Good series Mike. Keep it coming. It does allow to self reflect and validate retrospectively. Also always good to listen to your thought process there.
These series are so valuable!!! 🔥
The best man who gives honest advice.
Thank you so much for your honesty and keep going 👍
Loving this Mike!
amazing series bro. Keep it up. thank
Thnx Mike for this exercise videos 💪🏼
This kind of video is perfect! You don’t want to lose precious time doing stuff you don’t need. Cheers! ✌️😎
Great tips popper up during my shoulder routine, nice change of pace with cables
Thanks Mike..!
So blessed 20 years ago bought a Bowflex Xtreme, Gold's Gym adjustable dumbells 5-25 lbs, Powerblock adjustable dumbells 25-50 lbs, Gold's Gym adjustable bench... all for $1,500 (all still working beautifully), and thankfully I can do all in your new shoulder exercise list..!
Highly recommend to those able getting good multi function home workout equipment..!
Blessings to all, keep at it..! 💪💞
Love the OG Content!!💪🏽
Like the quality of your content as usual, thanks!
Stunning timing just before I go gym and train shoulders
Very helpful. Thanks 💪💪
Love your advice mate. Love watching all your vids even the vlogs etc class as usual
Thank you for another helpful tip! 💪😎🤙
Great stuff!!
With the single arm cable rear delt fly you can get a much better stretch on it by letting you arm come all the way across your body in the bottom position. Great exercise.
Thanks Mike!
100% correct about military press tweaking the shoulder and back..it’s how I tore my rotator cuff
Great vlog as always thanks bro take care bro.
I’d like to see a video about how your back is doing. Are you trying to get it back realigned? That was a really interesting video. Plus would you start incorporating stretching/ mobility work into your fitness schedule? That would be good to see.
Thanks Mike
Happy you are doing this as still watch your videos from 7 years ago
New discovery! I liked your video so you’ve got a new fan mate! Looking forward in learning more. Cheers from Belgium!!!
Very useful series! Like when I find confirmation for exercises I prefer 😊
Great series 👏
Great video! Front delts definitely grow faster this is a good reminder to spend a little more time thinking about the entire shape of the muscle group
Hell yeah they are
Can't wait for the back & legs. Also would be nice to see some stretching, mobility, posture related stuff. Favourite foods , supplements, drinks , etc. Give us all :))))
P.S. Went to the M13 gym , mentioned your name to Dorian Yates and for 50% off my first session. Thank you ❤. Did a three day split last week with him. But will make it a 4 day split by adding this shoulder routine. Thank you & hope to meet you one day to train together
Thank you.
Mike churning out these videos at record rate 🔥
Nice coach Mike,u r really doing a job 👍👍👍👍
He’s basically giving advice on how not to get injured through experience
Mike with the bangers recently
Mike you are the GREAT..👍💪💪💪💪💪💪❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
on seated DB press, you should tuck your shoulders in slightly. That takes alot of tention of the injury prone joints/muscles.
OMG the original shoulder video is the first video I ever saw of Mike. I joined a gym and was a right mug not knowing what to do so RUclipsd how to do shoulders. Have watched every video since.
I use a combination of dumbbells and bands for lateral raise and rear dealts...use the dumbbell first then use the bands immediately after. My shoulders have never been better.
Great video
The importance of shoulder muscles are massively underrated. It allows you to maintain proper load distribution when doing push ups / planks/ mountain climbers or doing heavy bench press without the bar shaking.
Body goals
Mike,
Good video.
I've been following you for ages now, but this is were I subscribed (as a female, btw) :)
Just subbed to the programme :)
Great video, I went straight to Amazon and purchased some cuffs immediately - an affiliate link in the description may be useful for future vids like this that include equipment
Will you be updating your app with the additional workouts you're mentioning in the series?
He is so right about the dumbell press.
You are one of my biggest role models Mike!
By cheat size u mean!? 😂
50+ yo here. I've come to the same conclusions about shoulder work. I don't really even work on my front delts any longer as they're usually taken care of by my horizontal presses. I do neutral grip Viking Presses (landmine + Viking Press attachment) and some Y Raises or Rear Delt Flyes, and that's about it for direct shoulder work.
True, I'm older and can't really push my shoulders as much, but younger lifters should pay attention to that and possibly rethink their approach.
In my late 20s and I only do front overhead movements just for the sake of, feeling something over my head, as lifting or grabbing something above can come about in my daily life. But I don't care to grow, more of strengthen.
Would you still recommend the seated countdown lateral raise? i only found out after watching your previous video and I totally find it a super good workout!
Hii ..Mike
Iam a regular viewer of your channel.....and doing well with my experience.....tq
Great idea with the old videos
Mike what’s your hair regiment to support the transplanted and surrounding original hair? Thanks.
I need advice I’ve only been consistent at the gym for about 2 months I’ve tried two plans and I’m working on a 5 day plan which is chest, shoulders, arms, back, and legs to see how it goes since I feel like when I do two body parts in a session I feel like it doesn’t work for me what do you think ?
Love the arnold presses they give fucking awesome pump
At 47, I've come across lots of joint pain which is my reason for switching to safer exercises. I want to be able to lift well into my 50s and as long as possible. Welcome to older age Mike!
We are just starting, buddy 😊
I am lifting and enjoying way more now that I am older. I love competing with my son who is in top shape!
@@DimitriTheBarbarian That's great to hear! I feel the same about enjoying lifting now than when I was younger. I'm pretty sure for you as well, it's become our therapy! God bless you and your son!
@@jessa.3857 thank you
What's your opinion on facepulls, does is target the rear delts well?
My g, top figure in the fitness scene right now
I find the rear delt dumbell fly is the best exercise for rear delts IF going heavy. That way it really hits on the delt at the start of the movement keeping tension thorough out the movement, basically doing partials with a weight that would seem 'too heavy' to perform. it sounds wrong yet I feel a better mind to muscle connection with that than any other rear delt excercises free weight or machine
First saw them via John Meadows. (heavy dumbbell swings)
Thanks Mike what's next? Biceps or Legs?
Can you please do a video on dumbell shoulder workouts that could be primarily done at home...if you don't have full access to a gym
It's interesting how training protocols have changed over the years. When I first started training in about 2010 every single ''proper' gym lad was doing the bro split. I don't know anyone who does that now.
Is bro split 1-2 muscle groups throught the week, once per week? Like monday = chest tuesday = arms etc etc?
@@ajharmiah2692 yes
What's the change too then.
Only thing I don’t like about the bro split is one complete leg day. I tend to split it into quads and hamstrings and throw some other muscle groups in to make up a full work out
@@shaunbat5097 higher frequency
2:58 I believe you’re in love with this machine Mike 😂
I do the same. I put my elbows forward. Putting them on the side feels extremely weird and I feel my socket
Great 💪🏾✅🥹
Rafis you are very beautiful Man ❤️❤️❤️
How about standing bar shoulder press?
Yes bruv
How about smit machine shoulder press? What do u think
💯💯
💙
I thought for standing rear delt cable you should go at 45 degree angle due to how the rear delt positioned. Think John meadows recommends this
Greetings from California. Great videos, Mr. Michael Thurston-Champion of England. Happy Easter from our channel: Australian Parakeets Stars*Prince Alexander
What's the official brand and equipment name of the plate-loaded lateral raise machine at 3:00? It'd be easier to reference it when locating my local gyms that have this. Thanks!
Fitness has changed so drastically in the past couple of years.
How so
Shoulders like boulders, love the military press
can you do a dumbell only tricep and chest video
Sir Mike how bout your top 5 chest workout out
Need the back version next
amazing series bro. Keep it up
I did away with the dumbell shoulder presses a few years back also for much the same reasons
This just makes me realise how bad my gym equipment is and it is meant to be a premium membership
MR THRST SPOKE , listen and learn 😮😏👍
Supersetting military press and side lateral raises changed the game for me.
mil press is goated
Do lateral raises first then superset them immediately with dumbbell overhead press
Reason is you isolate and smoke your side delts first with the lateral raises but you have you triceps that are still fresh so you can push them past failure
@@ManicMoe I like to pick up the dumbbells as if I’m going to do dumbbell curls but then quickly transition into overhead press to shock my CNS and muscles. Works real good and the pump is unrivalled
💖❤️💖❤️💖
What about shrugs ?
Off the topic of shoulders (yes I'm gonna be that guy), are there any good workouts for lats other than pulldowns?
Pull-ups n pullovers
You are a huge advocate of the Ppl split and you have also made video on the exercises that need / should be done of the push muscles specifically ( Triceps, Shoulders and Chest ) . the videos you made show 5 exercises per muscle group except the triceps . So you do 5 for chest and shoulders and the. 3 for triceps to target each of the heads ( long, lateral and medial head) . So in total on a push day you will be doing like what, 13 exercises ? That seriously does not make sense, Even if you were to reduce the number to 3 exercises each to target every delt of the shoulder and the parts of chest with the 3 tricep exercises, You still would be doing 9 freaking exercises . Would anyone or you specifically guide me on how this is effective and more optimal than the Bro split ?
I physically cannot do seated DB ohp, hurts left shoulder too much but on machine it is sweet so not a big issue
one is inferior than the other
Same reason a leg press is easier than a squat! It’s not as good!
Mike come to Monaco for the F1 Grand prix 🇲🇨
Front delt:
Machine shoulder press/bar + cage(neutral grip)
Mid delt:
Machine lateral raises(laying/sitting on a bench)
Cable lateral raises on a bench
Rear delt:
Rear delt cable fly on a bench(one arm)
Reverse pec deck
What do you think about Jeremy Ethier's opinion: rear delt flies should be done with arms at 45 degrees to your body rather than straight out at 90 degrees due to the rear delt naturally travelling 45 degrees away from the body (when arms down by sides) and therefore straight arms "don't line up the tension will with this." ?
Yes
@@Fatfrogsrock well there we go that's what I thought
@@Alex1981JI would look up sean nalewanyj and Geoffrey Verity Schofield if your goal is hypertrophy. I wasted a lot of time with Jeremy ethiers content.
dang all of my exercises that i do in my home gym have been deemed sub optimal. i don't have a cable machine at home
Uncle Mike
Sorry dumbbells lateral raise #1
Reverse dumbbell fly #2
Reverse pec dec #3
Cable raise #4
Machine shoulder press #5 in that order
And what about the facepull?
Who gets exited when Mike post a new video?! 😍❤ Positive vibes to everybody here ❤✨🙌🏽
this huy remids me Andy Whitefild, Spartacus - Blood and Sand
Basically swapped everything to machines from free weights.! 👍🏻😂
