up! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you! I’ve thought about updating either my pvs30 or my PVS27 to a new WP tube but I’m not sure I shoot enough after dark to justify the expense haha
Can you put link to one of the focus adjusters for the nv please
I got the throw lever from MKM machining, link below. That said however, don't find the PVS30 lever on the website this morning. Likely will need to email them to get one.

@@MountainsMulletsMerica can you put a picture up of it please ? I’m in uk 🇬🇧
@@Shoorter not sure how to put a pic on RUclips, can you hit me up on Instagram at mountainsmulletsmerica?
What’s the barrel length ?
Thanks
22" KAC barrel
@@MountainsMulletsMerica thanks.
What is the highest power you can use on your scope when using the PVS30?
Depends on light conditions but I’d say 10-12x is usually what I find for the top end. Might be able to squeeze out a little bit more on a night with a lot of ambient light but wouldn’t say that’s the norm.
Do you know the specific manufacturer for that barrel?
I do not, all I know is it’s a factory KAC 6.5 upper so whoever provides barrels for them. Maybe they do their own barrel work?
@@MountainsMulletsMerica good enough. Thank you. No matter the manufacturer that’s impressive groups shooting that quickly. Fantastic video. Very helpful!
@@mattmoon782 thank you! Man this rifle makes shooting well look easy. Probably my favorite rifle to shoot
stretche it out after dark. That's what she said.😁
What model wilcox raptor are u using
To the best of my knowledge this unit is just a straight up Raptar.... it's not the S model with the onboard ballistic calculator.
Does the gun shoot sub moa I want to get a 6.5 kac
No question, easily sub moa with the 130 ELDMs I shoot.
What parts of your body did you sell to be able to afford that set up. haha I'm most def very jealous.
Which raptar do you recommend
The unit I'm running in the video is just a straight up "raptar" with out the ballistic calculator built in. It's served me really well and while the ballistic calculator capability would be cool I don't see it being worth the nearly double price tag. I believe any of the raptar models will serve you well so long as the have the rangefinding capability and of course IR pointer/ flood for NV work. Thanks for watching!
Man I just ordered the vortex 4000 I'm stoked to try it out
Is that Raptar for sale? 🤘🏼😂
Not at the moment but you never know when I might change my mind haha
Get some.
Long range after dark is a level of fun I didn’t realize existed haha
Great video.
$30,000 rifle , otics and gear. F'ing A 😆
I was lucky enough to score the rifle long before the crazy KAC pricing we see today. No way I'd be able to pull this setup off at current pricing haha
I see your phone likes taking pictures of you when you go to use it.
Yeah not sure what that’s about. Very strange but always shows up like that in the NV camera
This gun is a house payment xD
Bro the backdrop looks painted lol. Somone tell me they see what I'm seeing. Everything passed the valley he's standing on looks not real and like a painting
Oh man it's 100% real, can't ask for a prettier place to shoot!
Did he say night vision is affordable? Aaaaah no
Not necessarily saying NV in general is affordable but when looking at NV options something like a refurbished PVS30 or other used units are much more affordable than other new/ newer options out there. That's at least the intent I was trying ton convey in the comment.
You must be getting bored with shooting ELR. Lol rotf
